I did some work for the Hydra Car project and saw it in its unesembled form. I was later invited to attend the inaugural launch of the craft. These images you are seeing here, are of it in the water on that day. Of all the custom projects I have had the privilege to have been associated with, this one left me speechless to see it in motion on and off land. Keep building outside the box Rick.
4:33 I saw a Cessna equipped with a hover skirt landing pad so that it could land on water or on snow in the Arctic. This is very much like that, but not a full airplane.
Very interesting presentation. The Lockheed "Tail Sitter" was the XFV, and only ever flew as a conventional aircraft with an ungainly bolted-on landing gear. The one with stubby delta wings shown taking off vertically was its competitor, the Convair XFY "Pogo." Great piece of rare footage, nonetheless!
This is the first vid I, ve watched with all unique and never seen content. Except for the Muller Areocar. Some were older. Congrats to your research Team.
All of the flying footage of No13 - the Lockheed XF-V1 is in fact the Convair XFY POGO -both tail sitters but completely different aircraft by different manufacturers
6:16 That's not a sub it's 3 seater Sea Scooter. A submarine protects its users from water pressurisation and carnivorous sea life. This thing will make a nice meal for a hungry school of sharks or make and anchor out of its users if it loses power.
The tail sitter was not the first vertical takeoff aircraft that was project natter for airplanes. The first practical aircraft to achieve vtol/stol abilities was the vs300 helicopter
Never before has such a huge collection of death traps been assembled. I marveled at the wasted time and materials on these insurance adjustors nightmares. Keep 'em coming! 😃
The Surface Orbiter and Sea Ranger, looks like they were inspired by the Landmaster featured in the motion picture, "Damnation Alley." Damnation Alley is a motion picture before my time but is well worth seeing this classic. The vehicle featured in the film was a fully functioning vehicle that operated as it was described in the motion picture. Damnation Alley is a 1977 film. The special effects were extremely good for the time. The reason it is seldom heard of is because it was dwarfed by Star Wars, A New Hope.
I have slight firsthand knowledge of both vehicles you speed of. As a young ma, I was working at my dad’s welding shop when a man came in and asked if we would please remove the American flag on the flag pole in front of the shop. For 3 or4 days they filmed parts of Damnation Alley at the wrecking yard next door and in front of the shop. I still have yet to see such a neat wheel arrangement. In the early 90’s while enjoying a few drinks at an open air bar in Georgetown Exuma The Bahamas, I saw the Surface Orbiter as it stopped by for supplies on an around the world trip.
@@tracylemme1375 Wow! That is incredible! It is amazing that someone else has had exposure to these amazing vehicles and knows what I referenced. Damnation Alley would have been an enormous movie if it were released two years prior to New Hope.
t's time to move from personal to public transport. I, realized a fantasy into reality. Created a new kind of "self-moving sidewalk". Convenient, safe, comfortable. Looking for sponsors.
I get the impression the real reason a practical flying car is still yet to appear isn't really the engineering per-se (although that's not exactly easy either), it's the paperwork. To drive one you'd need; A driver's license, a pilot's license, road insurance, aircraft insurance, annual airworthyness certification, and once it's over 3 years old it needs a road worthyness certificate annually too, then add tax.

That Nord 500 looks awesome, but hey, if Aerospatiale couldn't make it sell..... The Surface Orbiter, my dream vehicle :) Looks like something similar to a movie (Desolation Alley?)
#13 is actually two aircraft. The featured aircraft, the Lockheed XFV-1 shown on the ground never achieved vertical flight, but flew only from the wheels depicted. The footage of a flying vehicle, is of the Convair XFY-1 'Pogo' which started all flights from a vertical take off and finished with a vertical landing. A third 'tail-sitter' aircraft aimed at the same (later abandoned) military requirement, but not shown here, was the Ryan X-13 Vertijet, which also achieved vertical take-offs and landings. A little research goes a long way...
in the necker nymph how do you surface without getting decompression sickness because it seems like it's focused on getting you down really quickly but on the way up really would be quite boring in an open submersible
@@davidlynch7666 yeah I guess this video is a bit vague. When Imagine a submersible I would assume a 100 foot dive with proper accent time; and since being a submersible would have stowage for at least 1 tank per diver so they can "anchor" and extend their dive. It's still cool. Thanx
That Two seater Beta helicopter is cool. 32ish made. Be sweet to barn find one, digging it. Something like you'd see in the original Thunderbirds series.
The #5 inflato plane thingy was all so supposed to be packaged for dropping to downed pilots in remote areas . It could be air dropped in a crate with CO2 bottles for inflations but only it could be used where at there was a clear flat place for take offs. A nifty idea but unrealistic for acshully using.
The tanker style would be the best for ruggedness since it starts with a solid hull and structure. Ever thought about a 'foilborne' operation for the water portion of the craft? The foils of these type of craft have advanced a great deal since this vehicle was first conceived. The propulsion system would need to be possibly re-configured on the side of how it is directed into the water. This type of change is not as difficult as one might think, the hardest part of the shape, design, and configuration of the hull has already been 'sea tested' so to speak. Let me know if further development is going to be done with this equipment

Many of the flight pictures in the vid are of the Convair XFY-1 "Pogo Stick" aircraft which was in parallel development with the Lockheed XFV-1. The Convair ship had a delta planform and the Lockheed ship had about the same wing planform as the F-104 Starfighter. Whatever which ship was involved and whatever the terminology; the entire program was a failure due to the reasons stated at the end of the video despite spending quite a chunk of change for the prototypes. More careers were ruined/ended working in VTO than SSTO [Single Stage To Orbit].
one Innovative vehicle that was missed is the Maral autogyro. this clever vehicle uses a drive shaft similar to wanting a weedeater to power its main rotor from 2 cylinder Cushman Motor I believe... with a throw of the lever it can hover in wind speeds of like 12 knots. underneath is slung a container that serves as a water landing bloat and A Cargo Bay all at the same time! with dog latches on the door it seals weather-tight and Carries up to 14 sheets of plywood. not sure of its range but it's manufactured in Germany so if you look it up they no speaky English...
#15 doesnt even really fly i saw the rope holding it up as ir went in circles so im thinking that half or just some are not even real Great video God bless you
He sure did give it his best shot. We all saw the cable and realize it never flew. Mullers creation was still worth including and a good one for discussion purposes. Thanks for the feedback.

THIS VIDEO IS A MUST!!! . THE AMAZING INVENTIONS PEOPLE ARE SMART ENOUGH TO PUT INTO A WORKING VEHICLE IS EYE CANDY TO WATCH!
Thank you too much
#3 makes me a bit sad, it's a really good idea! The sea ranger too!
4:33 I saw a Cessna equipped with a hover skirt landing pad so that it could land on water or on snow in the Arctic. This is very much like that, but not a full airplane.
NUMBER 6 IS PERFECT FOR THEJOB IT HAS. WHAT GREAT CONCEPT PLANNING!!
MUCHAS GRACIAS.. GRAN INFORMACIÓN
I enjoyed this video so much the first time, I had to watch it again!!!!
You're the best!
You were right Minds Eye , some of these vehicles do amaze me!!!!!
Enjoyed this video. Thanks guys. I would like to see a collection of unusual vehicles that are actually in production. Keep up the good work.
I kinda like #6
You have to watch this video for the hover craft if nothing else! cool watch!!

They all amazed me!!!!!

The Tanker absolutely #1 in my book !

Hover Wing, Surface Orbiter and Colani Sea Ranger are my favorites.
No doubts , #12 woohoo !! Hovercraft , with wings !!!!!!
Never before has such a huge collection of death traps been assembled. I marveled at the wasted time and materials on these insurance adjustors nightmares. Keep 'em coming! 😃

I really liked all the amphibian vehicles. Thanks again for the continuously good videos.

The vehicle in that movie was very cool, would like to own it.
10:36 Whaat! An inflatable plane!
I really like the surface Orbiter DSO, from Humble Beginnings. That is the one that I would love to own.
Of all the garbage on this video that's the only one worth mentioning. They should make an entire video on it.
5:01 So, how many stars does this score for pedestrian protection?
Just back to explain that "Movie Star potential"" is when a scene stands out in the viewers mind after the movie ends!
I built a one of a kind helicopter that is revolutionary
RIP Luigi Colani
I wonder if the inflatable plane also comes with an inflatable emergency pilot, like in the "Airplane!" movie?
Darrel Owen
And hopefully with an automated inflation mechanism for the pilot.
Yep... all you have to do is blow him (up)

the helicron was reportly the basic model for chiitty chitty bang bang
I'ld love the inflatoplane.
That was pretty cool
WDF...🍗🦃😄
i love watching these guys mind set through putting the item together if that makes sense
Sea Ranger...Big Time!
I had a Matchbox car just like this Sea Ranger back in the late 1970s.
I think the tail sitter concept could be viable now with modern computers and lidar.
Nicely done video. And the attractive lady at the end was nice too.
liked the hover craft and still do but the price put it out of reach!!dang

Cool vehicles, I find it amazing that #5 was never used in a James Bond movie.
The gorgeous chick at the end is my favorite part of this video.
LOOKS TO MUCH LIKE FLYING SAUCER LOL

Can you stick to one unit of measurement? I’m American but I would rather hear metric than have to hear both of them over and over and over again.

I like this. Many innovative ideas, and even if some of them didn't become a success or worked very good I respect them who really want to try it out!

The girl at the end is a robot😂😂😂
Wrong. She's an android. Good grief.
Are you?
They really are unusual!!!
I do not find them too unusual. But I, myself, am strange and unusual.
the best part was the super hot girl at the end
That Nord 500 looks awesome, but hey, if Aerospatiale couldn't make it sell.....
The Surface Orbiter, my dream vehicle :)

Damnation Alley. Thanks Google
The last one, the Z Ranger, pure Wild Thornbury's Combi! Smashing!
Another very good video and thank you for your time sending it out
You're very welcome. We appreciate your feedback. 👍
best part of the vid is Casey at the end
Wanna see the 1st one on the streets ,100 miles per tank, how much could iit hold 3 gallon

Now I see where the design idea for Thunderbird 1 came from :)
6:20 Now there's a machine just dying to give someone the bends.
I think the girl at the end has it by a long shot .
I go to watch the video and my screen goes black. Wtf
