To think how pumped I was to get my 2700 (non-x) to 4000 in R20...now this?! Think its time for an upgrade
@@MurphysTactical its worth the upgrade. Gaming performance is improved dramatically. I came from a 2700 (non x) as well and gaming and productivity work has improved greatly, I have my 5800x paired with a 3070, my 2700 was a big bottleneck to my rtx 3070.
@@SirNickyT They'll make you pay taxes on most goods entering the country, but there shouldn't be any duties on PC components. Not sure how Timmy Joe got reamed that badly.

I love seeing him have fun, I will say its sad to see that CPU's nowadays can "auto OC", but we enthusiast's know that we can, and in most cases do, eek out that little more from the tank. I’m so happy with my 5800X! I didn’t even manually OC, I just enabled PBO and set enhancement level 1 and mine single-core boosts to 5050mhz and I regularly see 4800mhz in gaming. It’s a monster.

Nice job buddy! My x299 rampage, and 7920x 12c does 5ghz with auto voltage still, its been delidded and liquid metal, does like 6200ish on r20. So great job. That ipc is getting so far ahead of me again.
Those Arctic AIOs are so good. All these RGB, overpriced units on the market. Gimme the Arctic any day instead.
I have owned 3 kraken AIO from NZXT, I have their last one mounted now, they are overpriced crap, stick with Arctic :)
Arctic and fractal are the best imo. Just one wire and no rgb crap. I have the s28+ dynamic from fractal and it's amazing.

My 9900k got 2315 in r15. At 5.1ghz or 5.2ghz all core. It's pretty amazing to see AMD get higher score but with way lower clock speed.

My 5950x can do 2000mhz fclock and 4000mhz 15-16-16-36 ram with trident z royal kit. You can't push your fclock any higher? Are you using agesa 1100 patch c??

i did exactly the same, but my pc shuts down for overtemp. it passes 110 degrees very quickly. Could it be that my aio wasnt properly installed.? Its a aerocool mirage 360. Or is it completely normal. my temp in the room is 19 degrees. Will a good custom watercooler with a 360 and a 240 resolve the overheating shutdown?

Well that's encouraging! Still I think most of us are going to be under-volting to get better precision boost performance and to keep temps under control. From what I understand AMD is unlocking some of the precision boost parameters so you can actually tune a little closer to that razors edge. It would be great to see some results from that kind of test.

Yes, a 5800x video. I personally love the 5800x out of all the zen 3 cpus. People don't like it for the price but it costs what it costs, still doesn't take away that it's a beast of a all-rounder cpu.
Does this thing really have temperature problems like everybody claims? Doesn't seem like you're having any issues with temps.

honestly tho amd now is the way to go if u can get your hands on one and even when intel was still in the game the only cpu that was worth the money was the i5 10600k that could be overlocked to out perform there flagship 10900k. i dont know what intel is doing but i bet 11th gen is gonna flop hard and it serves them right for getting greedy and lazy

Intel is laughing the hardest now, because their 14nm chips sell like hotcakes now that the AMD's are dear and/or out of stock (paper launchisch). And Intel is still good at threads. I have a 3900X and it is just not fully loaded everywhere in benchmarks. There is too much going on in that chip that delays. With my previous Intel 6800K, it was always 100% in every benchmark or software I threw at it. Still looking out for a 5900X more than a 10900K.
When you recommend I use the overcloack of my 5800x, my CPU cooler is Scythe ninja 5? I live in a tropical country where most of the time the normal temperature is 30 ° C.
Any issues since? I and many others are experiencing random reboots with the 5950X, many on reddit are convinced its the cpu, have you heard anything on this? Also great video!
I just started overclocking with my pc outside this winter and it's awesome to see someone else overclocking there's with the frigid winter air lmao.
I have done it just with window open, just even a 10-15 degrees drop from normal ambient room temperature is already quite good to overclock.

Why the issue with 5 ghz my 5950x is hitting boosting 5 ghz above regularly straight out of the box on at least half the cores and 4.9 GHz on the others does it have to be 5ghz all core for one run to count can post hw if this doesn't make sense ?

I feel better now. A year ago I paid less for my Ryzen 9 3950X with 16 cores, and natively it gets a score on R20 between 8800 - 9100, all while running 4.4GHz on liquid cooling at 55°-60°C.
I won't be upgrading anytime soon, but it's nice to know my chip is not completely outpaced by the new Zen3 architecture.

The Stock CPU boosting to 4.7Ghz it's super cool, only 200Mhz less then a good manual OC.

Cool video my dude. Settled on 4.7ghz 1.3v with my SOC set to 1.2v. Along with my ram being 3600mhz cl16 with my fclk at 1800mhz. And with these settings I got 16220 in cinebench r23 and a 1950x got 16315 damn man this cpu is a beast

@@calvinprior7067 At least on my asus board it was on the advanced section of the bios on the main page at the bottom but I actually have a 12700kf now and have done for a little while so may be remembering incorrectly.

Love the channel you do stuff a little different and thats a good thing. I ordered a 5950x over a month ago special order and still won’t get it until February 1st. Then I special ordered a taichi 6800xt a week later and still haven’t got a shipping date. Im just scared about temps it seems ryzen 5000 runs a bit hotter than 3000. Im upgrading a 3900x with a kracken x72 cooler and it did fine on the 3900x hope its good on the 5950x. I can see why they didn’t come with a cooler this time.

Great video, I heard from Igor's Lab that, especially with the 5800x, the cooling is suboptimal due to the convex shape of the heatspreader. 85°C with a 360 rad at stock settings is just too much
his cpu must be bad. im doing 63 degrees on 4.8ghz with 360aio
I hit 90c max with the stock wraith spire on a stock cpu, 85 with a rad is not normal
What about rad placement when water cooling, does it affect the cooling or water in the pump?
thanks to the ryzen calculator app for the cpu my 3700x is oc to 4375 mhz at 1.25 volts. this was a great video hoping some time next fall i can upgrade to a 5800x!

Hey Timmy. Any chance you could do a video of PBO2 and cooking those spikes? I have a h115 with 5950x and temp were great but then enabled PBO2 and saw massive improvements in cinebench at the cost of higher temps. Throttling at 90c.

My 5900X is a frequency monster. It hits 5.2 Ghz on every core, but not at the same time, with a 240mm AIO in an ITX case. It runs at 4.8 all-core with a heavy sustained workload. I have PBO limits cranked and the curve optimizer tuned. The Infinity Fabric on mine sucks though...I think. When I first got the CPU I threw it on the motherboard I used to have a 3900XT on. The 3900XT FCLK ran at 1900 locked 1:1. The FCLK on the 5900X went to 2000Mhz and I was able to run my RAM at 4000Mhz no problem. Then after a BIOS update I couldn't get the FCLK past 1800 MHZ. A few BIOS updates down the road and I'm able to get it to 1866, but that's still slower than I was running it on this same board with my 3900XT.
i'm still rocking a 1st gen r7 1700. not gonna upgrade on am4, waiting for am5 and ddr5 to come out before upgrading
my 5800x has been wonderful.. managed to get it open box for 375.. max single core boost without touching anything has been 5 GHZ. 4.6 all core. temps are a wee bit high at 89 max. but im also in a mini ITX case thats damn near silent until pushed to the limit

I got 4.6 on my r5 3600 running on an air cooler at 80 to 90 degrees Celsius so I am getting a good water cooler like the one you used to keep it more stable and cool

so zen 3 can handle the voltage better than 2?
that's why I got the 5600x, because it runs SO cool, that with the stock ILLUMINUM heatsink and fan with PBO at +200 I never go above 72c with all core load.
And 2-4 cores boost all the time to around 4.8 - 4.9ghz.
You should test only with Cinebench R20...
on R15 I put my 3400G (Zen+ not Zen2) at 4.1Ghz all cores and R15 works, but R20 crashes...
Same CPU, I get to 4.95GHz on Time Spy using air cooling NH-D15 Chromax Black. Air conditioned room set to 24 degrees Celsius, really happy with it.
