I don’t build Modular’s, being more into 1/8th scale technic cars. But surely with Lego part of the fun is adapting the sets, I do it all the time to make the cars more lifelike or just better (and change all the pins to a blending colour!) so, adding your own interior setup to the modulars would be fun rather than expecting it to be all there out of the box. Putting together desks, chairs, counters, customers etc.etc.is so simple.. unique and fun!
Another good video. Normally I buy just Lego brand but really want the Ghostbusters HQ and there is no way I can pay the prices they want on secondary markets. Can’t wait to see your city grow. I’m glad I’m along for the ride!
that is the exact set that has me looking at knock off brands as well, Lego isnt out any money as it is years out of print and secondary market on it is ridiculous
@@TheCobraReport secondary market.... Now I think these are the among the folks who get most militant about the 'other/off brands', especially when these other brands make copies of retired sets. Those of us who want a set for its aesthetic or whatever, but are not prepared to pay the often ridiculous prices in the secondary market, will happily buy a good other brand for considerably less. So this impacts the secondary markets profit margins. But hey. I was looking for a small, retired set last year. Some 70 odd on Ebay alone, the day I looked, but all 'Rare' and hundreds of dollars (Worst was over $600). I found a perfectly acceptable other brand for about $20. Does the job and saved me squandering hundreds on over-priced sets.
buying Lego brand baseplates would be a good way to both fix the problem and still support the brand where you can. I have quite a few knock off brands that are built on the name brand baseplates and MILS plate them and it works great
Do you know anything about the knockoff Avengers tower? I really want that set but the official one is 500 and Aliexpress has it for about 130. I don't think anyone has made a video about it.
also i think you should move the movie place on the right of the store then move drs stranges place where the movie place was and the orange building next to the movie place but a road right there 00:29
Nice video! I also recently built this (fake) modular that I bought at a comparable low price from Youmko. I have put it next to the fire brigade building (with a very nice, more detailed and equally cheap clone of dr Strangelove's sanctorum on the other side of the fire brigade). This combination looks great imho.
I like those fakes. The original ones can cost 400-1000 euros/pound and that is insane. I was often lucky with the baseplate or I just connected the next plate to it. To fix it remove all upper floors and decorative bricks/parts. Get a new plate from wange or Lego. Base floor upside down and I guess one could remove the building, leaving a base layer of bricks.
I will try Temu to buy modulars if the price is better than Ali. Thanks for sharing! P.s. I bougth the emporium when it came out long ago; still today is one of my favourite. I would love to see the Natural History Museum too.
As someone that owns the original I find the quality decently compared to the original. The colors are a bit off and the quality isn’t as good as the real deal.
I love this series of fake Legos it's inspired me to just get the knockoffs for the city I'm planning I can get the ones out now but these older ones are too expensive to justify buying
Really appreciate comments like this and viewers like you! Have a great day and I hope your city goes tremendously! If you ever want to talk fake Lego and city building get in touch with me on instagram!
Gads! That baseplate looks awful. My Detective Office wasn’t that bad, and I still had to replace it with LEGO. My Diner baseplate was pretty good. I have a Brick Bank from Ali that I still haven’t unwrapped. My other modulars are genuine. I quite like the exterior of the Emporium. The interior needs a bit more pizzaz though. Mine is positioned at the end of the block, next to Green Grocer. Caffe Corner-> Parisian-> Market Street-> Fire Brigade-> G Grocer-> Emporium. I think that’s the first six.
Gee idk, a display piece that basically sits on your shelf majority of the time for 1/7th the price that basically looks visually indistinguishable? Yes, in no world is it not worth it.
mine too, maybe it was because of the MILS pressure he was talking in the video. But I get it, maybe it was a little stressful. (even if I just wrote to use Ali's bricks and nothing more, btw idk)

It should not be a worth or not worth question. It is legal or illegal question. Playing off-brand building block is not a problem, but if the set is exactly copying from LEGO, it is illegal and not encouraged.
@@BallisticBricks42 Unfortunately those copycat companies also copy current market Lego sets. We should respect intellectual property, stealing other designs to make profit is not acceptable. Lego make zero profit on retired set, but counterfeit product definitely hurt the brand and encourage people buy the cheap knock-off sets and not an excuse to justify the knock-off behavior. Some other brand building block companies do produce their own design products which are really great. You can introduce those original design.

That’s a good suggestion I’ll try it out!
If you change the baseplate to MILS then it will make it stronger and stop the bends..
Been suggested this a lot. Still thinking about doing it, but the price is a daunting put off

I’m looking at picking up the History Museum later in the year. Haven’t got my hands on it yet but have seen it in person and love it!!

hairdryer and some clamps should do great for the baseplate
Might try it, but warmth has failed me before

That’s all you can really ask for with such a great difference in price!
Have you tried heating the base up with a hair dryer or something? might enable you to fix the bend.
Tried boiling water on it and didn’t work, not sure if I got the technique right though
Great intro 🤣
Tried something a tad different😂
