The problem with Asmon is that when he's not playing anything, he's thinking about Cyberpunk, but when he's playing Cyberpunk, he's thinking about Wow.

28:07 I think the game that deserves to win, should win, regardless how many times. It's just spiteful to deny a game's accomplishment just because you feel like the others should win out of pity.
yeah it is pretty dumb. Asmond forgets things like artists and composers exist. People that would love some recognition for their amazing work they did. But because they happened to be also in the game of the year means they shouldn't get that? A shit game could still have the best soundtrack and best game also does not mean you have the best soundtrack.
Starfield is a simplistic game. Not much backseating and things to stress him out. I think it's probably the reason he was able to play it more than a game like Cyberpunk that can be confusing with it's skill trees and sheer amount of quests.
Part of the reason that Baldur's gate 3 had such good performances is because they have incredible character animations. I don't know how much of it is reused as it pertains to the body motions and language but they definitely have hundreds of permutations, it always feels natural in Baldur's gate 3.
have you ever seen Jaheera ingame? she is waving with her arms all the time looking completely ridiculous. but besides her, yes, character motion is the best ive ever seen.
I still feel like some of the old bioware games are more enjoyable than baldurs gate. It's just a genre that has been dead for some time and baldur's gate didn't do anything terribly wrong so people like it. It's not an amazing game though...
@@girthatbirth It's literally just a bioware game there's nothing special about it on a formula basis. Play DA:O. Each background has its own like 2hr prequel story to start the game that is COMPLETELY separate from one another with an entirely different cast of characters, environments, and story. There's 6 of these. You can choose which companions you recruit, who lives and dies, and your choices have dramatic consequences in the course of the story. You can save a city and go back there anytime or let it fall and have nearly everyone there die. You can side with a group of elves or side with the werewolves that are trying to kill them. Or even pick a middleground option. Whichever you side with will show up at the end of the game to fight with you. Baldur's gate isn't new. It's just been a long time since a game like this existed. As far as I'm concerned, nothing tops DA:O and the Mass Effect trilogy...not even close. Most of the people freaking out over Baldur's gate are just young people that missed the bioware phase. Bioware has sense forgotten itself and Baldur's gate picked up the formula.
And complete games where the devs listen to feedback and actively improve the game with patches bases on said feedback, they implemented a whole new feature to change appearance in the game and an entire new ending with voice acting and new cutscene based on feedback
I do feel that Hi-Fi Rush should have been on the list for best art direction. Creating a game where the literal environment has to keep pace with the beat is such a monumental amount of work and it’s just great to see a game that’s so bright and colorful.
You didnt have to play BG3 to see its impact. People who never played a CRPG in their lives were picking it up. You can also talk about the absolute metric shit ton of content the game has for $60, making it one of the best values on the market. I think Raphael's Final Act is one of the best boss theme's period. It really gets the point across that he looks down on you and doesn't see you as a threat in the slightest, until you kick his teeth in.
The vocals were the worst for me , I even cut the music at some point ( did the fight only two time), everyone is different. I'm not saying it is bad but it's too much orchestra imo
@@nauxoh I might agree with you if it were a real time fighting game, however, given that BG3 is turn based i think it enhances the mood of the fight greatly with no negatives (for me). It really fits a fight with a devil who assumes they're going to mop the floor with you, only for your party to educate him and his cohorts by turning his insides into outsides. It also makes sense for Raphael's pompous character to bring out a grandiose orchestral piece belittling those he thinks of as mere toys in order to intimidate or demoralize them.

Man started out by saying "im not going to vote for BG3 twice".. the problem now is that you are not evaluating the nominees on their merit and what they have achieved and which one actually deserves each award, which is what should be the goal when giving the awards, but instead you are distributing the awards among the games you think deserve it or might have missed out in other categories, and sure some games deserve recognition and dont win, but we only get a game like BG3 that sweeps everything once in a generation, once we get it in my opinion it deserves ALL the recognition no matter the cost. ESPECIALLY since BG3 is also telling the entire games industry that being ethical works, you can make money and sales without a shop or cosmetics that cost ridiculous amount of money, that being important enough, the game was also beyond words AMAZING, thats why IMO if it sweeps then it sweeps, they deserve it man.
Its hilarious how Asmon says hes voting for Super Mario Bros for game direction because he says he hasnt played alan wake or totk. D4 definately deserves best multiplayer. They connect players so much they even load the inventory and stash of all players you ever see into your RAM.
I voted for BG3 in almost all of the categories it was nominated in, the VA category was tough because damn that's a lot of talent, but I have a soft spot for Astarion.
Id go for Clive, even though the game disappointed me a bit his VA was insane. You are right though there is a ton of talent here and I wouldn't be mad if half the list won.
One thing that sets BG3 apart in this category in my opinion is the way that it has multiple narrative paths, so it is harder than a streamlined narrative as in the other games
Baldur's Gate 3 got one of the best receptions I've ever seen in my life. Always happy when a developer nails it with a great title. Resident Evil 4 killed it also. I had a great time with that game. Bug-free, ran perfect and it was exciting the whole way.

"Would you only want a game to win one award?" No...Absolutely not. An analogy. Prior to Return of the King, fantasy as a genre was a goof. Anything nerdy was not popular. Return of the King at the Oscars that year wiped the floor winning in every category it was nominated in (11?) and paved the way for us to have the fantasy genre taken seriously. (Edit - Ok lol. I hadn't made it up to this part of the video where he makes this exact reference.) Almost 20 years later, Larian drops this monster of a game on the world, and developers everywhere are screaming that people should not expect that level of development in their games. To which I say no. We should. We should expect the developers that are so in love with what they are doing that, as a metaphor, are willing to put in a scene for a bear fucks a vampire. BG3 should be the game that makes that kind of statement to the devs. It should win all 7 categories its nominated in. Not only as a statement, but for the sheer merits that are brought to the table. In every single category that its nominated in, it is far and away better at everything it does. I want to see games win more than one award.
I don’t understand why Asmongold is so hesitant to play any of these games. Why continuously put time and effort into playing games that have let him down continuously in the past or are just outright terrible, instead of games that universally-accepted as good? I understand Zach will not enjoy every single genre to ever exist in video game history, but it certainly helps to avoid burnout of the same archetype when you dive into something new. Additionally, who’s to say you can’t return to MMOs or Soulslike games down the line?

Remnant II isn't getting enough love. The fact that it released the last week of July and still outsold major triple A games released in that same month is a huge testament.
Remnant II was amazing and if it had been released in a different time, probably more people understand how fun the game was, but it was released a few weeks before BG3 that it just got over shadowed sadly. Ive had more fun on Remnant II than BG3 and I enjoyed playing BG3 with my friend + wife.

While FF16's soundtrack didn't resonate with me as much as other FF titles, the track, "Lovely, Dark, and Deep" (the track that plays when you and Cyd are going through the forest in Rosaria for the first time) is absolutely gorgeous.
That track also how it speeds up and goes harder when you are engaged in combat and then slows down and back to a more calm melody all done so seemlessly, it's so fucking good.
Mario deserves the award for art direction. They managed to make a 3D game that animates like the old 2D games with key frames and whatnot. That's a large reason why it looks so much better than the New SMB games and the 2D sections of 3D World.
it deserves recognition for the art direction, but I don't think that should give it game of the year because gameplay wise it didn't really feel like it changed up much, and it's really short and easy.

Bg3 was very succesful but I'd argue its still niche enough of a genre that zelda Tears of the kingdom could have it beat. We already know its either bg3 or zelda anyways. Out of the choices those were the two biggest games this year Think about it, breath of the wild won goty 2017. And tears of the kingdom took botw and improved apon it in every aspect, adding hundreds of caves, an entire underworld and Upper world, made the world actually feel alive by adding way more npcs, a few new outposts and sidequests that required to help restore areas, a hybrid of traditional dungeons and divine beasts which pleases both old players and new fans from botw. They made zelda and the master sword actually feel important unlike botw, and the main world from the previous game is completley reworked. People complainee it was just a dlc even tho they literally had to rework the whole entire map and make it look familiar but different for the new mechanics. They added a physichs mechanic to the game that was so revolutionary and complicated that it pissed off developers from other studios. I mean the sequel to botw is so good it makes such a popular game like botw seem terrible. Which to an extent botw had some big flaws
Genshin deserves it. It's a disgrace it can't be nominated for the music (apparently because it's a live service game). It would be winning in that category every year. Whoever talks sh&t about genshin is either a troll, hates anime in general, or has a huge prejudice against the games labeled as "gacha" and judges genshin without even playing it, ever.
This is actually a perfect example of why audience votes are meaningless. 90% of the audience will not have played most of the games on each list (apart from complete no lifers), so it will devolve into either a popularity contest or people picking what they have played. Asmon plays videp games for a literal living, and even he didnt play most of these games for long enough to know what he was talking about.
This is an issue even in political voting, as large majority of people voting are uninformed or ill-informed. There was a reason voting was originally tied to property ownership in the US: meant you had skin in the game and likely would make informed decisions at the very least. It’s akin to having people vote for GOTY and having the voting requirements be that you actually owned the games.
Not like all the official outlets like all the IGN's and Kotaku's of the world are any better. So many of them are disingenuous as hell and half the time they come across as hating video games all together.
Yeah, everyone knows game awards are simply a popularity contest, yet everybody still treats them with respect, it's bullshit, the sooner people realize this is just like the oscars and the better the gaming industry will be for it I fucking hate the fact gaming went so mainstream, it only draws in vapid bullshit like this
I think one game that deserves all the awards should win them, for the different departments that played a part. I’ve been saying the same thing about FFXVI not being an RPG and people get UPSET. The weapon upgrades and levels could not be there and the experience would be the same.
I thought deep rock galactic got nominated for best community but guess not. I'm very surprised it didn't it's by far the best community i've experienced in a video game, the game motivates you so hard for comradery and being nice to each other even the forums and reddit have no toxicity.
BG3 deserves GOTY but not direction imo. A lot of people have literally replayed acts 1 and 2 before ever even touching act 3 because it's so incomplete, and they're just waiting for patches. Game is amazing for what it does and definitely had the cultural impact for GOTY but I don't think you can objectively say it was directed better to release an unfinished game over something like Mario Wonder that was actually extremely innovative for the genre.

@@Musickkk baldurs gate 3’s narrative isn’t anything special, it’s just huge in scope, that’s literally it. Being so large in scope hides it’s flaws as a story and since most of it is down to the players choices it’s hard to criticize it for some people. But some of the storytelling is just nonsense at times albeit most of it is good. It still is far less cohesive and overall better than something like ff16 and isn’t even close to Alan wake 2 or phantom liberty. Alan wake has an extra layer due to how it functions on the basis of almost everything being a detail for the overarching premise, so you have to pay attention to literally every small thing, and that’s really cool and far more deep than being spoonfed mostly generic fantasy cutscenes. Phantom liberty is also enhanced by the world building of edgerunners (a masterpiece of a show), and the base game as a whole which always had a great story. Baldurs Gate simply doesn’t have the same layers of quality that these 2 games have for its story. In terms of music, colgeras theme is homage to wind waker and fits directly into the setting of the game very well. Dragon roost island’s tunes play alongside the song so it’s more than just “generic fantasy music”, which is ironic considering literally nobody praises baldurs gate’s music when looking at the games strengths. Both Zelda and ff are known for their music, and their newest games are no exception to this trend. For reference, check out the amount of memes colgeras theme has on yt.
This is where non-FromSoft souls-like games tend to suffer. As an example, I completed Lords of the Fallen through NG+2 and I can’t actively remember any of the soundtrack because it was weak. Asmongold you set Tekken as the videogame and the others as search terms, this means that you got the original Tekken against all Mortal Kombat and all Street Fighter. If you set Tekken as a search term they follow each other pretty closely except for when a new title is released.
Baldur's Gate definitely deserves to win most of those categories... think of it like this - it's winning 10 years of awards all at once. Absolutely deserved.
Asmond has no idea about fighting games at all mortal kombat is huge but the most popular fighting game of all time and the game that made fighting games into a household name is street fighter, you don’t need a stupid graph to tell you that
Did he really say ToTK isn't transformative? The game that had other devs scratching their heads trying to figure out how they achieved what can only be compared to as black magic?? Look I can read the writing on the wall and know that BG3 will get GoTY. I didn't even play it but I know it's gonna happen. But if we are talking about "Game Direction" which is defined as "outstanding creative vision and innovation" then I can't even conceive of ToTK not having that in the bag. Who knows. Maybe I'm delusional. That's just what I think right now.
The only good thing about the game was building the mechs. Nothing else really mattered, the combat was still ass and the weapon durability and exploration is all from the last game. Story, gameplay, temples, whatever, penis robots were cool though.
Apparently judging by Asmon's logic, CDPR deserves an award for finishing the game that was supposed to be finished on release. And remember how they didn't show any actual footage for current gen consoles, didn't let game journalists show any of it and released it anyway, when it was so unplayable, that Sony deleted it from their store? I remember. Truly something that deserves a celebration.

Finally someone with common sense, i could see BG 3 won GOTY and TOTK really nailed the inovation and direction parts so it would be crazy if people votes for BG 3 in that category.
Not voting for BG3 in other categories because its GOTY just makes the other games feel like they are receiving the equivalent of a participation award.
Make a Best New IP Award and showcase it before the game of the year. Make the award open to developers big and small. (Starfield still would not make the list)
Hater also I think probably would help starfield a bit more to be honest to make up for not being part of the game of the year nominee Hater Starfield would end up on the nominee for that
Alan Wake 2 deserves an award for innovation in method of storytelling. You play as two protagonists that switch between each other, on two separate but connected “timelines” with so many references to art and the heros journey combined with real life videos inside their games - it’s just storytelling that no other game has ever done before.
Great storytelling techniques for a godawful story. Overlapping timelines and alternate versions of characters and other dimensions, it's basically a Western dev's take on kingdom hearts. Like just rename Scratch to Alxan already lmao
I laugh so much at this post. “Switching between two protagonists”? Oh wow! Halo 2 called! One of your protagonist is a god damn Mary Sue. She has the power to know things that is so powerful she doesn’t even need to do detective work to figure it out! The mind palace is a joke in terms of storytelling. If Alan Wake 2 is “innovation in storytelling”… never mind. I can’t even think about it without bursting into laughter. Alan wake 2 and great storytelling couldn’t be more of a lie.

Bg 3 has better music. Period.
im not a troll, i love anime, i love gachas, i played genshin to the point of unlocking multiplayer, and i can say that in my opinion the game sucks.
He plays WOW for most of his life, you mean 😂😂😂
This is an issue even in political voting, as large majority of people voting are uninformed or ill-informed. There was a reason voting was originally tied to property ownership in the US: meant you had skin in the game and likely would make informed decisions at the very least. It’s akin to having people vote for GOTY and having the voting requirements be that you actually owned the games.
Also nobody can play all the video games of the year.
GOTY is just for entertainement it s impossible for something like that to be truely legitimate.
Not like all the official outlets like all the IGN's and Kotaku's of the world are any better. So many of them are disingenuous as hell and half the time they come across as hating video games all together.
Yeah, everyone knows game awards are simply a popularity contest, yet everybody still treats them with respect, it's bullshit, the sooner people realize this is just like the oscars and the better the gaming industry will be for it
I fucking hate the fact gaming went so mainstream, it only draws in vapid bullshit like this
18:00 "A Space for the Unbound" had a really nice story, art, and great OST. Hard recommend.
Baldur's Gate 3 made many people not only play their first CRPG but THEIR FIRST COMPUTER GAME.
I think one game that deserves all the awards should win them, for the different departments that played a part. I’ve been saying the same thing about FFXVI not being an RPG and people get UPSET. The weapon upgrades and levels could not be there and the experience would be the same.
Sad to see FF16 not get nominated for GOTY. Even tho I know it wouldn't win, I at least want to hear it in the orchestra ;-;
I thought deep rock galactic got nominated for best community but guess not. I'm very surprised it didn't it's by far the best community i've experienced in a video game, the game motivates you so hard for comradery and being nice to each other even the forums and reddit have no toxicity.
Only toxicity in deep rock is those 3 random online lobbies that kick anyone under prestige 3, and double dipping resuppliers. Rock and Stone, Miner!
Award shows are run by people who hate gamers and actually good games. Of course they wouldn’t nom it.
Deep rock does have the best community I’ve ever scene
I think it was community support, so to what extent the devs support the community
well this is the geoff awards so it's extremely biased to what he likes and what he wants to garner more attention aka rigged
Doug doug should be in creator of the year. That man never fails to entertain.
BG3 deserves GOTY but not direction imo. A lot of people have literally replayed acts 1 and 2 before ever even touching act 3 because it's so incomplete, and they're just waiting for patches. Game is amazing for what it does and definitely had the cultural impact for GOTY but I don't think you can objectively say it was directed better to release an unfinished game over something like Mario Wonder that was actually extremely innovative for the genre.
for sake of conversation, i agree but when it comes to the actual awards, i really hope that bg3 wins all the awards that it deserves to win (which aren't all that it's nominated for).
If I saw BG3 I voted for it. It deserves to win every single category. Nothing in modern day gaming even comes close. Except maybe FF14.
@@Arasia_Valentia perverts definitely taking the win for 2023 goty
@@yellowbeez93 perverts?
@@Arasia_Valentia I think ff16 had better music, imo & simply bc of the nature of how the game plays, the 1st playthrough should be played solo, so I voted multiplayer for something else as well but otherwise, I agree.
@@crazys89 I mean, I love Yoshida with all my heart but once I heard Raphael’s song and did his boss fight I was convinced. Astarion also has a song that plays when you stand behind his tent called “I want to Live.” It was made specifically for him. Other companions also have subtle song difference near their tents. The elf song tavern, if you rent the upper floor, has Balduran’s Song with full Lyrics. I feel like BG3 has better thought out music design, from a lore perspective, but it’s harder to find and experience.
Winners win. Baldur's gate 3 needs to win 4 awards minimum. There's at least that number were BG3 was that ahead of everyone.
I hope BG3 wins a lot they deserve it!!! ❤
I feel the same way… for FF16
its a good game, but if you looked back at the games they made previously you would know its nothing new to them, in fact, DOS2 is better in some aspects, like, BG3 just feels like an update to that game, and its really good! Dont get me wrong, the game is great, but its just more of what they have already been doing. FF16 WOULD have had my vote, but somehow a remaster took its place as nominee.
@@s1n1st3rs0ul it's interesting because i saw a lot of DOS players saying that BG3 is just the best game Larian has ever made
@@akaRyuka just becuase there are better aspects in a previous game downt mean that the newer game isn't better overall, becuase I do think it's better overall, but I personally don't find it good enough to get my GOTY vote... well. Compared to ff16 as I said, though it might now since ff16 isn't up there
@@akaRyukaeh, my one gripe with it is concentration spells. Too easy for concentration to break and having to recast them is honestly an annoyance. Great game but I prefer DOS2 personally.
The fact the Starfield isn't even a nominee is laughably fantastic.
@@themysterykid1you are reaching. At the top of the video Asmon reads someone mentioning starfield being nominated for 1 category & this is a video about a list of games up for awards 😂 is starfield not a game & weren't a lot of xbox players saying this was goty before the game came out? What does playstation players have to do with it not being nominated for goty? You seem a little butthurt 💀
Starfield was trash and I own Xbox series x and hate PlayStation
@themysterykid1 it's not even a matter of console wars the game was simply that bad
It’s nominated for best RPG, what are you talking about? You shouldn’t lie just because you don’t like the game.
@@dannysmi7162 they're talking about Starfield not being nominated for goty award because xbox players were saying it was goty before & after it came out. Calm down 😂
I want BG3 to win EVERYTHING over any big gaming companies to send a big message to the industry that we don't the Money First way of designing games that is dominating the industry at the moment. Not only is the BG3 game f******* awesome, but it also allows me to play without constantly reminding me to reach for my wallet.
Baldur's gate 3 is the definition of the BEST RPG, so obviously it should win the BEST RPG award.. in addition to the game of the year.
Tbh anyone who doesn’t vote for bg3 as Goty either hasn’t played it or is a huge Nintendo fan
If the overpriced Breath of the Wild stand alone DLC that took 6 years of development to add bells and whistles to an already existing game gets the award, I'm going to lose my shit. Most disappointing anticipated nintendo release of all time. I still cannot fathom how people were giving it 10/10 reviews with it being the exact same thing it was before development started.
Obviously, nintendo fanboys.
I am torn between two mind set regarding those awards:
- I want Baldur's Gate 3 to run over the competition so that more dumb businessmen of big studios will start to get what this game brought as a positive to the community.
- I want more game to win awards because they surely deserve it. Even if I think that, apart from fame, it doesn't give you anything really (Am I wrong about it?)
BG3 deserves to win 7+ awards
the game is good, but that does not mean everything it has is perfect.
@@Sephirothkingdom782 I didnt say its perfect. I said it deserves to take all awards the game was nominated too. Nothing is perfect.
@@Musickkk it does not deserve all the awards. Especially the music. I couldn’t name you 1 piece of music in bg3 as iconic as colgeras theme or ff16 music.
@@Sephirothkingdom782 are you kidding me? Down down by the river, I'm not even saying about Raphaels theme in act 3. Iconic.
ff16 theme is good, but for me just another epic fantasy tune. Same about colgeras theme. Good, but basic. I agree. mb in this topic we can argue. But best RPG? Narrative? What else was there? 100% ez BG3 wins right there.
Fromsoft has amazing boss fight soundtracks, ludwig the holy blade from bloodborne is my favourite to this day. So good!
IMO Fromsoft games have the best soundtracks in all of gaming, particularly Bloodborne and Dark Souls 3
This is where non-FromSoft souls-like games tend to suffer. As an example, I completed Lords of the Fallen through NG+2 and I can’t actively remember any of the soundtrack because it was weak. Lies of P, though, has so many great musical elements that I found myself sitting in areas just listening to the music
@@gigabit6226and the old Zelda/castlevania games
Baldur's Gate is obviously gonna win (and rightly so). But what aboud Hogwarts Legacy or Star Wars Jedi Survivor. They should have been on the list tbh.
"My honest vote for Game of The Year"
Even tho i haven't played a single one lmao
This GOTY is gonna be Baldur Gate award. Nothing comes even close to BG3 whenever I see it as an option.
And Neil MUST win award, I haven't seen such entertaining character as Astarion since RDR2
Asmongold you set Tekken as the videogame and the others as search terms, this means that you got the original Tekken against all Mortal Kombat and all Street Fighter.
If you set Tekken as a search term they follow each other pretty closely except for when a new title is released.
How are you gonna vote when you only react lol
to be fair he didn't really voted
Yeah he didn't voted, he just give his opinion. But if he voted, then its gonna be can of worm.
Baldur's Gate definitely deserves to win most of those categories... think of it like this - it's winning 10 years of awards all at once. Absolutely deserved.
Viewfinder is really an amazing game for me, I hope it wins at least one category.
I agree with you but I'd blame all that on greedy corporations not the devs
I agree with this console take, but I played it on pc. I had bugs, but overall I thought it was an 8/10. The recent updates and expansion made it a 9/10 imo
@@ACViper This. As a PC player, it was always a good game. Even the Steam reviews reflected that sentiment from the start.
Its crazy to me how much love Asmon gives to Holocure, absolutely based.
I feel like BG3 is a no brainer, goty. It's probably the best game I've ever played.
I really hate how remaked games are allowed in this lists, grabing a good game and just change a few things and graphics, shouldn't be in the same place as a brand new game.
This isn't summer camp you don't get a trophy for participating, awards are supposed to be merit-based, thank god a game can earn multiple, i've played most of the games in the main categories and BG3 is miles ahead, including best soundtrack (play it and get to raphael's theme to see for yourself how amazing and memorable it is).
Honestly the game is a masterpiece of art, but you'd have to play it to know it !
>played most of the games
>BG3 best soundtrack
Nice one. Chapter 4 of AW2 singlehandedly deserves best soundtrack and it's not even mentioning a whole ass original playlist on top of it.
@@coupdegrace2767I like BG3's music more, but I can't refute that Alan Wake 2 deserves this win.

Alan Wake 2 was an incredible and an insane experience, definitively best game direction, its a movie and a musical in the game ffs! But Baldurs Gate 3 even though its such a different game its just ofc GOTY, decade even.
Definitely best direction
Idk about game of the decade id give that to Elden Ring but BG3 was good
I hope ironmouse wins content creator. It's been a wild year for her. Tons of games. A crazy subathon. Charity events. Collabs. music/ Music videos. All while dealing with her health. Pretty goated year for her.

I'd only want her to win because I've never heard of any of the others. Who tf are these people?
100% agreed these past few years she has been doing amazing events while battling her disease/health and it has been wild this year with so much she has done such an inspirational creator and person.
@@atrocious7766 I could ask the same, who the hell is iron mouse? Sounds metal but just looks like some anime thing.
In think the fact that TOTK did so well is a testament to how ridiculous good their game mechanics implementation and design was. Because outside of that it feels very iterative. I would not have bought BoTW 2 without that inovation.
Remnant 2 was a big surprise, great game! Holocure was a great diversion in between games and a lot of fun.
Make a Best New IP Award and showcase it before the game of the year.
Make the award open to developers big and small. (Starfield still would not make the list)
Hater also I think probably would help starfield a bit more to be honest to make up for not being part of the game of the year nominee
Hater
Starfield would end up on the nominee for that
Alan Wake 2 deserves an award for innovation in method of storytelling.
Alan wake 2 and great storytelling couldn’t be more of a lie.
man asmongold is the only one that can make a 40 minutes video on games that he didn't play
The "Games for Impact" category should just call itself what it is, award for the best game nobody's played.
It's the ESG awards for most buzzwords
Man, as much as I love Armored Core 6. I do hope it wins something, its just too niche of a genre that I really hold some doubts about it winning one.
Its in action game. I think it has that at laeast
The fact some devs literally said don’t expect our games to have as much content as baldurs gate 3 😂 i think that speaks volumes
bg3 or botw would honestly get my vote. between the two id like to see bg3 get it to send a message.
Send a message? About what? Popularity=better?
@@Sephirothkingdom782 are you serious? The game was in development for a very long time not rushed out the door. The developers actively listened to player feedback. The game has 0 micro transactions. Co op is a thing. The controls for both pc and controller have been fully optimized. The company is less popular then other triple a competitors. Did you not see the tweets of angry companies like Ubisoft? We need smaller companies to dethrone these big ones badly. Oh I get it reading your other comments you only want botw to win.
@@TheBubbRubb what? Most of that has to do nothing with the actual game itself. 90% of the things you talked about falls into the community feedback category, by your logic no man’s sky should win goty since it constantly fixes things, it’s massive, has no ptw micro transactions, even better co-op than bg3 and a lot less restrictions. That’s not a good reason to vote. Totk is simply the best game out of all the nominees because botw was already a masterpiece of an open world. Fighting a lynel alone is better than fighting any enemy in bg3. Colgeras theme alone is better and more memorable than any piece of music in bg3. The art style is very vibrant and the main reason as to why even the empty sections of the game feel servicable. It has 0 micro transactions, and co-op isn’t even needed since this is a single player game first and foremost. It’s like complaining that sekiro isn’t great because it lacks co-op.
I love how Game awards is the only awards show that everyone is so invested in seeing who wins in today's generation
“Basically Breath of the Wild with building.” The building and crafting were game changers tho.
where was Hogwarts Legacy for GotY? surprised that wasn't there
Hogwarts legacy not being on the list whatsoever is actually criminal. And we all know why its not on there...we all fucking know. And that is pathetic.
