    Lulz.
    Like 15 years ago, I ran a Tor relay node at a family members house, it was part of a CDN project that a few friends and I did (pre-cloud, we were some of the OG's). I figured we could maximize our internet prestige by running relays.
    Anyway, one of the relays uptime was amazeballs with a broadband "high throughput" connection (limited to: 10mbps/2mbps), somehow made its way on "top lists" and the throughput shot through the roof. It was constantly maxing out the configured bandwidth. It got "so bad" that one of the CDN's ISPs sent them a "nasty" notice in the mail accusing them or being part of a dangerous underground network distributing malware and a bunch of other rubbish.
    (We kept our stuff clean, constantly scanning and removing threats.)
    It's been a while, might reconsider... Gotta look into registering a business, paying for a VPN and writing off the expense before I run another node 🤣.

You might get a couple of days to a few weeks out of it before someone finds it and steals/wrecks it, or the store owner discovers and blocks it, or the local glowies do their spooky shit and you end up in a very interesting situation.
      Exit nodes are a risk, and the more effort you put into mitigating that risk, the more it looks like you're trying to do something that warrants giving you a very interesting time over it. Probably better to leave running exit nodes to people who can't be touched by courts because they ain't doing anything that can be held against them!

    Have you looked into tmux yet? Would (imo) be more comfortable to monitor and switch between the different contexts of the two running nodes. And you could also set up a script to start tmux, the necessary programs and position everything nicely, no need to ^Z, bg, disown, run nyx, in case you have to restart the laptop. Though I guess that shouldn't happen too often.

    • @sdjhgfkshfswdfhskljh3360

      Two relays only needed for very fast connections, when single CPU (single core to be precise, Tor is not much multithreaded) do not have enough performance.

    Thank you for this great video. Everything is working great besides i don't know how to stop the second relay with the "torrc.2" config file. Does someone has an idea for that? "Systemctl stops tor" stops only the config file for "torrc". My workaround is to reboot the server, but this is far from optimal.

    • @bortsampson9136
      @bortsampson9136 2 года назад +2

      according to the urban dictionary, a glowie is:
      Normally used for the CIA but also used for agencies like the ATF, FBI, etc. Their inability to blend into the native population's habits, patterns and speech makes them stick out like a sore thumb to the population, hence they "glow in the dark."
      The most common trappings of government shills are their inability/hesitation to use the major racial slurs, improper use of memes, and the pushing of mainstream political theories.
