A man with true honor doesn't seek after praise of the world. He just does what he has to do. I thank him,God has him. I thank all Veterans!!!!! A man of true honor for sure!
I want to go to that museum and I recommend others do the same ! The worlds last WW1 veteran passed around 2009/2010 and we must never forget them !!!!
The 1941 Classic movie, starring film legend Gary Cooper was a wonderful picture to be enjoyed by the entire family. However it didn't begin to hold a candle to the life and accomplishments of the real Sgt. Alvin C. York. A true turn of the century war hero. Who changed life forever more for the people he loved in Pall Mall Tenn. Was a great experience to get this true back story to add depth to a great movie.
Just saw the old movie about Sgt York. When i was in 9th grade in Washington DC, we had an assignment to write about an American hero. My mother suggested Sgt York. I had never heard of him at the time ... I soon realized what a great American hero he was. They even published my report in the Junior High paper! I am planning a road trip down to Tennessee this Spring to visit his museum and grave. RIP Mr and Mrs Alvin York
The more I learn about this guy the more I’m blown away. He singlehandedly shortened the war because of what he did. The Germans never regained the railroads after the battle.
I love my state (TX) but I have to say that valley is full of the presence of God. It is not easy to get to - super windy two way narrow road but the beauty, history, home, mill, museum is worth it
Greetings from erwin tennessee!!I grew up with these stories but I couldnt fully understand the magnitude of what this man did until I was fully a man myself!!love the video, but one correction..then private York actually took the machine gun nest and the 132 German soldiers single handedly while his men were guarding the prisoners from the first machine gun hill they took.but anyways if you dont know about Him you're really missing out.especiall I'f you are from Tennessee yourself
Yep I’m actually very good friends with York’s great grandson Thomas Jefferson York the 3rd and he told me he thinks we are kin too so I guess I’m related to a famous war hero if I am kin to them and my grandpa also worked for Andrew York it’s pretty cool knowing you had a famous war hero that lived in your county
Alvin c York son Andrew Jackson York passed away this morning he was 92 years young he was a great man he was the Parke ranger for 43 years in pall mall Tennessee he will be missed very much
The simplicity of being humble often over look and to some , they the humble are the weak . Often a target of words and actions out the mouth's of evil people .
Childhood home? Why didn't the intro get the facts straight? If he lived there from 1920 until his death it wasn't a "childhood home". This is the land and home he was given by Tennessee when he came back from the war.
Apparently he took all the credit for the captured Germans that the whole regiment was involved in. The War Department wanted a hero and 'misplaced' the others' commendations. Bullets and casings retrieved from the French hillside are proof that several American revolvers were used in the firefight. York had several chances to set the record straight but chose not to.

Jane Woods it’s unfortunate honor seems to have very little place in today’s society
This is why i love local public television. You can always find little gems like this 👍
A true Christian American soldier and patriot. RIP Sgt York.

Love American history. I watch the movie just about ever time its on TV.
He is what Americans are suppose to be ! Patriotic , humble and living his faith by his actions , not just words !
He was at least a very deserving recipient of that gift from the people of Tennessee..!
The more I learn about this guy the more I’m blown away.
He singlehandedly shortened the war because of what he did. The Germans never regained the railroads after the battle.
Met Sgt York when I was young. My dad was named after him and we were able to visit him at his home.

I need to get this lump out of my throat. What a great, patriotic American. He rests where he wanted. home.
Happy Birthday June Lockhart (96) who potrayed Rosey York in Sergeant York (1941)
The odds of Surviving the Assault on 25 machine gun nest. Is damn near zero!
A true American Hero.😊
Thank you for your service 🙏 ❤️
A good Godly man that raised his family according to the word of the Lord. You just cant beat that!
His interpretation of the word of the lord.
Only to be expected from a man of Irish decent,
Scots Irish were gentlemen and true soldiers.
Its always interesting seeing home sweet home on videos like this

Just on the Western portion of East Tennessee, the Alvin C York home in Fentress County tells an interesting of the WWI hero.
Alvin c York son Andrew Jackson York passed away this morning he was 92 years young he was a great man he was the Parke ranger for 43 years in pall mall Tennessee he will be missed very much
Andrew was a very nice man.
I just watched the movie....not the first time
There is an episode about sgt york from may 2008 is there any website I can see it on?
His faith was great example also

We toured the house last year… there’s a bullet hole in the door of his office where a young boy ( grandson?) accidentally discharged a pistol!!!
Once upon a time there was a country of free men...its gone now..replaced by sheep who follow orders
It's not only that they just follow orders, they don't think for themselves and they are lazy and just cowardly accept anything that is happening
Thought we would be building a engine.
God speed Alvin
this was followed the story of heroism by Desmond during ww2
Well he is def in the top land now.
I saw Sargent York last night

Been to this property many times..even saved Andy York's life once.
Soldiers from the old days didn't talk or asked to be thanked every dam day for what they did.
Almost painful to hear the narrator mispronounce the towns name.
That and they called the home he lived in AFTER the war "his childhood home".... SMH.
a true american
I live right in there our high school are named after him and is state funded
pow mow?......

See religious people can be good, shame there are so few like Mr York
Katchow
2:00
So, he wasn't the only one.
The movie is full of falsehoods and the 7 others were deserving of much more - York should have done something to correct the story.
He was a fraud
