When my grandma passed they cremated her and my grandpa kept her urn until he passed too. My uncles held a memorial for the pair of them in the spring. It was a Friday afternoon and my brother and I were the only grandkids who made it, and so it was us and tons of their neighbors. My uncle was doing the eulogy and I whispered to my brother "You're my boy blue, you're my boy." He broke up laughing which interrupted the eulogy and had a good 70 seniors glaring at him while I kept a straight face and pretended like I had nothing to do with it. 10/10 would do again.
In my land, people believe that when someone laughs at the funeral or a graveyard and suddenly have an inspiration for a joke, that actually means your love ones who passed away smiles at you and send you a good sign and energy from the afterlife. Your grandmom and grandad doesn't want you to be sad and send you love ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I went to a Kansas concert with my dad (It was at arrowfest in utah with Kansas and Lynyrd Skynyrd and he loves Lynyrd Skynyrd) and he shouted it out and you could hear everyone seated around us laugh until people farther away started to laugh for no reason (other the social pressure I suppose).
It’s absolutely sickening Ferrell didn’t win an Oscar for this line alone. When he repeats “you’re my boy” in that half-whisper…..you just won’t see that kind of raw emotion anywhere else on film i don’t think. This is acting at its finest. Perhaps only Stallone in Rocky 4 even approached this type of sheer emotion when he said “i guess what I’m trying to say is….that if I can change…and if you can change…everybody can change!!!” I’m sorry to make people even more emotional by bringing up that line especially after just watching Will Farrell here…..admittedly it’s just too much. 😢
This was actually a touching scene. We see the picture of the young version of Blue-as everyone else, before he got old, once he also was a young man, with the whole life ahead of him, full of joy, full of hopes, full of life
I think this is actually a very early taste of what we now have full-fledged in our society; an active subversion and ridicule of established values and gender roles. It's sad to see. I still think Old School is funny as hell, but I'm disappointed.
Mine is- "Wish you would step off from that ledge my firend..." I can nevr listen to that song without thinking of Jim Carrey trying to save a guy from commiting suicide! 😀
I wonder how many takes they needed to shoot this comedy perfection!! Hats down to all actors involved for keeping face straight. "That's what old people do-they die" cracks me up every time 😂😂😂. I love this movie ❤️❤️❤️
The fact that they took over an old man's funeral service after only knowing him for a few months is sneaky comedy gold. And sitting front row, which is usually reserved for family and close friends 😂😂
So much going on in this scene, always gets me. After processing Will Ferrell's literal + figurative tone-deaf rendition of "Dust in the Wind", Vince Vaughn's aptly + horribly timed note of caution that they'll be "putting the KY wrestling on hold," Luke Wilson's somber + gravely, stoic face that suggests he's both committed to, yet also deeply ashamed of, the people with whom he's chosen to form personal relationships, there's then the delight of a Kurt Cobain look-alike funeral attendee, the on-the-nose "blue" flowered wreath plus flowers, his deceased's cock-sured portrait as a young sailor, the late-arriving mystery man wrapped in trench coat (was Blue an informant?), Frank's guitarist plucked straight from a worship group of their local Young-Life chapter, the row of survived vets- surely from Blue's old squadron, a confused, dapperly dressed dog, random woman on cell-phone, all-counted 65 friends & family at a funeral for a man who joined a fraternity at age 90 then died lubricant-wrestling, with finally, "Beanie's" quiet-like-prayer reaction to Frank's terminally-climactic tenor while the dude behind him also misses the note, softly jamming to the Kansas cover like the top priority during such sorrow is to actionably show one's discerning tastes in music, lol. Circle back..."Please don't beat yourself up over this thing Mitch, it's not your fault. Damnit Blue was old. That's what old people do they die." (Realizes incredulous, elderly-lady sitting next to him) "I'm sorry." So good. All this funeral needed was a momentary truce so Dean Pritchard could attend. RIP Blue circa '03. You're not just my boy, you're all of ours.
That was an articulate, philosophical reaction. You seem like the kind of guy that could watch a weather report and begin a 5 minute monologue that is both unexpected and captivating.
Im gonna get a dog and name it blue just so when he dies i can play this video, this really bout to be a 12 year journey for a simple joke but it will be worth it just to scream you’re my boy blue and mean it cause obviously if i get the dog he will indeed be my boy.
The song was just playing on my Spotify and suddenly I yelled out You're my boy Blue! Scared the crap out of my kid. Then I had to show him why I did that 😂😂
So between this and Wedding Crashers the next year, we have two back to back Vince Vaughn comedies to feature a "Will Ferrell gets emotional at a funeral" scene that is LOL funny!
I gotta watch this every couple of years to make sure I still have a sense of humor.
Hahahaha
The fact that you sill come back every couple of years, your sense of humor will never go away.
That’s damn funny!!
I love you mand!
You're my boy Blue!
One doesn't listen to dust in the wind without shouting YOU'RE MY BOY BLUE!!!
That's for damn sure!!😂
It's what the song was always missing-a little LEVITY!🎤
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Big facts!!!
That’s what I currently did. Song just came on the radio 😂💙

Classic. I would have gotten the reference. 👍🏻
Probably one of the most raw emotional moments in film history
Makes me do a sex wee every time

krampusz best comment here!
Someone was high as fuck.
krampusz Same. I actually felt genuinely sad but was laughing my ass off at the same time. I don't think any movie has ever done that to me.
I think this is actually a very early taste of what we now have full-fledged in our society; an active subversion and ridicule of established values and gender roles. It's sad to see. I still think Old School is funny as hell, but I'm disappointed.
This is one of my dad's ALL TIME favorites! He always uses that quote "You're my boy Blue!" :)
“You’re my boy Blue! You’re my boy”… 🤣🤣 I love this movie lol
Blue had some of the best times of his life at the end of his life. That is the dream man. Blue ruled.
his voice is like a combination of Fergie and Jesus.
Drew Schorn I can’t even make eye contact with you bro 😂
do you wanna do karate?
You have won the Internet forever and ever amen
Best comment ever =)))

I love how the picture of young Blue makes it clear that he was always awesome. Seriously just look at his face for a second
I want Will Ferrell to sing this song at my funeral!
My soul would be pleased to have him sing at mine too.
You're my boy diana!!!!
@@Xaeart well played
Same.
Took the words outta my mouth
Just laid my dog named Blue to rest so I feel this scene. Your my boy blue! 😔

I remember seeing this in theaters, as soon as the camera showed will ferrell and he started to sing the whole theater lost it
Same. Pretty sure the whole crowd was lit that night.. it was magical, so many laughs.. this one mightve been the biggest
Rest in Peace Patrick Cranshaw aka Blue,
Sad that he died 2 years after the movie was made !

Oscar worthy clip... Blue your my boy...
This will forever be gold Oct.2019
"Looks like we better put the KY wrestling on hold for a while"...lmao
"We should put the KY wrestling on hold for a while" is lowkey the funniest line in this scene even though Ferrell crushed every second of it
Did Farrell write that line “you’re my boy blue…..you’re my boy”?!! I just can’t envision that coming from anyone else.
All things considered, Will Ferrell actually has a good voice.
One of my favourite actors of this era - love the black shirt on the dog lol
"Looks like were gonna put ky wrestling on hold for awhile .. " is a hilarious opening line for this scene 😂
At my brothers funeral, his friends sang this song to commemorate my brother and his silly ways :)
my dog is named blue and my dad used to always quote this, miss you dad

Will Ferrell top 5 actors for me. For sure this is the best quote in the whole movie. Great song and movie too.
The Oscar goes to Vince🏆The Grammy goes to Will🎙️
What a masterpiece! Will can also write amazing music! Truly legendary!
Dude I can't tell if ur joking or not , but u do know he didn't write that song right

The fact that my ex wife did not find Will Ferrell funny was a massive red flag for me
I've never felt more genuinely sad while laughing my ass off as I do watching this scene. That's the beauty of Old School.
The voice of an Angel
so that's where Hangover 3 came up with funeral singing idea...
i discover same thing yesterday !

Just buried My Boy Blue today. This scene brought a smile to my face. R.I.P. Blue.. aka man's and women's best friend.
