    Thank you for sharing. Going to change mine this week! I saw some folks who lower the spare tire to have better access to the fill/drain plugs, but you made it look easy!

    Thanks for the video. My 2012 has 132k on it, and I just did this for the first time. The fluid looked a nice clear red, but smelled burnt.

      Burnt smell is not a good sign my man. I'd start changing it every 20k to make sure you don't have issues.

    You should never drain the diff. Before checking that you can remove the fill plug first. If you drain, then can’t refill it your screwed.
    Other then that, nice quick how-to.

    Great video! You helped me change out my Pilot's diff fluid for the first time ever.
    Sorry to laugh, but when the bolt broke loose at 1:40, I thought "ouch, that looked like it hurt!" and noticed your broken skin. At 2:10, I saw the cut and the blood!

    Thank you sir! I just bought a 2013 Pilot, and kept reading some exotic sounding services (CarFax) on the rear diff... Like some special equipment is needed, as quite a few said "flush" the rear diff... Flush the rear diff? WTF? How do you do that? What does this mean, and or entail? I have changed many a diffs, and never have heard of this flushing the diff, LOL! Thanks again.

    Hi. Great video. I changed my oil as the VT-4 light is on. I filled until it started to drip out. I start the car and the light and yellow engine symbol is still on. Ive not driven it since the change. Is there a code reset i need do after the rear end oil change? Then today i start the car and i have a dripping oil can symbol showing. ??? Why.

    • @fixinit
      @fixinit  4 года назад +2

      4HisGlory07 You need a scanner to check the code or codes causing the check engine light (yellow engine symbol). Whatever is causing the CEL to come on is probably contributing to the VTM-4 light. You don’t have to reset anything after your rear diff oil change.
      If you don’t have a scanner, your local Auto Zone or auto parts store can scan the car for you free of charge.
      The dripping oil can symbol is usually caused by low engine oil level. Check your engine oil and add oil if necessary.

      You didn't drain your engine oil by mistake did you? Dripping oil can light symbol is you engine oil.

    Thank you for your reply. I took it to Auto zone earlier today. I have the VTM-4 light and the eng light on. They read the codes and said its a O2 sensor in “Bank 1.” He deleted the codes but they both came right back on. Im confused as why the yellow light says “VTM-4” , same as the type rear differential fluid required ? Thats why i changed the dif. oil but still have a light. Another oil change video said the sensor on the differential causes that light to be on. Any suggestions much appreciated.
    Any ideas what

      @fixinit  4 года назад +4

      4HisGlory07 Try to fix that 02 sensor issue first and see if that turns off the VTM-4 light. I had the same thing once. Both the CEL and VTM4 light were on. It was a sensor on the engine. Changed the sensor and cleared the codes. All good.
