My 8 year old is still in a 5pt... she can use the 5pt until she's 50 lbs and she'll be in it until then :)

Really really wanted one because I like those ones that they buckle by yourself and some other people moms and dads don’t half to do it for them and so then the mom and dad don’t want to get up and seatbelt them I like those ones because they have two seatbelts

It is the same in Australia in some places I am a tall kid so I was allowed to sit in the front of the car I was also out of a booster seat but in my mum’s car I had a three point harness because her car was a big car

You can actually have "H" straps fitted into your car. This will take the place of a booster/car seat. You can keep your older kids safer, without the bulk.

My little one is turning 8 in one. Hes autistic and a wiggler
We got a special seat through insurance so even when he outgrows the my fit at 65 pounds or 54 inches he can be harnessed in. The new seat goes to 62 inches or 115 pounds. By the time he outgrows that he would likely 5 step. If he still isnt ready we would look into further options.

The law where i live says children must use a child car seat until they’re 12 years old or 135 centimetres tall, whichever comes first.

My thing is, don’t those seats that Alyssa is in stop for the harness height limit at only 49”. Most kids outgrow that around age 5-6. I’m surprised she hasn’t
It’s height now
It's never really by age, it's by sitting height from hips to shoulders. Legs don't count. And every car seat brand does their designs different from each other, so in for example: a 9yr old who is 18" from hips to shoulders will still fit just fine with the 5pt harness in Diono and Britax, but has outgrown Evenflo and Safety1st car seats. Another child who is 7yrs-4months might still be too wiggly and free-spirited inside of a Moving Fatal Weapon (car), so they still benefit greatly from the snug fit of a 5pt harness without any slack so they're stuck in 1 Safe Spot. Not all kids outgrow car seats at the same times. Different brands with different harness heights and adjustments, some with taller headrests to get more longevity out of the car seat, others that are just a basic shell with 2 or 3 harness slots but as soon as kids scalp is even with the top of the shell they've outgrown it (no adjustable headrest means shorter usability of car seat), and different car seats from different or same manufacturers with Same maximum harness height, but varying inches of width from hip to hip, padding and comfort, and changes in placement of crotch buckle and chest clip.

My mom had one rule when I was a child, that I must sit in a car seat until I was 14 years old. But in my day in the 90s there over head shield car seats. But even this day I keep all my eight boys in five points until they are 14 year of age. My wife loves your channel..
Sometimes it’s safer to ride without a car seat if they are taller than about 5’0ft. Cause the seatbelt will be cutting their necks.

Racecars are not like real cars they fall apart to absorb impact therefore keeping the driver in the seat at high speeds of 190mph All accidents are different and the seats really in most cases do not play a huge role. My generation we had no seat like this and know of no kids being killed or hurt badly if wearing a seat belt. The longer you go you will keep the kid in it till he is 14 95% of crashes are front end so a regular seal will suffice!!!

But I live in Wales and I’m 8 and I don’t even have a booster seat and I use a normal seat but I’m a medium size not a big one
Different rules in different countries around the world. And different parents, some Care a lot about safety and spend a lot of money to make sure their kids are as a safe as possible. Other parents do little as possible. Other parents care enough to keep their kids in booster seats until they get too tall according to the labels on the booster seats.
Find your last booster seat. Look at the stickers or label on the bottom or backside of it. Look at the highest weight and height. If you're under those numbers and still have room to grow, put the booster back in the car next time you have a chance. It will help a lot so the seatbelt doesn't rub over your belly or over your neck. The booster helps Boost the kid to the proper height for the seatbelt.

Why do nine year olds Sits and car seats
Because it's the parents choice as to how safe they want their kids to be in a car. And seatbelts in cars are meant to fit fully grown adults, not still-growing children. Car seats and booster seats are the proper seat belt system for still-growing children.
The Video was 6yrs ago. Alyssa and David aren't in car seats anymore, the twins are in boosters, Michael is either 5pt harnessed or in a booster, now 5yr old Owen is 5pt harnessed, and the new baby Chloe is 5pt harness and rear facing.

omg thats sad that at 9 you still had her in a car seat. we had our boys out of the car seats and we didnt even use a booster when they were like 7 and 5 and my kids are fine and are now 16 and 18. and wow a girl and a boy sharing a room. yeah hell to the no even my boys never share a room.
