@@blargh039I just read that update, and if I read it, it doesn't say next update will bring those features. It reads as if it's an update for Quad Cortex compatibility, but they say that the functionality of using Archetypes on the QC, will come in a later update.
So it reads as if it's just a 'infrastructure' update for future abilities that will come in later updates?
      From the website:
------ *Does this mean I can use 'Archetype: Plini X' on my Quad Cortex when it is released?* ------
"Not yet! [...] There will be a CorOS update in the future that introduces the functionality required to support plugins."
"By that point, we intend to have more plugins finalized for Quad Cortex compatibility, and we will continue to release more QC-compatible plugins in batches."
"We will also update these plugins to include the new global features such as the Transpose, Doubler, and Metronome. A Live Tuner will also be added to the global features."
I think it doesn't say that the detuner, doubler etc will come with the upcoming Plini X update or am I misinterpreting something?

Downloaded the trial version. Played it for about a half-hour. There are definitely some great tones in it. Pretty easy to dial in (easier than MKIIC+).
Dynamically, I like it better than my other Neurals. Seems like the spikey top end is tamer than the others. Doesn't get as woofy on the low end. The reverb and delay are gorgeous.
The jury's out on whether I'll purchase it. I have 6 Neurals already. Don't know if it's giving my anything THAT much different. Need more time with it. If I didn't own any already, I'd buy it, Petrucci, and MKIIC+.

I also can waste time and noodle hours just with Gojira's very beautiful shimmer on a clean and very wet delay+reverb'd patch. Love that.
Also it has like wayy over 10x more artist presets than any other Archetype I own, which isn't much of a pro but I like that as I don't like to spend too much time tweakin' from default lol

Archetype plugins are not supposed to be collectables imo they are there if you really want to get a hang at the sound of one artist, that's why there's so much overlap.

I really wish they'd add an FX loop (like for instance axiom). Plini is still 100% my favorite plugin (looking forward to the update for full midi compatibility) and I like to use it stand alone but it just is a bit under powered. The "it's Plinis setup so you can't have more" is such a weak weak excuse. As if Plini is never going to try something different or new. The plini is basically a 5150 suite for me, I'm not there for his name.

@@mitsuki1388 "Official" licensed amp plugins are nice, but there shouldn't really be anything that stops them from doing single-amp plugins even if they can't secure the right licenses. Just call it something reminiscent of the real name and tweak the look in the skeumorphic UI enough to have plausible deniability. They do unlicensed amp models in the Quad Cortex after all. Plus, unlicensed amp plugins could probably be slightly cheaper for the customer without them losing too much of the profit margin.

It's not hard to tell what kind of amps these are based on their topology. The first amp is definitely Vox-based, the second amp is, as John said, an American style thing (likely the lonestar), and the third one is just a high gain amp of some specification - most high gain amp models are literally just subtle deviations of the SLO circuit (Which is all the EVH amps are).
Like... They try really hard to tell you without getting sued. The Corey Wong is literally a F*nder (lol) and a D*mble.

Perhaps folks like to see if the model/capture compares to the actual real world amp? I have "American" amps by Mesa/Boogie, Bogner, VHT and Splawn so the "American thing" really doesn't narrow it down much :) I guess at the end of the day we just turn knobs until it sound good but I like things to look how they look in the real world. if tis a Mark IV Boogie, make the thing look like a Mark IV Boogie :) @@Diax1324

Get away? Yeah absolutely. I have played for years (31 to be exact) and I went through a period for years where I sold my amps of doing just that.
Is it ideal? For me personally no, mostly because the round trip latency was a bit off putting and after a while affected my playing. Is it going to be fine to get yourself started and getting a good sound? Yeah absolutely.
Plus you will be able to play whenever you want and along to other music without upsetting neighbours which will incentivise you to practice. And recording and reamping will be easier.
