A very strange case
The idea that after all this time there is not one suspect in prison makes me think. Why? Because this is murder suicide. A very rich and powerful family intimidated the local police department.
It could be a murder suicide maybe the police theory was correct from the beginning.
Forward to hear more about this ongoing investigation, hopefully someday I shall be hearing the final result of this murder case.

seems like the killer was told to leave their bodies in tact, leads back to family respect, so the Sherman's children could have an ok funeral and the bodies discovered in less than 24 hours, sun rise/sun set. Killers likely immediately left the area and were from elsewhere, Vancouver? hunches and guesses
The Sherman's house was for sale, so how did the murderer/s know that they wouldn't be interrupted by a realtor's showing that evening? How would they know there weren't going to be any showings? Also, the murders were discovered the next day, by a realtor showing the house...when was that appointment made? Wouldn't the agent confirm that morning to remind the clients of the showing and get no answer? These were important clients, I'd think you'd give them the courtesy of a reminder, just in case, unless they did the evening before? Also, who left that back door open?

36 hours the two Sherman's were not communicating with anyone and no one was concerned enough to check.. wtf?
Honey had a habit of leaving the one side door unlocked. The realtors tried to call the day they discovered the bodies and despite no answer, decided to show the house anyway.

Kerry definitely have a good reason to do so but he doesn't benefit from their deaths but their son Jonathan does.
Besides the inheritance, Jonathan and his husband owed Barry a lot of money and from the email communications, Barry asked for the return of the loan.
Book was brilliant. I at first thought it was one of the kids (imagine being a kid of a massively wealthy man, but knowing you were born through a surrogate mother. You know who your dad is, but not your mom). Now I think it has something to do with all the people who built the Sherman residence and .... never got paid .... because Barry sued the shit out of for every little reason he could find. Stages not completed on time, shoddy workmanship .. etc. etc. So they ended up with this huge expensive house ... almost for free. Hope it gets solved. Still hope even after many years.

Because what you need is a trained and experienced bodyguard able and proficient in and licensed to carry weapons and hand to hand combat, martial arts, etc,. That's value for money and a heck a lot more than a rent a cop making minimum wage.
The sherman couple never hired or needed private security because their life was never under any threat. If your life is not under threat their is no need for a private security even if you are a billionaire.
