- NZ Rugby head of professional rugby and performance Chris Lendrum said: "You've got two great coaches who have been having some robust but constructive discussions on the approach to drive the All Blacks over a period of time now. Ultimately, they have made a brave decision that they believe is best for the team," Lendrum said.
That’s what happens when you hire too many head coaches and expect all but one of them to be assistants

Great transparentsey by the NZRU. Get it out of the way nice and early, clear the air, inform the public, keep moving forward. Wash, rinse, repeat.
Awesome to see more pressure being piled on the ABs. This is real character building stuff. How the ABs respond to this pressure will be a good indicator on how they move forward for the rest of the year.
The last time this happened Jason Ryan was brought into the squad and the ABs beat the Boks at altitude. They uncovered gems like de Groot, Lomax and Newell.
Yeah, this is good sign. They will respond in the positive. I'm really feeling a lot more confident about our chances in the next two games now. I think we'll win both games, but if we don't, as long as we're able to compete and push the Boks to the end, that's something to build on.
All blacks fans can be delusional boks are too strong, too powerful, too fast and way better I think the all blacks will improve it's just that this boks are a different cattle of fish

Relax your undies brother, I'm just playing. I can sense the hairs on the back of your neck arc up. Agreed, we ABs fans can sometimes come across as a little delusional when it comes to competing with Boks and us thinking we actually have a chance. But, you must understand, 100+ years of world domination in this sport made us delusional and a little complacent. You know what I blame it on, the 57-15 points win we put on the Boks in their own backyard. Initially that was a shock, but when we backed that up with a 57-0 drubbing, well, that was a game changer. I was fit to be tied.
Good luck for the game. We know the Boks are the baddest cat on the block. We want our boys to make good account of themselves, which I'm sure they will.

Since then the teams have been pretty even, although the damage done between 1996 to 2018 will take some time for the Boks to make up for.

Boy, it doesn't take much to get you guys riled up and to be honest, watching you guys getting triggered can be quite entertaining at times. But, as a whole, its quite sad, pathetic and tiring. Here's some history for you. AB players with Maori and Pacific Island heritage were not allowed to travel to SA up until 1970. That travel ban was at the request of the SA government and SARU at the time. Non-white AB players were classified as, "Honorary Whites." Nothing like an insult to kick off your tour. One could argue between 1924-1970 SA never really faced a full strength AB team in the Republic during that period. And even when those players were allowed to travel there were conditions.
Touring International teams had major issues with local officials in the Republic. They couldn't be trusted to referee fairly. Check out old interviews by players and management. Un-sanctioned tours were taking place during the isolation period. Rumours of bribing international officials were rife once neutral referees was mandated.

Oh no, now they’ve only got a head coach, forwards coach, assistant/attack coach, defence coach, specialist attack coach, a performance coach, mental coach, fitness coach and a nutrition coach.
Good decision. There had been too many coaches. Players might have been victimised for their roles by some coaches. I think it's too much to process as a player for understanding and executing what each coaches demand. No doubt both the coaches are good in their own ways. Best of luck for Leon.

Normal practice in the pro era, SA has 7 too, much bigger organizational & admin team behind that too. It's not about quantity it's about how they can collaborate or not which is contingent on the Head Coach leadership like Rassie😊

@@mitakon21 I don't recall such large numbers until later in the pro era. Certainly the ABs had 2-4 for many years, up to and including the 2011 RWC with Henry, Hansen and Smith, eg. I don't recall Hansen had a much larger team in 2015 either...

Good. Leon stuffed the blues during covid and we lost that year. He changed the lineup right when we had foot on the throat of crusaders. Never rated him after that

So when they went to interview Leon, how did that process happen and what was being asked? because if his alignment changed from the moment he was looking at the role to now, then Leon is off and changed his agenda.

Kiwi supporters are too harsh on the AB's and their management! How is the team/coaches supposed to rebuild with fresh talent if there is too much pressure from the public to win at all costs? Rebuilding with RWC in mind, there will be losses, deal with it!!

This is a great look, decisive and team-first mentality, even if that means cutting an old mate of many years. Good on him, razor sharp.
These things happen in large professional organisations - sometimes people simply don't align. I don't see any benefit to go through the real detail of what the differences were - that just stirs up unnecessary drama that the AB's don't need. To me this has been handled vey professionally and we should just put it behind us and support the team and coaches. Here's to a great tour to SA!

The all blacks don't need a backs coach..... I haven't seen a backline move in years it's diabolical how forward dominated we are... Even in the last test against the argies the forwards rolled up the centre of the field and the backline looked to have an overlap if not man on man at worst, and the forwards kept doing hit ups so we lost 2 opportunities to score or advance down field.... I'm not surprised Leon left you can't run a backline if the forwards won't give you the ball.

He was attack coach. Holland is/was the backs coach. Attack is about running team Systems like 1331, 1322, 242 shapes and the forward pods interact with the back line

It was clear after week one of the Championship that something wasn’t right. The blacklash in week 2 showed something had changed for the better. I guess this was it.

Basically this blathering means that they had different opinions on tactics. Which is a really bad look, because they should have had basic agreement together and looked at a 4yr plan before applying together for the job. Sounds like they got together as a couple of old long-time-ago mates and then discovered they had different expectations and could not agree. Hell, they were both coaching rival super teams 2 years ago, would have thought they known each others styles like the back of their hands. And pulling out just before a trip to SA, sorry there is more to this than they are telling us. Otherwise they would have just found a way of working through it until the tri-nations were over, at least.
Well they might have decided lets just get through the intensity of the home internationals and then we will sort it. - "working through it ". Wouldn't make much sense in carrying on to SA for two matches when they've had the opportunity/interlude to knock it on the head now.

At some point every single international coach did have international coaching experience prior to their first appointment of a national team.
I think this decision will help the ABs simplify their coaching approach.
Jamie Joseph is a good coach but overated only had a 45%.1 in Japan, John Kirwan had a better rate of 47% even Eddie Jones had 63.46%. Razor and Leon didnt get on they manned up and moved on no biggy
