Steiner is an epitome of a true athlete to show perseverance and mental toughness when dealing with a loss of a family member, and turn it into an amazing performance.
It was the same with Joannie Rochette when she won a Bronze Medal in Women's Figure Skating at the 2010 Winter Olympics just a few days after losing her mom due to a heart attack, or Jackie Barrett who set three Special Olympics World Games Powerlifting records at the 2015 Special Olympics World Games just 9.5 months after losing his mom to cancer.
Interesting thing about Jackie Barrett is that he has German roots as his mom's paternal family migrated from Switzerland and Germany to Nova Scotia during the 18th century as part of "The Foreign Protestants".
