For me it is like David Suchet is one person and Hercule Poirot is also a person and somehow when I see David Suchet speaking, I see David Suchet, but when I see David Suchet as Poirot, I see Hercule Poirot, a different person, a complete and completely different person. David Suchet has given real life to a character. And in the last episode where Poirot dies, it feels like Poirot really has lived in this world and then passed away. Amazing feat really! I cannot think of a similar case. I also don't think there is one. Truly amazing!

That's what he said in an interview I watched- his aim is to "disappear" into a role, so you wouldn't be watching _David Suchet_ all the time, but whoever the character might be. He described how he read all the Poirot stories, made notes and put together a dossier about Poirot and his mannerisms and habits; and then studied it. Fascinating. The gold standard on how an actor should approach a new role. 👍😊

"The Hollow" is one of my favorite Poirot mysteries. The blond actress is a Californian from Sacramento, btw.

I was born in 1983 and loved this show for as long as I can remember, so probably the day it aired. I still enjoy every episode I rewatch. If I ever implore any youth to try something back in my day, this will undoubtedly be one of the first things that come to mind.

The sets and costumes in that series were astounding, but truly nothing surpasses Mr. Suchet's performances.

I can't believe the Being Poirot documentary on your channel gives away the Murderer in 'Murder on the orient express' (comments disabled on that video) I was just about to start reading it. I know they're old books, but I've watched other documentaries, and they are careful not to give away too much. Just needed to express my annoyance 😅

Christie regretted adding Poirot to the novel so that when she wrote the play, she omitted Poirot.

Belgium isn't a real country, but a then British government creation response to the Napoleonic wars; a buffer state.
