So no one's gonna mention how they're using the ORIGINAL sound recordings for the FD from Initial D's First Stage? I couldn't believe it when I heard it in the anime, its such a cool touch to that scene, reusing the original soundfiles for the RX7 instead of going out and recording a new RX7 that wouldn't sound like the original FD that has become so recognisable over the years.
I'm not entirely sure how you can tell that its the same sounds as the original. It literally could just be new FD recordings. It would sound the same.
IDK man.. as much as i like the FD... give me the FC any day... they basically stole Porsche's homework, but did it better (at least on the looks front)

My nephew does good with need for speed hot pursuit 2010 with the advantage that the games handling mechanics are similar to arcade style and has nitrous. If i had to race him in Need for speed hot pursuit 2 from 2002 i would without a doubt kick his ass because it didn't have hand holding mechanics. You actually had to learn some skill to unlock everything.

Having takumi to race might be a tad bit impossible.. since if I remember in the manga, its implied that takumi had a bad rallying accident.. and thus only teaching kanata to race..
Do keep in mind we do see Keisuke drive in the manga to show Sena what's up, so we're probably gonna get some Initial D song remaster once the anime catches up to it

i never read MF ghost, but now when the anime is out i probably should experience it in some light... and this video just made me smile so damn hard, its amazing to hear no one sleeps in tokyo when you see one of your old boys dash down the mountain
It's been out for months now. As others have said though, temper your expectations. It's overall kinda bad. The a lot of the animation is taken directly from the manga which normally would be fine but it shows how lazy Shigeno has become since almost all of the background shots of real places are straight up pictures. It's super noticeable.
Personally I don't like MF ghost much. It's not about street racing anymore, it's too much like circuit racing. Dont get me wrong, IRL I've done track days and circuits are more fun than fucking around on streets. But as far as the anime goes, the street racing aspect gave Initial D an element of danger and rebelliousness which we won't get in MF Ghost

I believe No One Sleeps in Tokyo is great for Keisuke, since it played when he first opened his eyes seeing Takumi Inertia drift, coming full circle, Beat of The Rising Sun is definitely for Ryosuke and Heartbeat is one of the three most prominent songs for Takumi, after Save Me and Remember Me
I remember dying of laughter for the last scene because im sure there's people out there who never seen intial D and doesn't know who and what that car is in reality.
If the main show had this music over the actual scene it would have made it the perfect sequel show. You have to hold the old guard in respect. I've never even watched the actual Initial D anime aside from clips and knowing of the culture surrounding it. All you need for a show/film/game that is coming in as a sequel to something famous is to treat that famous thing with the respect and nostalgia it deserves for even allowing the new version to have any legs to stand on. Looking at you Star Wars... Japanese car cartoon already has you trumped.

Sadly takumi was injuried in a WRC Test session for Gazoo Racing so ryosuke used the next best thing....and obviously kesukie was just faster in general

I like the direction they took as far as racing in this anime but honestly seeing an everyday sports car like an 86 race exotic sports cars not even native to Japan feels very out of place and kind of ruins the tuner aspect of what initial D was. Its like when the NFS franchise ditched tuning cars and went the hot pursuit and rivals route, just high end performance cars that are bought fast but not built.
I don't think initial D was ever about Japanese cars, it was about driving first place and it was common sense that they were using cars from Japan because it was illegal racing, no one would really feel the need to import a car from Europe or America just to drive on mountain pass. Since MF Ghost is about professional racing, it makes a lot of sense that everyone uses the top cars in the world, that's what makes it feel "real".
Also in reality a poor GR86 would not be able to even pose a threat against a Ferrari or Porche or other european manufacturers , not in this life, however you look at it, considering we are talking about professional drivers.
If we put the fact that Inital D was loosely based on the DK himself that made Drifting and the AE86 famous in his younger days Initial D was more of DKs early days as a Street racer While MF Ghost (while no longer based on the man himself) is more like his days as a professional racer. IF we keep the fact that initial d existed thanks to DK.
Pop up headlights are cool but I understand why he didn't fix it. Even if he had the money to do it (which he obviously does), the more normal headlights is much better price wise.
