I like how you made that link with Romanian and Latin - we worked with a ton of Romanians and a lot of them could speak pretty decent Spanish 👀 And they always mentioned that they grew up watching tellanovelas too 😅 I don't know how telenovelas ended up in Romania, but it's pretty cool how knowing one latin based language helps you understand other latin based languages ☺☺

@@WITYTRAVELSI don’t love telenovelas but in the 90s especially there was a lot of those on TV, it was known as “housewife tv”. Also many Romanians worked in Spain and Italy so they speak these languages pretty well. On top of it they’re all romance languages so there are a lot of similarities. I haven’t studied either of them in school but I’m decent at Italian and Spanish without living there or watching telenovelas.

Very happy you enjoyed your stay in my home city of Bucharest :)
Growing up, traveling abroad was a privilege for the rich. There was a time when just to leave the country you needed to obtain a visa, get an invitation from someone living in the country of destination and you needed to have 300 EUROS on your person, as proof that you're not going there to beg or squat. (300 euros was more than the minimum salary at the time).
I am very happy that Romania is becoming more and more of a tourist destination and there's people from all over the world discovering our little quirky country in Eastern Europe.

Actually at the south of the Charpatian mountains down to the Danube you will not find castles only ruins of fortresses because the Otomans when they granted the right to rules to Mihai the brave one of the conditions was that he destroys all the fortresses… which the idiot obeyed… I am not a fan of Mihai the Brave 😂😅
So in Bucharest close to stravopoles church you will find in the old city the ruins of the citadel that used to be the residence of the rulers and in Targoviste like about 60 kg to the north is the former capital which still has standing one tower
So yes no castles in this area

if you really want to try veggie sarmale, you only have to wait for about a month. Christmas is coming, and it's traditional to fast before it, so chances are pretty high you'll get a taste of romanian vegan food. It's nothing special though, don't get your hopes up - lots of beans, mushrooms and preserved vegetables. For example, the sarmale would be made with onion (or leek), mushroom, rice and tomato paste

So, they made polymer bills, that are way more resistent. The first polymer one was the 2000 lei bill, that was released by the Romanian National Bank on the ocasion of the sun eclipse from 2000. Actually, the bill had the eclipse drawn on it and it was very colourfull. Back then, when you got a 2000 lei bill, you could consider yourself very lucky.
