Igloo showed 2 things about the Federation that were assaulting A Baou Qu: 1. They're much more skilled now that they can outperform a high performance MS like the Gelgoog. (Evem if the pilots were freshed off training academy.) 2. They're so goddamn pissed that they will commit warcrimes and perform the most painful ways to kill a zeon MS all while laughing at their demise which understandable considering they're fignting against the faction that nearly took over their home while commtting genocide

@dereenaldoambun9158 put simply, because Zeon didn't think to make such a system. They had a relatively large and well trained military that was based around mobile suits. The Federation needed to catch up on the number of pilots while speeding up the process. The show explains the black box system, so maybe watch it before thinking you have a gotcha moment.
You don't even see the pilots of the Gelgoogs but you can tell from their voices these guys and young and possibly just kids, Zeon at the end of the war are scraping the barrel amidst the cracks their once great space empire that was starting to falter, Degwin tried to put a stop to it but his son had other plans, literally vaporizing any chance to put a stop to the conflict early and without blood.
It's a real shame that the pilots were mostly students and not trained Veterans. I would have loved to see the Gelgoog in a veteran pilot's hands. Imagine Norris packard from 08th MS Team using a Gelgoog instead of an older Gouf Custom.
I guess its also nice to see the Zeon actually have inexperienced pilots for once. Usually we see nothing but Ace's mowing down 1000s of feddies before dying.
That's one of the major flaws to Zeon. By the time something like the Gelgoog got into production lines, all of the major aces were dead, killed by either political idiocy or letting their head get too big.
Unfortunately things never go as planned due to incompetent leadership. Often wasting valuable manpower or denying resources to capable soldiers. Not to mention the federation ms pilots were quickly catching up in skill and the ones who displayed good skill were getting powerful units to push it even further.
0083 Rebellion (manga version of Stardust Memory) confirms they join Axis and the main engineering trio created the Neue Ziel. The Zuddah's end up in the hands of Cima's troops.
Gelgoog - An MS on par with the Gundam. Seen here - A squad of them getting their shit pushed in by GMs. GM - A severely toned down version of the Gundam that's essentially fodder. Just shows what a difference skilled pilots make.
The GM is actually good, though, it easily surpasses the Zaku II, and it's on par with the Gundam in a lot of ways. It actually has a better sensor range and has marginally better acceleration.
@@Robocopnik In addition, at closer ranges, the beam spray gun GMs use actually punch harder than the Gundam's rifle (something to do with the focusing coil)... so getting hit by that thing at a close enough range will count (ie in that clip, one of the Gelgoogs felt that shot)

Considering that Zeon was able to roll out a base MS unit that was almost as capable as the RX-78 within less than a year, is nothing shirt of extraordinary to be honest. Sure, the remaining pilot base wasn't there, but considering that IRL it takes almost a decade of testing before a production rollout of a fighter/tank/ship, it should give most viewers pause.
I just realized, these aren't technically speaking the mass production type A types. These all are Type B Gelgoogs, the High Mobility Gelgoog that got the extra boost from its backpack.
8 to 9 years later during ZZ two Gelgoog able to fight Gundam Team and slaughter a more advance Mobile Suit from Neo Zeon all by themselves, prove that Veteran Pilot make a MS work like charm
Despite the Gelgoog being my favorite OYW Zeon grunt suit, I am a big Federation Fan when it comes to UC Gundam. Did my fanboy heart good seeing the high end Gelgoog getting jobbed by weaker speck GM units when it's sadly usually the other way around.
it was really too bad Zeon didnt have enough veteran or properly trained pilots to wield these machines. Most of the pilots in these Gelgoogs didnt have actual combat experience before being pushed to the front. The Gelgoogs would have stood a better chance. Oh and the GM Sniper II Custom is my absolute favorite GM :) GMs have a certain charm on them that I wanna see more variants! Even those with relatively minor aesthetic changes (i,e GM and GM C or GM D) grab my attention haha
Did they use lunar titanium for the hull armor? If so how come they didn't do as well as the white base crew? They practically won battles with just the gundam alone.
A lot of these are High Mobility models and they don't have their shields anymore. Kinda confusing as thst'a possibly the best physical shield on the franchise.
I think Zeon was running low on supplies by this point and gave Gelgoogs with no shields to the students. Or maybe the shield was optional and some pilots didn't want it?
@@TheKing-qz9wd - I have to point out that the Rick Dom doesn't have a shield either. So maybe some of these students were training on the Rick Dom before getting put in the latest Gelgoog? Perhaps they were trained to fight without a shield, and favored mobility and keeping their hands free in-case they want to quickly use their beam saber?
@@TheBigExclusive In a situation like a long range open fire fight in space that would only make sense if the pilot percieved they had plot armor. But then again, yes, if they were trained for Rick Doms and are going by their intuition, they would definitely not be used to the odd inertia that can be caused by the shield's weight and want the extra thrusters to match the total count to Rick Dom.
Grunts in Gundam tend to not have shields or keep them at a weird inefficient angle for no good reason. 0080 has the same problem with GMs, although at least here the choreography is better and the Gelgoogs actually try to dodge the enemy shots.
@Hussein the supporter of KARA BOĞA the Dom actually outclassed the GMs on the ground, it was much faster, but the GMs had more thrust in space over the Rick Dom, the GM cold districts was made in response to the Dom and had more thrust to keep up with them.
'Too little, too late' is the best phase I can come up to summarize this tragic MS.

One of the main reasons they could pilot their mobile suits so well is that their GMs had Amuro's flight data from the RX-78-2.

Believe it or not, they turn up alive and well in 0083 Rebellion working with Gato’s Zeon Remnants. Still using their Zudahs, strangely.

The GM's acceleration was actually hirer than the Gelgoog. With equally skilled pilots they're a close match.

By that time, only Gundam, RX-79 and the ground type GM are using lunar titanium. That explains why zeon MS can get one shot by Gundam's beam rifle.

ゲルググのパイロットの多くは学徒兵。それにビームライフルの配備も終戦の数日前だったからだと思います。
統合整備計画が適用される以前のコックピット仕様なので操縦系統がそれ以前の機体とは異なっていてベテラン兵は自分に配備されても乗るのを嫌がって新兵に押し付けて自分は慣れた機体に乗り続けたりしたそうです。
そもそもゾロアットは採用から既に4年以上も経過している主力機であり立場的にはザク、比較するなら後継機のシャッコー
ゲームやればわかる。
図体がデカすぎて被弾率クソ高いのよ。

HGUC Zakuとドームと共に展示した時も独歩的なたっぷりがある。 盾がないというのが惜しい点だが、やはり連邦の立場から見た時、豚コラはニックネームが付くほど特色ある素敵なやつだ。

この学徒兵が搭乗してるゲルググも可哀想だよね、右も左わからない状態だからせめて新型のゲルググに搭乗させて少しでも生き長らえさせるジオン側だけど連邦側からしたらゲルググは新型でガンダムを越える量産機で挑むなら一対多数で挑めと事前に連邦軍は命令されてたから余計学徒兵が可哀想だな;
性能差とかは関係ないよ。ジムにはガンダムと同じ装甲の盾と一撃必殺のビーム兵器があるんだし、数も揃ってるからわざわざタイマンなんてせずに集団で火力を集中させた方が効率いいってのは必然的に思いつく戦法だと思う。

簡易B型というらしく、一応書類上ではA型扱いで、本来の高機動型に比べてパーツも少なく、推力もA型準拠

リアルの戦争でも巡航ミサイルで完全制圧出来ないから陸軍が直接上陸する訳で、初見殺しみたいに開戦直後の一手にしか使えないね…(´ω`)
