About three decades ago, a friend told me, "Jesus is allowing that you carry a cross." Loss of a child, multiple surgeries, including hysterectomy, followed by divorce and homelessness while in medical school in USA. Resistance to become a "token" to superiors, while in residency training, led me to eventually leave the medical profession. Games people play in hospitals can result in patient suffering & I couldn't accept that. My Catholic faith and values were criticized by others in the medical profession. The burden of suffering can be truly overwhelming and understanding the "why" may take time. Clinging to the smallest seed of faith may seem fruitless, but God will throw drops of rain often enough to remind you that He's with you. I'm educator now.

I have very little faith in the Roman Catholic Church/Religion. Too many additions, unbiblical teachings, extra-biblical teachings (best as I can tell), teaching of a false gospel with little or no assurance (and an emphasis on our works over Christ's work), the introduction of so many pagan-ish practices (lighting candles, repetitious prayers, emphasis on rituals), lack of emphasis on biblical teaching, Catholic's general ignorance of the Bible (as is the case with most of those who profess to be "Christians"), claiming Apostolic succession and infallibility... yet being plagued with scandal throughout the centuries-and as of late, perversion and abuses and cover-ups. What is the outsider to make of this? Why should one be Catholic?
Amazing how you believe in something that doesn't exist. Faith isn't fact.
Do you know that God does not exist for a FACT... or is that just what you BELIEVE by FAITH? Who said that FAITH = FACT? Everyone practices some form of faith! (Ever get a prescription from a doctor? Eat at a restaurant? Drive a car? Sit in a chair? Etc.) What FACTS can you share regarding the most fundamental questions of human existence? (Such as: origins, meaning, morality, and ultimate destiny.)

Amen! You hit it out of the park today Fr. Mike. Speaking of trees, I was just up in the Adirondacks yesterday for a day trip to enjoy the fall foliage. It is so beautiful and it is only one of the millions of miracles of God‘s creation that literally do increase my faith. Up there I feel that I am in a natural Cathedral.
We live at the beginning of The Adirondacks! The color is awesome

Ever notice that so many talk of faith and being saved, but often completely ignore or twist Bible scripture that is directly applicable to them suggesting otherwise.
For example; How many people are divorced, remarried, and/or just live with another gf or bf?
Yet, they claim to know God, but don't pay any attention to what Jesus said in Matthew 19:9 "And I say to you: whoever divorces his wife, except for unchastity, and marries another, commits adultery; and he who marries a divorced woman, commits adultery."
Thanks Be to God and the Catholic Church for telling the truth and giving me the faith to listen, so I can get my life in order.

I don’t recall who recommended this to me decades ago, but when the priest elevates the host, I pray the words of Saint Thomas when Christ appeared to the apostles in the upper room.
“My Lord and my God, I believe.”
Then add:
“Help me in my unbelief”
