- On the internet, when people outside the Balkans talk about the Balkans it has become almost customary to talk about the area as if it is a living meme where ultra-nationalism, corruption and poverty mean nothing "real" and consequential but are just props for the entertainment of the usually western audience which views the region in a highly exoticized way. Some will say that the memefication of the Balkans is just for laughs, but in reality it perpetuates an image which doesn't correspond to the reality of the people who live in the Balkans and reflects a hierarchical relation between the people of the Balkans and the countries which generate most memes about the "crazy Balkans".
In this video we'll cover the complex history of the region of Sandzak, beyond the stereotypes, nationalist claims and exoticizing oversimplification. We hope that you find the end result interesting.

Interestingly enough just like how bijelopavelic or Vasojevic tribes at that time were bilingual in albanian and slavic before being fully assimilated today, is kind of how Niksic and Drobnjaci tribes had been with slavic and vlach until the 16th century

i am partially from sandzak(novi pazar) and it's quite obvious that a good portion of so called "bosniaks" from sandzak are albanians in origin, especially from the eastern part of sandzak/pester area(proven by genetics and historic documents)
a lot of their paternal haplogroups are connected to albanian tribes from northern albania/eastern montenegro/malesija, especially from the kelmendi/klimenti tribe etc.

Sanxhak before it was called Sanxhak belonged to the dardanians the Illyrian tribe of the present day of Albanians Sanxhak people are 85% Albanians which were assimilated
Sandzak / Rashka was under serbian rule since the early 9th century with temporary bulgarian / byzantine overlords due to them having the serbs as vassals. The first known serbian dynasty called Vlastimirovic actually established their state in today´s rashka that lasted till about 960 AD. There is even a seal from one of their rulers: The seal of prince Strojimir, a descedant of this lineage.

In the next video you should talk about the Sandzak Muslim Militia, a Muslim militia that collaborated with Italian and German occupation forces during WWII. They were mostly made up of ethnic Bosniaks and Albanians from the region and were allies with Croatian and Albanian fascists/collaborations. They fought against both the Communist Partisans and Chetniks however they were eventually defeated at the end of WWII as the region was absorbed into Yugoslavia.
You have wrong information sir, i am from that region and i have family members who where member of that militia. Let me explain you Cetniks want to do etnic cleansing in Sanjak and Bosnia. In Sandjak Pave Djurisic u have that on peper collabred whit Italians for muntion and with Germans for strategy thats why hé was given a medial from the Hitler.
When nazi's and the cetniks lose the war a lot of cetniks svipe to partisan and thats why Bosniaks of Sandjak militia didt trust them because they know them thats is olso the reason why they cilled Rifat Burdzevic later on the same cetniks in Partisans. That is the resion of fighting whit comunists and a lot of them like Osman Rastoder, Kadrovic didt want to go woth the comunist because they forbit rhe religion of any kind who dodt go with them they get killed later on after the war so get your information straight

Sandzak is firstly and foremostly a mixed region and far from homogeneous in any way. Its literally a center of the Balkans, it cant be pure albanian land in any possible way. Some Sandzak Bosniaks can be cousins of Albanians but they are NOT ethnic Albanians :)

Sanxhak is 100% all Albanians with Orthodox and Muslim religion. But Serbian athorities today and during Yougoslavian time putted presure on those peopel and removed all theirs rights, so now Albanians with Orthodox religion called them selfs serbian and with Muslim religion call them selfs Bosnians. So Albanians have lost their true identity. I know this because i am from there.

Sandžak was part of Bosnia for centuries. Bosniaks lived and still live in Sandžak.
”Bosniaks“ in Sanxhak seem to carry a high % of E-V13 instead of I2a. Albanians & Greek mostly carry this haplogroup, Kosovo-Albanians even got 40-45%.

Sandzak became a part of the VIlayet of Kosovo in 1878 after Austria occupied Bosnia.

U forgot to mantion Iliricum and the land of Bassania or Bosna today wheree Sanjak in that time was part.
Second U forgot to name when slavs came and later Namaja hé found out a nation with their own religion Bogu/mili. And the kingdom of Bosnia and their king Tvrtko.

And Tito would give the autonomy of this region but the MNE and Serbs where agaist it. Half truths and half fallacies. Yes Nemanja did came from Zeta to request the adaption of Raška, they were originally Catholic, but then converted to Orthodox Christianity due to Saint Sava or Rastko, however there is no evidence that he cut the “chiefs” tongue, no scholars supports this.
Another thing is, since you know the truth about “Sandžak” and it’s not the original name of “Raška” or “Arsa” or “Ratka” which in other words means “Warrior” in Slavic terms.
Just because Serbs and Montenegrins called “Sandžak” does not require them to know the truth. We all know the truth. It’s original name Is Raška or Ratka, or how Albanians called it “Arsa”
