    Those were pickerel you were getting into. A lot of people mix those up. They're the smaller cousin to the Northern Pike. Loads of them up here in New York. Granted we have lots of legit Northern Pike too, and there's plenty of them in champlain.
    Really tough to fish the bigger lakes up here in pre frontal/windy conditions. Even Oneida Lake, which is my home lake, it's totally exposed to the prevailing winds. If you get caught out there in a storm, you're in for a rough ride on the way out. If it's blowing harder than 12-15mph, I don't go out. It gets really rough in a hurry. And I don't own a 20/21ft Skeeter. That said, Champlain is a fisherman's paradise, that is for sure. As are many of the lakes up here.

      Lake Champlain borders New York, Vermont, and Canada buddy. Fort Ticonderoga is in New York

      Spiral wrap guides. Starting on top they wrap around to then end up downward at the tip like a spin rod. Keeps the line tighter/straighter between guides.
