    Welcome to Bowlers Paradise!
The all new Infinity from Brunswick is a pretty unique release across all their seven brands. Besides Track, it’s pretty rare to see these slightly asymmetrical pieces, which is a total bummer because this is my favorite type of ball. The infinity comes out of the box at a 2000 grit on the AXH hybrid cover which was featured on the zenith hybrid, and powered inside by the infinity core with it’s 2.52 RG, .051 Differential and only .10 intermediate diff.
With any ball that has these kind of core numbers, I always go with my trusted 4.5x5x4 2LS layout. This is one I have seen a ton of success with on probably a dozen pieces at this point as it balances the core and cover strength in the way the ball was intended too, and gives me optimal performance as the manufacturer designed it to have.
AND ON THE LANES… I was actually surprised with how strong the infinity was right out of the gate. Even though it is a 2000 grit, it didn’t feel like much surface in my hands, so I was thinking it would be cleaner and snappier downlane. But even though the shape wasn’t what I expected, I still enjoyed it quite a bit. It’s rare that I match up with balls that are really cover dominant which this infinity definitely is, but I was able to manipulate this piece pretty well with my hand positions and get it to do most of what I wanted across the lane until I got inside of 4th arrow.
The thing about the infinity I liked the most was how it let me play in the part of the lane that I am most comfortable and just did the right thing. I wasn’t forced to do anything crazy with my hand or angles, it was just clean enough to clear the fronts, but blended the mids out well and for the most part, continued through pins well. When I played right of that, I could roll it and it still got to the pocket. When I played left of that spot, the carry was iffy, but I could see it being better with more friction available.
But that’s also a potential downside. The infinity does feel like kind of a 1 trick pony to me, and if that look isn’t there, I would likely change balls than try to make something work in a different part of the lane. Its really just a trade off. Everything you get in terms of high quality performance in one part of the lane, you give up in other parts. If you’re willing to carry 8 balls to a tournament, that’s really helpful. If you’re bringing three, and need some versatility, I’m not sure this is the one to bring with.
However, If you were to pair this piece with one of the new HK22 symmetrical pieces like the track stealth or radioactive vibe as well as a weak sym like a GB2, I think you’d have a chance to match up on just about anything. The infinity would certainly be the strongest of the three, but being able to match up with that and have the other two as insurance would make a great bag to your thursday night league.
But with that, here’s my recommendations on types of bowlers that I think would match up well with this piece. The first is balanced bowlers. I think of Dom Barrett when I see this ball go down the lane, so if your rev rate and ball speed match up well, you’re probably going to like this ball. The second is speed dominant bowlers. Balls that are cover dominant tend to play well with that type of game, and the infinity core will give bowlers who stay on the outside part of the lane a different, smoother look than other big asyms.

Don Barrett was using one of these on the finals, and it looked awful. Not sure why he stuck with it.

Because sometimes manufacturer bonuses for throwing new balls are worth more than winning.
