Just bought a 4 month old one of these for my wife in blue. Really pleased with it. Turned the lane assist off, easy to do in settings and it stays off, no need to turn off every journey.

Lane assist(lane departure) can be adjusted to high-medium-low or turn off completely through settings and it stays that way.

You don’t have to turn lane change assist off everytime. It just saves. I’ve only turned it off once and now it’s always off

Never assume the standard system in a BMW is going to be good - they’re terrible and I’ve owned several in the last 23 years. In fact the Harmon Kardon in the new (g20) 3 series isn’t that good compared to the Harmon Kardon that was in my (f30) 3 series. Lane assist can be permanently disabled even though the seller I bought my car off told me I had to constantly keep deactivating it. I like the live cockpit display, but yes it would be nice to have been able to change the displays. Everything else about my (g20) I love. I’m looking at a 1 series for my wife - it’s just hard to find one with a great spec (HK, heated wheel..) over a good spec.

If you're going to get a fwd car get a proper one like a Corolla or Civic. Not this wannabe BMW

It’s a front wheel drive bmw. That’s enough not to like it. As for change lane assist, that’s an eu directive for all cars 2024 or there about so can’t change it. As for display, another modern car trait which is crap and a status quo being forced on new car buyers. I go out my way to buy older cars that don’t have all this rubbish.

Not sure if you have driven this new model 1 Series, but the rear wheel drive myth flies out of the window!!
BMW have cleverly evened the weight out & the engine has a different layout. It was a bold move by BMW, but it has worked a treat! There’s more room in the back & the boot is bigger, with under floor storage, some even argue that it drives better than the previous 1 series.

Just got one in blue (having came from a Leon FR) and loving it. Both great cars to drive, the stop-start is better in the Leon thanks to the mild hybrid. Despite slightly less BHP and 3 v 4 cylinders the BMW feels quicker especially in Sports mode- the Leon is a lot more linear in its power delivery while the BMW is more “boosty”. Also both have pretty decent sound systems compared to Lexus 😅While the Seat isn’t bad I love how solidly put together the BMW feels, it’s a keeper for sure
