The thing I like most about Skillet is that even though most if not all of their songs talk about god in one way or another, one can easily put their own meaning to their songs. For example in this song you can attribute this song to one or more people that have been very important in your life. This way, even people that aren't religious like myself can still give their songs our own meaning while still keeping the general message of the song alive.
I'm a huge Skillet fan, but this is my favorite song of theirs. I cry almost every time I hear it, but it's gotten me through so many heavy times in these last few years. I honestly thank them so much for writing it
Skillet is def a hard rock sound, but each album they’ve got 1-2 “ballads” that are some of their best work!….Anchor, Stars, Valley of Death, Refuge….I love the banger tracks, but as you said, some of their songs just hit you right in the feels!!
Skillet always have amazing songs. Yeah, indeed their music has a lot of religious references, but the band members do not try to feed us beliefs. They said that everyone can take their own interpretation and is perfectly fine by them, since just like with poetry, a song is better if you can find multiple meanings to it and you can relate to it in different ways. In the Christian world view their is the belief that one of the purposes of our life is to worship God. Music is just one of many ways to do that but it was a joy to see ya catch a glimpse of how wonderful worship is. This a love song to God written by the band and recorded. Been a fan of them for 20 years and almost all there songs are actually just words of encouragement and worship....even the harder rock ones. Great video.

Only about a minute into the song (2:14 into the video), I've been not listening to music for a long time now (once every 6-12 months I listen to around 5 hours of music). Despite Skillet being my favourite band of all time I haven't heard this song before (not surprising based on my listening habits). even though I've barely started I can tell that this is a song I love. Its about God. Truth of it is we're all so blind because we have as a society, bought into thinking we all define our own truth. Its why we're more divided than ever. Blame it on government or racism if you like, but the truth is we need to put away what you or I think and heed God's truth. Its the only way to be united.
