    These paternosters all have very similar fixtures, handles and overall design of the cabins. Makes me wonder if they were all built by the same company. Actually, I guess they were indeed all built by the same company as they are not a very common product. I like the sculpture on the technical university building. It was inspired by the circuit symbol of a transistor. Makes sense, because the building seems to belong to the faculty of electrical engineering.

    I´ve been in Prague in march this year and have seen most of the paternosters that you have filmed. I didn´t know of the two in the university buildings. On the other side I´ve been in another one that isn´t shown here, it´s in Vodickova 18, not far away from U Novaku in number 28 (shown here at 11:08). And there´s one in the YMCA building, Na Poříčí 1041/12, unfortunately I have missed that one.

    • @fredashay

      Yeah, I think you're right.
      It looks like there's some kind of switch attached to that grille that prolly stops the paternoster if it is lifted.
      I see that the floor is hinged on the car, too. I bet that has a switch, too, if it is lifted up.

    Wish there where still Paternosters in the netherlands. Sadly never came across one, as fas I’m aware there is only one still working. A lot of them where shut down unfortunatly. Around 2003 one was wrecked by a builder who was transporting some building materials and something got stuck wrecking it and it got taken out of service. A few years ago and 80 year old who was not very mobile got fatally injured when stepping on top of the cab during a reunion visit of an old post office building. It got taken out of service. Now I think there maybe only one left. They are an endagered species in a world where people expect 100% safety. The once common innerdoorless lifts are also becoming quite rare to find here. Oddly enough the very big Hoog Catherijne shopping centre in Utrecht (one of the most epic but also security zealos places) still has one usable by the public😇. By they way Hoog Catherijne has a lot of secret service area’s but there are camera’s everywhere.

    • @Pidalin
      @Pidalin 3 года назад +1

      It's safe when all safety things work properly, there are sensors which stop it when you let your arm or leg out of cabin. But it's 80 years old, so without proper maintanance and testing, it can be dangerous.

    • @benolifts
      @benolifts  Год назад +1

      They are not as dangerous as people thing. The only place where you can be crushed is going beyond the top floor, as there is the only place with a hard wall that comes right next to the cab. Everywhere else on the paternoster has flaps to stop people getting crushed, including the floors and the floors of the cabs. So unless there was something very heavy placed on the flaps, the only place on the entire paternoster where there is a crushing risk is the top floor, which should have sensors to prevent this.
