@@Usbdh1291 people say that the les twins do not really do hip hop, because sometimes certain moves of theirs lack certain groove and lack certain flow. But I ain't denying that the twins are doing hip hop, but I'm just saying that their hip hop is another style, which may not recognised as real and actual hip hop.
@@Usbdh1291 I guess you can consider what the twins do is “new hip hop” or “all styles” they incorporate a lot of different styles into their dance like whacking, bboying, too rocking, popping, Juking, animations, etc. So yes they do hip hop, but they are not purist within the dance of hip hop like Alex. So yes they can out dance people but they can’t put hip hop dance everyone.
Laurent is more hiphop than larry. Larry is basically just animating and isolating most of the time.

I remember Otis saying something along the lines of Hiphop looking more like popping, especially with, animation, speed changes, muscle control, waves, glides, tuts. Larry looks closer to popping than Alex, Alex is the conventional Hiphop style, with groove and bounce, Larry more different, technical and unconventional.

My problem is, why tf do they keep letting the twins make it to semi finals and finals and then say they lost cuz they wasn't doing hip hop at hip hop event ?? Thats like me going to a krump battle and Memphis jookin the whole time, then make it to the finals just to be told I lost because I wasn't krumping. Like I shouldn't never been qualified in the first place 🤨🤨

Because they're just that good. Even if they're not "hip hop enought", they still top level dancer with a lots of talent when it come to pure dancing. They lost because they simply meet a wall against people like Alex or Icee that have godly foundation and understanding of hip hop and groove. Talent alone is just not enought at this level. They need to get their groove and flow back from 2008-2011 and go back to their roots if they want to win pure hiphop competition of this level. They gained immense control in their dance at the cost of the amplitude of what Hip Hop should be fundamentaly. Laurent got better over the years and started to get back buton the other hand Larry got even more "stiff" and stationary in his dancing.
You actually see a pattern when Battala give a tie or a win for the twins. The only moment he does that is when they stop being so stationary, let it go and start using space in their dance and the groove of the music
They can win up to a certain level of dancer, but if a true monster appear its ova. As simple as that.

This is my point about Les Twins. They move their bodies in a phenomenal way at times and have dexterity and speed and control over their movements but they are not true hip hop dancers in its fundamentals.

Like that Smoove dancing ish is so he can last I'm pretty sure that's part of his strategy like he could go harder if he wanted but he between having excellent balance with his much energy he uses be towards the end you can tell how bad he wanted it not that Larry didn't. But the last round said it all. But my man gave it his all. Respect

The HIP HOP part really is being ignored....everybody be looking fo flashy moves and beatkills and that doesnt seem to be doing it anymore....Odilon battled Junior...one of the guys from your previous videos and if you watch that you'd get a similar vibe from it
This was a cool battle to watch. It's interesting to see the contrast in their dance styles going up against each other. Alex took this match to me. If Larry added more flow, groove, vocabulary and bounce to his dancing... he would become so much better. It would be less predictable/less resets and wouldn't have to expend so much energy and risk doing these crazy moves over n over (just like Laurent) . Alex knew he didn't need to do too much because his opponent was already tired and would be overly reliant on the eye-candy moves.

hip hop or not Larry is the better dancer. His dancing is more compelling, more personality and more creative. Legendary. I never rewatch Alex and aI always rewatch Larry. Larry did gas out towards the end though.

If you really take a look at Alex the cage style he literally does the same thing most of the time yet people say les twins do the same shit the same signature shit. Watch Alex the cage battles and take a look. For me Laurent is the only one that really freestyles that dude really does some random shit.
I don't think the issue is variety more so does it fit? Is doing random shit make you a better dancer? Maybe? or is it more using the moves you have to better fit the rythem and style of the music played. Its hard to say maybe people have different opinions but to me freestyle does not only= randomness/variety , otherwise the person who knows the most amount moves = the best dancer in the world? I think you'd disagree right? Its about where the moves are applied the quality the feel so much more.

No right? I would say he’s the best at making people think his shit is not choreographed literally everything he does I’ve seen in other battles he performs the same routines.
@@young_fellow153 If that's what you truly believe you simply just haven't watched enough of him or are perhaps just not educated on hip hop more generally. Its easy to confuse hiphop foundation with choreography but its completely different , furthermore there are changes in speeds, variations, different isolation combos that are easy to miss compared to the much more accessible les twins style and are again heavily practiced but definitnely not choreographed. I think the professional (and french btw) freestyle judges would be able to tell.

In my opinion Larry clearly did better out of the 3 rounds , But I do understand why larry couldve lost this one , if we look it at an angle of "ItS NoT hIp HoP" then yeah alex clearly demonstrated a high hip hop IQ and deserves that win ,i feel like larry's style is not the "traditional" hip hop ,he usually does a lot of control based movements ,even looking animated and him going up against someone like alex who does all the 'groove, bounce etc " in a hip hop battle ,alex Is likely to win ,but imo larry danced better ,,,hip hop wise alex danced better

I think this is a example of the difference between a) the dance community and b) people who like dance or are brought to an appreciation of dance via social media, etc. I'm in the second camp, so I can see Alex doing some great dancing, but don't understand the fundamentals or where it's coming from. It's also less compelling or fun to watch. I think the sticking to certain styles in these events is also what limits their popularity, while Les Twins could smash the algorithms for a bunch of years by just being so damn unique (while pissing off purists by dancing to lyrics, which I get). Dancers like Alex will hit all those marks on the checklist, but Larry will make it fun as hell for everybody without that list.

My hope for Les Twins is that they will bring more actual hip hop to the game when that form of dance is called for specifically. This just continue to prove to me what I thought for years already. The twins can't win tournaments when the competition is stacked. The ones they've one are always against sub-par competitors or when you clearly see they going to meet eachother in the finals. There's a reason why they can never get past the first round at summerdance forever.

Serious question if I was a lite feet dancer and did just straight lite feet should I be able to enter a hiphop battle even though lite feet is a branch off of or apart hiphop dance?

Watch mr RUclips and crybaby lite feet interview on the moptop channel. Movements can be inspired however the style itself isn’t apart of hip hop that’s like saying popping is a branch of hip hop which a lot of people do think

Its a far cry from when they were starving, and after Larry said they got bood off the stage for the 2010 JD prelims, they were on a mission Look back at the twins vs yungson and tip and peep that version Larry imagine if he just added certain elements . The whole thing about them not being "real hip hop dancers" was/is realllllll in their community. They said in their first battle in Sarcelles they were set up, beat up and striped naked bc they weren't doing "hip hop".

If this is such a "hip -hop" battle and not all styles then why did Larry win the whole thing in 2019?? So you can't bring that up as a factor cause if this was truly based off "hip-hop" Larry would have never won the finals 2 years ago. The European audiences except UK kinda sucks in general to be honest when it comes to hardcore styles or street styles. The US , Asian, African audiences are way more fire and energetic and have the accurate vibe for these styles.
If Larry doesn't dance hip hop then please name the style? It is hip hop, Its just Evolution he created his own style within hip hop which is legendary and thats what everyone especially dancers as teachers say to their students... His style is a combination of dance styles and techniques while sticking to his choice of movement. Being animated, incorporating dime stops and crazy control, no groove or bounce, etc that ain't hip hop dog. That also doesn't mean he has to do the same things as if we're in the 90's. However, the foundations that the dance was built off of have to be incorporated at some point. If I call myself a popper and I do all this movement but I don't pop with it then it ain't popping just because I want to be different. Evolution as you put it then means do a lot of various styles and combine them into one and still call it "hip hop". I question where is the line at then for when something isn't hip hop anymore? Lite feet isn't hip hop. Krump isn't hip hop. Popping isn't hip hop. Larry can get down and everyone in here knows that. His choice of movement isn't how I would see it as "hip hop" even if you want to say it's just different at least for these rounds here and how I've seen him dance as of lately
@AmuaryDtbs The only thing ignorant is your knowledge on dance. You can be evolved but still maintain foundation, which larry doesn't have. His brother on the other hand maintains foundation because he still groove and flows within the music while showcasing his own style.

@@makesmartTROYces Skitzo would've made it to the semifinals too if he faced the people larry did and he ain't hip hop either. The thing is that larry have enough hip hop technique to win hip hop battles, but it depends on who he's facing and the song that is being played.
Majid did some moves of those styles but he was still doing hip hop majority of those rounds. Are you really about to sit there and say a dancer that is mostly doing isolations, dime stops, speed changes, and animation is hip hop? I wouldn't put them in any category.
@@rockjm-hh4mlevery competition theyve wanted to be in since 2011 as far as I know has accepted theyre style and welcomed them in the hip hop category. They were literally the hip hop judges of Juste Debout. Thats fact, not conjecture. Facts are hip hop dancers compete in hip hop events. And for a world-wide insanely large competition like Juste Debout they will only choose the most qualified in their category. U can have the opinion that they're not hip hop but its literally a fact that they are.

I agree Larry lost this battle because it is a hip hop battle specifically and his rounds were more all styles. With that bein said, larry implements such an unorthodox approach to dance even when he stays within his comfort zone. I personally relate to the uniqueness of movement especially in the first 2 rounds. Alex on the other hand is extremely Orthodox in a sense where he does exactly what he’s supposed to do given it’s a hip hop battle. His flow was immaculate and so was his build ups💯 last round Alex went crazy. It was a kill off especially since Larry was gassed🤷🏽♂️

For me Larry won. But, I admit Alex the Cage is a great dancer. I'm fed up with this "not hiphop enough". Okay, hiphop is mostly known for its bouncy and hyped moves. Alex had IT but I agree that he was somehow flat. Larry's style is still under hiphop but not the common style like I mentioned. Performance wise, I like Larry's round.
It depends on the judges I guess. They view their rounds differently and they just preferred Alex's last round. I was bitter at first but it shouldn't be an issue in the end.
Larry’s round lacked groove you can totally see a difference between larry now and 2014 larry who was a monster. Les twins style are not hip hop you can’t call their styles popping, locking, krump, Larry being animated, incorporating dime stops and crazy control, with no groove and bounce that’s not hip hop.
Yall get to caught up in how hip hop is "suppose" to look, Larry had everything Alex had, and more creative and stylish IMO.
