Alternative brick companies can be awesome, but definitely a "buyers beware" situation. Reviews are the consumers' best friend when it comes to budget vs want. Great video!
I would have to disagree in part. It’s the sites, not the companies, one has to be wary of. I’ve been involved in alternative bricks for over a decade and they have evolved quite a bit. We have legitimate companies that are comparable to Lego and will give them a run for their money in coming years. FunWhole and Pantasy are two of those companies. Fantastic sets with great brick quality and clutch and FunWhole’s modulars, I feel, put Lego’s to shame in terms of aesthetics with better offers at a more reasonable price and features such as printed parts instead of stickers and free lighting. Reobrix, generally not the best engineered designs and are at times Moc ripoffs which may not compensate the Rebrickable designer (please purchase their pdf instructions after to help them out) XMork do license sets from designers and aren't too bad. My first Lego KO set, and I use the term Knock Off because I hate the term “fake lego”, was the UCS Millenium Falcon. Still on display after all these years and no issues with the bricks. Won’t say all sets are great, but sets within the last few years are definitely of a better grade as brick quality has gotten better from the manufacturers these KO sets are part sourced. I know this channel and others have made the claim that Kos are being shutdown. That statement couldn’t be further from the truth. There will always be KOs. Ali Express and Temu, both online market places, do differ. Temu is American registered and I have yet to have a bad experience with them. Ali Express, not for the novice, but once you learn the ropes, it is still the cheapest site to purchase from, though I’ve gotten some great deals off Temu. Neither AE and Temu have any direct relationship with companies that source KO sets and shouldn’t be held accountable for the quality of the products. I’ve seen many a comment by a buyer blaming the site, when the buyer clearly goofed by not reading the item details properly or knowing the sites policies. Jumping on, clicking and buying will never garner the best price. I recently got a Riobrix castle set for 50% off. You just need to know when to buy, and where. It typically takes 2-3 months for a KO to be legitimately available. If you see it sooner, it’s a pre-sale listing, stay away.
Best set of the year: anyone with you cosplaying 😂😂 Happy new year, birthday, building, happy time with your family and gf, happy holidays and... Keep buying 😂
A Happy New Year to you too! I started building sets during the Covid periode and have not stopped since. Primarily alternative modular sets and in general of very good quality. My latest set is the Sushi Corner from Jiestar, imho a very nice design with only a few minor weaknesses (i.e. opening doors) and again a very low price (bought it from Barweer). It even has printed pieces, no stickers! Recommended.
Happy New Year! I'm loving the modulars from FunWhole at the moment and have bought 3 so far. Really good alternatives. I did buy my first fake from Aliexpress earlier last year before they were shut down and I was pleasantly surprised. My nephew is a Lego purist and he didn't spot the fake when he came to see my city 😅. I'm looking forward to watching you trying out more alternatives which I can consider for my city 😊
It's a shame you keep calling it "fake Lego." Counterfeit (i.e., actually fake) Lego and legit Lego alternatives are two entirely different things, and the term confuses potential buyers who only know Lego. It also does a big disservice to the time and money the legit brands put into making their products by making them sound like shady knock-offs, which they aren't. And really, if you're going to say "Fake Lego," you should call Lego "Fake Kiddicraft."
Very true, personally I don’t refer to it as fake Lego however for a video like this I prefer too as it’s more beneficial for the RUclips algorithm and for beginners it may be an easier term, however you’re definitely right!!
Question, I use the Lego app to build most of my legos. That being said, do you know if the app can still be used to build these fake legos? Are the fakes a 1:1 copy? Thanks.
