My father was heartbroken when he found out his sister (my Tia), passed away back in Feb this yr. Then he finds out about Vin Scully's passing and he was devastated. I sat next to him, gave him a hug, and I told him "Look on the bright side dad, Tia is now hanging out with Tommy Lasorda and Vin Scully." R.I.P to a TRUE ICON! R.I.P Vin Scully! You will be missed! 😥
I recently lost my dad & brother to covid last year. That destroyed me completely and im still trying 2 pick up the broken pieces. Vin was that voice that didn't just called dodger games and many other iconic sport moments but he was a voice that while listening to dodger games that assured you, everything will be ok. We will be ok. It's a blessing to have had vin for 67 years. This amazing run will never be duplicated. Even if you were angry, sad, depressed, etc... Listening to a dodger game with Vin on the mic made everything all better 🙏🏾❤ R.I.P Vinny We will miss you dearly sir.
It's literally like a death in the family! To Bob's point at the end. There is a video clip of Vin telling the history of beards. He starts the story with 2 outs in the inning and no one one. The whole story lasts 5 minutes... which is exactly how long it takes for the inning to end because people keep getting on base!
It angers me when internet trolls depreciate Bob Costas. There are certain people in the world who are bothered by intelligent people such as Costas. We are definitely living in an ever increasing dumbed down society.
Vin was my favorite since I was ten years old in Brooklyn. He was amazing and was the Dodgers voice. We loved that he was a lip reader and would tell what was being said during screaming matches between umpire vs manager. “Fertilizer!” Instead of “B_____it!”. When the Dodgers retreated to the left coast, the only times I saw Vin afterward was when he did World Series games and I enjoyed his work. Especially when my newer favorites, the Mets, played in 1986 series. He was a gem.
Brooklyn will always have the boys of summer to claim as their own, but for those of us who grew up in the 60’s, 70’s & 80’s in Los Angeles Vin will forever be our voice of summer.
Vin Scully and Bob Costas are arguably the two greatest baseball announcers in baseball history. I don’t care who’s playing in the World Series. If they’re doing the game? I’m watching the entire game!!
I never thought that I would say anything positive about an Oil company... But, thank you Union 76 for bringing Vin to me in Phoenix Arizona. My Grandfather came out from Sicily, by way of Brooklyn. He saw Jackie play at Ebbits. I was born with Dodger Blue in my veins. Rest in Peace like the GOAT you are 💙
I agree that Vin was great with the big moments, but he was even better with the average game. Vin gave you a reason to listen to an August game with the Dodgers seven games out of first. You still would listen to him every night.
@@MrHubadub: No. I had a brother in law, drugs and a worthless individual. Could not stand him, either. But once every 4 or 5 years he did a nice/good thing. See? It’s very simple. I’m willing to give a compliment where one is deserved…
Part of his legacy was that he didn't want to share the booth. Another is dissing Kap & basically telling those silently protesting to shut up & play. And he talked about Drysdale and Koufax waaay more than Jackie Robinson.
Never forget what elitist, Costas has said about one of this Nation's greatest Presidents and _more disturbingly_ how he has described those that hold the figure in such regard.

❤️⚾👏👍😁
Blessed to have Mr. Scully in my ears for 50+ years growing up in LA area. R.I.P.
I just knew Bobby Costas would have the perfect words.
Thanks, Bob and MLB Network. His Memorial Service will be something to behold as the entire Baseball Community will pay their respects.

April 2024. Born and raised in LA. I love the Dodgers. I miss Vin so much. Very kind words by Bob.

When Vin told a story even the game took a seat to hear it
Vin Scully is in a league of his own but if anyone today could take the baton it’s Bob Costas. He’s under appreciated if you ask me.

One of the most recognizable and iconic voices in broadcasting history
Heros are remembered but legends never die
Oh Yeah..he was like The Babe, Wilt, Beatles, Elvis...you get it once but never ever again.
Brooklyn will always have the boys of summer to claim as their own, but for those of us who grew up in the 60’s, 70’s & 80’s in Los Angeles Vin will forever be our voice of summer.
True!!! It was so cheap, so easy on the spur of the moment to just drive to the stadium, buy a ticket and watch a game back then.
So true
Let’s win it for Vinie!!!!!!
Go Dodgers!!!!!!
RIP to a legend.

I learned that vin was the best and bob is a geek for broadcasting
Rest in peace The great Vin Scully
In the Pantheon of Baseball, on a scale from 1 to 10, Vin Scully went to 11.
Costas, the trained performer, trying his best to illustrate a master.
Thanks Bob
RIP to s legend

My greatest memory, "swung on and missed - a perfect game!"
Nobody ever lined/grounded into an inning ending double play while Vin was in the middle of a story. Classic line right there by Costas.😂
Thanks Vin....
I'm crying just found out. 😭
I can’t stand Bob Costas, but this is a nice tribute to the greatest ever. Godspeed MR. Vin Scully. RIP.
Why can't You stand him?
@@jameskennedy552 because he puts his foot in his mouth
@@jameskennedy552: He has become a “woke” know it all broadcaster. He stepped out of his lane. But his tribute to MR Vin Scully was extremely nice.

Another iconic figure lost.

but why would you guys start this video with sf clinching the nl wc in 2016. hundreds of other things could've been chosen.

we wont forget and we love him more for it. Cry more
RIP TO THE SECOND BEST ANNOUNCER EVER NEXT TO MEL ALLEN BOTH GREAT
Allen had nothing on Scully.
Shocked costas didn’t attribute his death to guns
So distasteful to say something like that about during this time.
Not shocked some moron came to say something so absurd.
