It's wonderful to hear Felicia voice again! She was a dear friend of my mum, but as a teenager I didn't quite appreciate opera and after my mum passed away we lost touch....
Gorgeous tone-and marvellous technique. I'm saving all her recordings from RUclips,so when people ask me for an example of one of the great sopranos,I can send them the links to these performances.Thank you so much for posting .I didn't hear her when i was younger-and I should have.
she does indeed. and I was lucky enough to sing with her when I lived there as well. I'm not sure if she is still living in Munich, but that was the last place I know of.
Absolutely overwhelming, what a voice! Always sad to read that singers (had to)stop early for some reason. I read in a short biography that Felicia Weathers stopped (at least big opera) at the age of only 35 (1972). More superb voices stopped (too) early, like the brilliant Italian soprano Anita Cerquetti, who was hardly 29-30 when she left the stage. Let's enjoy what they left us on record. This Puccini-example is simply marvellous.
@metropolitan1966 Thank you so much for your comment. These comments are valuable contributions for youtube, I wish all contributions had this value! Thanks from the Netherlands.
I saw her operatic stage farewell as Chrysothemis in Strauss's Electra in 1999 at age sixty-one...she looked and move around the stage like a twenty-five years old and sounded like a fresh thirty year old!
@metropolitan1966 Caballe sang Salome, quite early in her career, so things don't always follow. And Price sang a few performances of Minnie in her career but it damaged her voice. Steber, on the other hand, a lyric soprano like Price, sang Minnie frequently throughout her career. I think Price struggled with a lot of roles because she lacked a fully developed chest register.
Greetings!
I think that during the 1960s Felicia Weathers had one of the most glorious voices going - rich, yet flexible, and she also phrased so musically and expressively (as in these recordings). But then she just seemed to disappear. I wonder what went wrong.
She is the best!

She retired, moved to Europe and is doing quite well, thank you for remembering. I'm sure she'll be happy to hear it.

aMAZING AND GLORIOIS VOICE - WHAT A SHAME SHE DIED SO YOUNG, AND DIDN'T GET A CHANCE TO SHOW HER TALENT TO THE WORLD
Gaye Sheppard She's not dead.
Reports of her early death have been greatly exaggerated.

No, I believe Miss Weathers is still living! She lives with her family in Germany, I believe.
