Nice review. I prefer zero-drop shoes when wearing any shoes at all ;) Anyways, good job making the video! 👍

I’ve got a strange problem. Perhaps someone can help. I’ve run 40 years, but the last decade I have been plagued by soleus problems. I’ve spent more on physical therapy, podiatrists and others than I care to recall. I tried my first pair of carbon fibre shoes a year ago, Brooks fuel cell, which cured the problem! But I was rewarded with two hamstring pulls - the first time in my life. So I need to try something new, again. I’m 56, run 22:00 for 5k and weigh 165. Any running shoe wizards out there want to recommend something that reduces strain on the soleus and hamstring. Clearly my gastrocs and quads will need to step up, but given my situation, a new shoe seems my only hope.

I can relate. Low drop shoes kill my calves, high drop shoes make my knees sore. I’m going to try an in between drop and see what happens. I’ve been to a couple of running shoe stores and they look at me like I’m crazy. So I guess we’re on our own. lol.

I'd rather save my knees and go for a zero drop shoe. It's a weak feature of our anatomy so it just makes more sense.

I always landed on my heels in general. When I tried a lower heel drop, I got a ankle pain so I went back to a high heel drop and feel better.

Would you recommend Brooks Adrenaline GTS 23 for someone with IT band issues ?

Yes or no. My half marathon time was 1:39:54.
If my quad and hip flexors “appear” to be the weak link over distance and effort… my drop 5 hokas are too much??
Any other ez run, tempo run, intervals I don’t see much of an issue. However I do see a change in my stride length and cadence

I'm now walking in 4mm for over 6 years, Free RN Distance. I love how barefoot it feels, now I'm buying a 10mm dropoff and I'm scared I will hate it, because I prefer to feel my feet, ankles and calfs working. I push off with my toes, always, as my main force in walking. After a 25km walk I feel burning in my feet, but not in knees or above. Is it bad for me to get back to 10mm?

its because this high drop is all bull shit. just get low or zero . ask yourself what drop does your natural foot use

@Yuna69able The so-called "natural" foot use isn't a constant. Low drop burns my calves and shins.
