This shit hurt my heart. He was a kid yo, literally a kid, you could see it in him sometimes he was just sooooooo happy to finally be out and he worked for his. I hate who did this to him. Broke my heart
_Curvgotti he was doing bad stuff tho age doesn’t matter when you stepping into a ruthless grown man business just because you in the industry doesn’t mean you don’t come from that underworld he was starting a whole worldwide popularity movement 💡💭
Man I can’t stop playing pop smoke music this guy was gonna go to another level this year😭😭😭 RIP POP SMOKE
R A fr bro, listening to snippets of his unreleased songs is more heartbreaking, dude was so talented
chill out, he died is why his music is banging now
@@fiifiidatrap342 dudes just trynna get likes
@GotAL2Say pop smoke took it to another and better level
Fii Fii Da TraP wtf is talking about clearly you haven’t listen to his first mixtape
Pop was on a different level!! He was what was needed in this day. His energy, sound, deep voice, personality, intelligence...it was so needed and felt good and I’m 36! He was an old soul. Super talented and dope! It’s so tragic!! He was a baby. I hate that people cannot let another person shine!! Why kill? Just be inspired if anything. Smh
I feel you. I'm 41 and believe this too. You from NY?
Agreed on everything, RIP. But the only thing that's not needed in the future is some of the content, hip-hop needs to leave the gratuitous violence glamorizing behind. I'm done with any hip-hop that includes bars along the lines of "shoot a nigga, kill a nigga" without rapping about the repercussions of murder and violence on the community.
@@LikeYayHigh I'm glad someone said it. I agree his voice alone stood out, and was a great change from the southern drawl that's been so ubiquitous. but we didn't need more music about black men getting murdered for sport and territory.
Brooklyn always come with that energy
Intelligence?🤨
Pop Smoke was a old skool new skool artists, he brought that 90s NY rawness into this new skool era, its gonna be very hard to come across another rapper like him. He was the next 50 Cent, is the best way to express how rare it is for talents like him to come around.
We have such a small few talented artists!
Yea, Pop was gonna make aggresive rap popping alongside the melodic wave. Now let's hope that rap can still be the norm instead of a niche
Agree man, I'm 32 years old and he completely took over my stereo these last 4 months. He brought that new vibe but was still SO NEW YORK.
Not ready to forgot The Woo like that!!! Rip Pop Smoke
His sound was definatley 90's influence
I wish he was able to hit the Jamaican/Panamanian sound in his music. That would have been incredible

What Rory is saying is unfortunately why social media is generally stupid IMO, with some positives to it. People have too much power and use it for stupid shit like accusing his friend of setting him up, for example
Yeah these internet detectives are dumbasses at best. Remember when they accused that guy of killing x just because he was nearby eating a burger
People have always behaved like that. Social Media didn't invent rumors and accusations. People blamed puff for setting up big, suge for setting up Pac. When someone gets killed like Pop and nothing happens to the person right next to him, they are always going to become a suspect. A wife gets killed, the husband is immediately a suspect, a kid dies they look at the parents.
the joe budden podcast is a big part of the bullshit, they are hypocrits
marek falk not really
It’s very logical accusation bruh you can’t deny a red flag once you see it it’s not about being a online investigator it’s just common red flags that people are not picking up on
Pop was my new favorite artist. I was so excited because I had tickets to his upcoming show. He's been on repeat the last year, and even more so now.

@@PGlll just checked. I got it a couple days ago.
Wow...I’m so sorry you won’t be able to see him. This is still wild 😔
His signature hip twisting dance was gonna take him straight to the moon! He was overly talented & had ENERGY for yearsss🕺🏾🕺🏾🕺🏽🔥🔥🔥
Joe made a great point about how New York artist get taken away right when things start popping and their careers are taking off. This pop smoke death hits different cuz he was really bout to make the city relevant again as far as having a special sound that was needed in today’s watered down hip hop game. I’m 31 been a hip hop head my whole life and honestly the last couple of years I lost some love for how the agendas and certain things were being represented in hip hop music. I miss the old 50 cent , Lil Wayne, Dipset era of hip hop. My fav rapper is Lloyd Banks and I bring this up cuz I wanna make a point. Besides Griselda pop smoke actually had me excited again for New York rap music. It’s very sad and I do hope they catch these suckers. And honestly I’m tired of our rappers getting killed in LA I know it’s not right but LA gotta give us some answers cuz this shit is enough already.
He didn’t say they were he said he misses that hip hop era
Ebony May thank you
AntiqueKids Lloyd banks is from south side queens NY lol

What about Tekashi?
I never cried over an artist crying but I was tearing up man I really did listen to pop when it first started, at first ima be real I didn’t fuck with it at all I didn’t think it was produced well but after multiple listen the style he has grew on me.
Respect💯KEEP GOIN UP🌪
Mal is the OG of reiteration 😅
I'm with Mal... The most they give a person, is one day to trend on Twitter... And then ppl just carry on... It does feel numbing... If anything is shocking, it's learning who the person is... But the act... It's just crazy -- and ppl don't care anymore... I felt like when everything happen with Biggie and Tupac back in the day... It shook everybody up, and the entire culture got low and start shifting, and moving different 🤷🏾♀️
It's Just Shay the world keeps moving though
The Internet makes the world move faster
Yeah, just think about how these murders happened in comparison to Pac and Biggie. Not to make their situations less sad than it is, but for example: Lil JoJo from Chicago made a career for himself and made a whole diss song against the entire Black Disciple gang and got murdered for it. (He was in the rival gang Chief Keef and Lil Durk were in). Or indeed Pop Smoke. Back in the day they would be dead superstars now.
You just said it 👌🏼.. you just really have to look at this generation’s mood swings .. when it comes to death this generation really gives off the “born alone die alone” sort of arrogance .. but it’s not so much arrogance but like Amal said “life just goes on” or Pac saying “Life Goes On”
it’s sad fs, but i got my own life to worry about, these celebrities are strangers
He was a young 50cent in the making 😰 I'm not numb I'm saf! 50Cent was really hurt. He said protect him at all costs 😓
Can't have another rapper take his style unless they got his voice..Very unique.

When Mal introduced his music on the pod,I went directly too it. I'm 40,I was digging it,lol. I was like who is this nigga? I went down that little rabbit hole on RUclips and his music. Was really hoping Pop Smoke would have worked more with the UK Drill scene like collaborating with Headie One. But those who clowned him before never got it. You can't help who you're influenced by and he chose to not only work with UK Drill producers once but on more than one occasion. When people can work together from different countries they reside in and break bread together and elevate together that person always deserves respect. 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
he’s got unreleased music with mandem here. Fredo, Young Adz. I think Kojo too and he was in the studio with M24 so hopefully they cooked suttin together especially cause he actually makes drill and the others don’t.

Let’s stop ignoring the fact that not all rappers are being targeted. It’s only the rappers that bring that type of negative energy. All the gun play and gang gang in the lyrics unfortunately brings that exact energy to you. Let’s talk about that.

Rappers rap themselves to death. Stop taunting your enemies on wax and on social media like shit can't happen to you, because it will.
The streets aren't loyal to anyone, so why give your loyalty to the streets..
Don’t forget about capital STEEZ rip
Never forget Capital Steez.

The culture and the community needs to boycott violence in Trap & Hip Hop music ARTISTS needs to stop rapping about it WE as a community need to stop playing it.
How Sway???
if any rapper talks or raps that street life then why are we even surprised he lost his life to the streets when it comes to gun violence. Like of course Tupac and Biggie are beloved and we will miss them even Pop but Hip hop needs to stop saying "we need to stop the violence " but turn around and play the artist that reference the senseless violence in their raps. And I believe people moved on quickly because he died prematurely as far as a rap career goes and he came from the streets, rapped about it but not shining a light on it, and died by it. But prayers and condolences to his mother his family and fans.
So if they stop rapping about it then the violence will stop? C'mon bruh...the problem is much larger than some words on a song. We're talking about a socioeconomic tsunami that people of color worldwide are trying not to drown in. Boycotts? Censorship? Those tactics are far from effective and usually create worse problems. Hip-hop is not the problem. Don't let the media decide that for you. Hip-hop is what was created BECAUSE of the problem. Let's stop punishing artists for the situations they came out of and let's start punishing those that created those environments to begin with.
@@daimyojohnson2506 See this is great. Thank you for your input. Hip Hop was created to go against the system but guess what the system promotes drugs, violence, and degradation of women * ie KILLING NIGGAS / ROBBING NIGGAS FOR THEIR SHIT. When you hear the legends rap and why they have staying power is because how they paint a picture with their words. The kendricks and Coles of the world talks about drugs, women, and violence shining a light on or storytelling. But never senseless all I'm saying some rappers don't have integrity in it shows up in their raps and when it catches fire its played non-stop putting those words into the subconscious of lil niggas in the hood who play it 24/8 and wonder why they they unknowingly act out these behaviors. Idk it's good discussion though
Carlton King you speak facts!! R.I.P to pop smoke but you saying some real shit..ppl dont understand how music influences your subconcious mind..

@@MrSilverdash if you know you know... The writing's on the wall bro
Rory👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Joe, there was an opportunity to take a stand and draw the line for the younger generation listening. To double down on your part of the streets and attribute this great loss to street games. And really laser in on the importance of following your dream inspite of many other lucrative opportunities. That these games follow you for life EVERYWHERE. And to make the best choice with their future in mind, even tho it's hard. Jus sayin. But maybe I'm asking to much. No shade no cap, jus sayin. Ain't nobody gonna listen to me, but you... you kno. Peace✌
I get your positive point, it does follow you to some degree and kids should do better but we don’t know if this was “street related” in today’s world you just don’t know and we can’t assume, it could have been deeper than just the “streets”, sketchy shit happens and can not always be about gang banging or anything related.

We portray this daily in our music and interviews...so to THEM it’s normalized for our genre and or culture...Because other genres are having artist passing or oding and it’s not covered on tmz like hip hop is. Ijs
I been waitin for this episode
Someone need to do a tribute song for pop and have dj premier scratch hook the Jay-Z part from moment of clarity saying "Pop Died"
People are already desensitised. people forget the next day. none of these rappers will ever get justice. We get given a bullshit story by TMZ and people blindly believe it. whenever anyone questions it they are disrespecrful.
I haven’t listened to Pop Smoke much but the fact that he was only a year younger than my brother really broke my heart. I see what Mal is saying by being desensitized because this happens so often, we’re like “Shit another one?!”. it sucks because these are young people. Young people who are grinding and trying to make a wave for themselves and the culture. When they’re taken away from us in these ways, it’s like they don’t get the chance to make their mark and pave their way. Death shouldn’t be around the corner for these young people who are trying to create content for our culture. They should be able to thrive and make their big splash without death creeping around the corner. P.S. Fuck TMZ for posting that video of Pop Smoke in the ambulance...Jesus have some integrity.

He wasn’t having a party they were out clubbing, got home at 4, hit the sack and they broke in. Pop rents the home. He probably heard the break in and confronted them and got shot. Listen, NYC rappers are losing because they don’t know how to move. They’re really first and second generation immigrant trying to be cool. They’re like Kwame or Kid of Kid N Play trying to act street. That shit just doesn’t work.
Rey S. Lowkey
Darryl
Low key true, huh?
Rey S. Yea you right they don’t know how to move at all
Rey S. Half my folks first/second generation immigrants but you do have a point. A lot of these poor Caribbean immigrants in NY grow up looking at the street culture in LA and Chicago and try and emulate it to look cool. At least down south the sets are typically started by dudes who moved out of LA/Chicago, but in NY these kids are making it up as they go.
Afro Cubano-Americano
I know. I think the funniest example is Taxstone saying he woke up one day and just decided to be Blood. I was like “Nigga, it doesn’t work like that”. Tax is a black immigrant and we see what happened to him. I think you’re right about first and second generation emulating street culture. But I also think there’s another problem, where you have black immigrant parents in NYC, who don’t teach their immigrant children black American history. They simply say “Yankees are bad” and that’s it. Their kids are left with a false depiction which may make them normalize behavior black Americans consider abnormal. Like, a lot of Black people in LA did and do not gangbang, and gangbangers tended to be the outcast of the family for gangbanging.
I'm still mad they took Pop from us.
I agree people should have more discretion. Only say positive things and don't be rude to people who are hurting
