      Do you may know what the cost of buying a house is in Florida in terms of legal fees and stamp duty etc and can a foreigner buy a property in Florida?

    • @MacGregorLassie
      @MacGregorLassie 4 года назад +4

      I would lkve to see a video on the best places to buy a single family home not ON the coast, but within maybe 5 to 10 miles from the coast that would cost less, but would still be near enough to enjoy the water at a more reasonable cost....and also be safer from storm surge. Thanks.

    • @MichaelBordenaro
      @MichaelBordenaro  4 года назад +2

      Closing costs and stamps vary depending on county and if you are financing or paying cash. But is generally never more than 2% of the entire sale amount. And yes, foreigners can buy real estate here!

    Hi Michael, I live in Jacksonville, Fl, from Palm Beach County, Fl ...all I needed to see was the area code 32209 ... you typically want to stay away from, Worst ZIP Code in Jacksonville as far as crime. Ponte Vedra Beach here is the nicest and most crime free area to be.... Now I will say that the Springfield area near downtown is upcoming and becoming very nice, especially for younger people, 1st time buyers... You will get a huge house with a lot of Charm for your money but most will be fixer-upper’s. This area at one point was where all the movie stars and rich people lived way back in the day 😊
    Palatka Florida is an old, somewhat charming city, very laid back, not a whole lot to do there. You do have the beautiful Saint johns river but about an hour from the beach. Starke Florida has basically nothing to offer. Not many jobs, Very poor city and the state prison is there.
    (just my 2-cents)
    LOVE your videos, advice and info... keep up the great work!! 😁

      Being a native Floridian, you probably know a lot more about Florida than I do and I appreciate you giving all of your local wisdom on these areas for any would be buyers. I didn't take into consideration the areas at all for this video, only the price. But the next one this series is going to be a better price point and looking forward to putting it out soon! So glad you love the videos Karen!!

      Michael Bordenaro Oh yes, I absolutely know that video is about price only and I was actually blown away, I never knew you could actually buy a house at those prices. And even though I am from Florida I still learn many things from your videos and enjoy watching them! Would love to see more research re: Saint Augustine (thinking about moving there from Jacksonville because it’s still an easy commute if I had to work in Jacksonville...was inspired from one of your videos) ...and maybe research the Keys, where I vacationed many summers growing up 😊 I recently lost my Dad and have such great memories from The Keys ... thanks again, your awesome!

I would love to do more vids on St Aug and the Keys, but I am not traveling anywhere (overnight) for now due to the virus. Trying to stay on the safeside. Plus, I fee like when I go to these areas I want to be free and experience them just like pre-virus days, and visit the attractions, go to the restaurants etc to really give you and everyone watching the real experience, instead of this crappy one we are having now. Michael, I was thinking a good idea for a video right now would be a kind of vlog filmed over the weekend talking about your feelings and preparations for this hurricane comimg towards South Florida. For a lot of us hurricaines are our biggest fear about relocating to FL and the news media creates so much hype, that it might be really interesting for us all to see the reality of how you feel knowing it is coming and the real impact it has on the life of a person as you live through the threat, the event and the aftermath. I know this is a Cat 1, but it would be interesting. If you cannot do it this time, you could keep the idea in mind for another time. Anyway, KEEP SAFE.

    Hey Michael how's it going today? I was just thinking about some of the questions I have concerning coming to Florida. Wanted to share those with you. If you've already covered these subjects in another video then just don't worry bout answering them.
    1. Hot Springs
    Have you ever been to any of the hot springs in Florida? If so do you have a favorite one? Would you be able to rate for Hot Springs? Are there alligators excetera in the hot springs? Can we go to the hot springs during this pandemic? Have you ever been to the Crystal River area?
    2. Dog parks And where are dogs allowed in Florida?
    Are there dog parks in Florida? Can you take your dog on the beach or are there only certain Beaches they are allowed on? can you take your dogs into restaurants? Do you know anything about the cost of veterinarian services in Florida? I know this can vary dramatically from area to area and state-to-state. Are all dog breeds allowed in Florida? I know sometimes there are restrictions.
    3. insects and snakes and alligators Etc.
    Obviously in the Everglades are going to be Gators. Can you tell us where else we might find these creatures in Florida? Can you give us the lowdown on the bugs? Exactly what kind of insects are abundant in Florida are abundant in Florida? I've heard you are abundant in Florida? I've heard you talk a little bit are abundant in Florida? I've heard you talk a little bit about are abundant in Florida? I've heard you talk a little bit about this subject in another video. What kind of snakes are there in Florida? oh and I might as well ask you about the sharks in the water off the Florida beaches if that is a problem?
    4. Grocery stores and fresh food markets.
    obviously with such a high population I'm sure there's plenty of grocery stores around. But can you tell us about what chain grocery stores are there in Florida? Where are the Costcos located? And lastly tell us about the fresh fruit and vegetable markets. Organic and are there many around the state?
    5. Lastly I'm sure there are Healthcare facilities in every major city. Have you heard anything about one city being Better equipped than another as far as hospitals and Medical Care go?
    Sorry for any typos and also I know some of these questions may seem obvious and simplistic :-) I'm just old so thank you for your kind patience :-)

I know your goal is not too just make money but also to provide many of us with information and you doing a great job. I don't know about hot springs, as far as grocery stores go they have a few different varieties from what I've seen and public grocery stores everywhere. Every now and then depending on searching for the closest fruit and vegetable market and stand you can buy fruits and vegetables from the side of the road and random places. They're going to be bugs everywhere but you should be okay. Don't know much about the other stuff.

'shows well'' ( as long as you look at it from the street ),..'' motivated seller;'' ( whatever you offer we will take),...,....and this classic '' water view''( a puddle will form in your front yard after it rains''. Thumbs up! Well done and helpful as always. I have been planning a return to my home state of Florida to "retire" (whatever that means!) but which is currently on the shelf due to all the uncertainty. Anyway, my plan was looking at condos (mostly in the Treasure Coast or Bradenton/Sarasota) in the $100,000 range with HOAs in the $300 ballpark since I would be pretty much on a fixed income. However I am now considering going a bit higher to buy an actual house which could maybe be cheaper in the long run. Of course the cheaper stuff is generally away from the coasts or in shadier areas (and I don't mean from the palm trees!). Anyway, I've been Zillowing out with an eye for that sweet deal -- and of course watching your videos :)

    This is purely for entertainment right? Good of you to point out, that the luxury community in Boca will charge $75k membership. Another problem with just surfing (Cheap) houses on Zillow, is that the 55+ deals will float to the top, and unless you're 55, useless distraction. If you really want to present some budget deals that are realistic, maybe Vero Beach or Sebastian. Not too far from civilization, but still affordable, close to the water, and growing enough that the house won't drop 50% in 1 year. Another wild card place I toured on my last visit was Cape Canaveral. Some real blue light specials there, that you really can't know from the ad if there are mitigating circumstances. Thanks for another entertaining vid.

You could save by doing some of the construction yourself, and if the price was only marginally more expensive to build new, probably a better idea 👍

      If a house has been listed that long and I am the listing agent, I will probably make a strong negotiation with the owner to sell, or walk away from the deal. Yes I think it's safe to say as a buyer it would be a red flag. However, don't discount the property if you like it you should actually look at it and possibly even make an offer and have an inspection done because if everything checks out then it might just be an overlooked deal because Sometimes when a place is on the market for too long people just stop noticing it. If you are planning on settling for a shitty job and have no ambition to pursue a real career, some of these cities may be what you are looking for. But if you are willing to spend half your day driving to and from work then a lot of these may be for you. But there are tons of people moving to FL.
