    One the best overview on this camera. This X1500 has exactly the same 1/2.5" sensor and same 25-600 lens with the same stabilization as the VXF1 or VX1, still the X1500 costs more than twice as more? Why is that and is it worth the enormous price difference? My explanation would be that basically it's the 10-bit 4.2.0 4K/60 or 10-bit 4.2.2 4K/30 is that you have to pay. You haven't mentioned explicitly 10-bit but when I was listening to your talk on how is it possible to manipulate the image when editing the video but it's pretty sure because of the high bitrate and color depth of the video files. When light is abundant, it really doesn't matter the sensor size. Still, I'd say that the sensor size is only one tenth of the A7S you mentioned and no way you can can compensate the look of a 200mm f2.8 lens even when you have a 600mm FOV lens on the FX1000. On the other hand, since 4K full frame cameras are not expensive any more, not at all, this X1500 with its 25-600 zoom range 10-bit video is an excellent tool for daylight videography as a complement (not compliment).

    Excellent Video. I've just bought an X1500 and plan buying the top handle soon. I'm mostly shooting with a GH5 at the moment, but have always loved Camcorders for their fast point and shoot abilities. For anyone wanting to do a film with gritty documentary look or even a found footage horror film, a camcorder can sometimes be a better choice than a Mirrorless or even Cinema Camera. It's just a matter of matching the type of camera to the style / visual look of film you're wanting 🙂

    • @PavSZ

      that's what this camera does - the aperture/iris has to change when zooming in if you start from the widest setting. If you change iris to smaller opening (higher f number) it should not go darker when zooming in but you'll need more light for the image to look good

    • @JoachimKlingner
      @JoachimKlingner 3 года назад +2

      hi there,
      Yes, it will affect it! It is widely used at daylight, to be able to widen the apeture to get the same light with the same Shutterspeed, ISO-Settings. Thats the only way, you can get a sweet and short field of depth at daylight.

    • @JoachimKlingner
      @JoachimKlingner 3 года назад +1

      @@PavSZ yes, so thats why you can widen the aperture and get a "better" bokeh/ unsharpness in the background. So the build in ND-Filters is awesome during strong daylight.

      what do you define as low light? I have filmed a lot with this camera in "low light". I use artificial light to give the scene enough light for the camera to perform right but the footage to look like it was filmed in a room lit just with a candle.
      This is no different for all cameras. I usually film with full frame and Sony cameras and they are not good in no light situations either. You need to manage your expectations and your light in low light situations

    HC-X1500 vs. AX700 - I'm really on the fence. I need a run & gun video solution for golf course content. My iPhone 12 Pro is honestly just not impressive to me for this task, and the lack of a good optical zoom is a killer. I definitely want to be able to shoot in SHARP 4k/30, 60fps isn't necessarily a deal breaker. Also, my autofocus on the GH5 is TERRIBLE so I have trust issues with Panasonic in that regard. How's the AF honestly perform on the 1500? I know the AX700 is a 1" sensor whereas the sensor in the 1500 is much smaller.

    • @PavSZ
      @PavSZ  2 года назад

      I have never used AX700 so I can't really comment on that.
      AF of HC-X1500 is OK. Maybe not ground breaking but certainly much better than on GH5

      @@PavSZ I appreciate you taking the time to reply. The panasonic has more of a saturated appearance which I admit is kind of pleasing to the eye, but there's no doubt the ax700 is sharper and has the 1" sensor size...plus you could add in a bit of saturation in post. I'm seeing them brand new for under $1400 now, which seems like a great deal for the image quality. I won't ever need 4k60.

    I use windows 10. This camera records in mp4 and Mov. Would it be
    better quality for me to record in MOV, then convert to mp4 later? Do
    you lose quality in doing so, compared to just recording in mp4?

    • @PavSZ
      @PavSZ  3 года назад

      mp4 is a compressed format - something is taken out of it in order for the files to be smaller.
      Camera is going to deliver best results as it was optimised for it - converting .mov files to mp4 by yourself could result in huge files with no difference in quality or files too small and significantly lower quality. It would all depend on your knowledge of converting, compressions, codecs etc.

    When would you use 50hz compared to 59? Nothing in stupid manual
    telling you why, when, nothing . Computer can't read MOV files or
    HEVC. How do you fix that ? Software for this? Computer doesn't read anything recorded using 50hertz either. Nightmare.

    • @PavSZ
      @PavSZ  3 года назад

      Tricky questions!
      50Hz is used in Europe. This is to do with electric currents. So at 50Hz you would use frame rates like 25fps, 50fps and 100fps to avoid artificial light flickering.
      59 or 60Hz is used mainly in US (frame rates 24, 30, 60, 120 etc.)
      I can't really advise on why your computer won't play those files.
      I use Macbook Pro anb I also can't play most of the files recorded with this camcorder in my default player (quicktime) but they all play OK within Adobe Premiere when editing.
