the HOA guidelines are fine for a close community and the homes there because they protect your investment in the property. the fees are not to bad if the HOA uses the money for upkeep and social projects. when i lived in the suburbs 25 years ago my neighbors on one side had a bunch of painted rocks in their yard. like peace love and drugs style and across the street about 8 men moved in with their work trucks taking up most of the street and parking in their yard. before the neighbors moved in the place was worth 230k but i was only able to get 198k for it because the neighborhood had taken a turn.
