SRK is correct when he says he is last of the stars...the stardom that he has...no body even comes close to him. You can check the videos of his birthday where people gather in thousands to catch a glimpse of him outside his home & this is every year. He is not an actor for us Indians but an emotion! None of the videos could justify how big superstar he is!

The 2 negative / villanous roles that established SRK as a Star are Baazigar and Darr. Both came out around 1993 & both are really good thrillers. And then in 1995, DDLJ came out & established him as one of the greatest Superstars of Indian Cinema (and the King of Romance).
'circus' was the name of a tv show (the narrator calls them tv serials) he was in. srk did tv shows before getting into film. that transition was really unheard of, it's still not common. so the fact that he was able to go from tv actor to the level of fame he did as an actor in films is wild. the fact that he did it all without family connections in bollywood is also wild. he lost a lot at a young age, he was an absolute underdog. without knowing this, people loved him, but knowing this people genuinely grow to love him even more. he's an inspiration for many aspirational youth who are from less fortunate backgrounds. what a dream journey he's had.

Most bollywood movies are a mix of everything but one genre is more strong. So yes...srk has done action before and also yes Pathaan is not his first action movie BUT when he was younger he was more well known for romance. The other movies may have action but romance was always a bigger part of those....where as Pathaan even if there was a love interest, it was more about the action. Even today....no actor, none of the newcomers or younger actors can do Romance like SRK. He isnt my most fav actor but he is up there because I grew up watching him & when I think bollywood romance I think of SRK.
I'm not an Indian, and there was a time when I wondered why people go crazy over SRK? 😅 (now I know !!! 😌)

I dont think he is “the perfect actor”, and he doesnt claim to be one either. But no one can deny that he is one of the best.
And ofc he is probably one of the most intelligent public personages I have ever seen. This guy is one sharp cookie. 😂 (If you have never seen his interviews - please do. He is phenomenally witty and spontaneous. )
He knows how to make fun of himself and enjoys a joke on himself as much as (maybe even better than) most people. He is a family man and he is devoted to his wife and children. ♥️
And most of all, he is the image that has changed the definition of stardom, as he became a star from being part of the crowd. In an industry which runs on nepotism, the world saw a common man carving a niche for himself and solely on his merits. He knows how to bridge bonds with people. I think his smart way of using the media has worked wonders for him. There are rarely reports of his misdemeanor or behaving rudely with the media personnel. He is a bit arrogant but never to his fans or media. He loves them all and makes them feel important every time he gets a chance to do it. His personality is all so charming and amazing that it attracts individuals from all classes, there is no artificiality attached to his persona. If you hear anyone talks about him, they always say how nice and kind he is as a person.
So yeah his stardom is not just about his movies. And SRK was/is the face of Bollywood.

The best thing about this edit is that it shows interviews from back when stars actually had a personality outside of their scandals. Call him arrogant but he had no political correctness yet managed to charm billions. That only comes with honesty and a pure heart.

One thing to note. SRK is very sarcastic and self deprecating. Some people thought he was very arrogant but he was just always sarcastic while being self deprecating. He's very humble and very very welcoming.

srk is confident, witty and very humble. there is a reason leading ladies time and time again have said their favourite costar on set from their whole career is srk - a man who naturally makes women and everyone around him comfortable. it is widely known that he treats everyone on set with dignity and respect. his louder and more aggrogant statements come from the amount of unnecessary criticism he gets; he gets criticized whether he talks or stays quiet. and he also is genuinely serious when he says he is the last of the stars. the type of stardom of his generation is not possible in bollywood present day because the mystery and intrigue is no longer there. everything is out there for everyone to see on social media. (not to mention, the charisma of anyone in present day bollywood is also just no where close to what he had. he didn't say it so i will.) he also elevated bollywood at a time when india was going through massive changes developmentally. he is an actor who came into the pop cultural sphere almost as a perfect bridge between india post-liberalization and current day india. encompassing traditional values but forward thinking. he's an actor but worked a lot on his production houses too. people can say a lot about srk, but they can't say he didn't leave a mark. they can't say his eyes didn't showcase emotion. they can't say he didn't try. he's iconic not just in india, but in pakistan, in indonesia, nigeria - he's loved all over!
edit: would actually love for you to check out his 1997 interview on the show 'the way we were' (partially alongside his wife) - i don't think it's possible that srk will ever have such an in depth interview again ever. he's sheltered his personal life more in recent years.
edit 2: consider watching 'dil toh pagal hai' or 'main hoon na' for a bit of classic bollywood romance and action comedy, respectively. watch 'swades' or 'dil se' for something a bit more understated and serious. for period pieces, consider 'asoka' which he also produced, or 'devdas' which is a famous tragedy and worth a watch for the cinematography, set design and costuming alone (the acting in it is also a bit more theatrical).

i barely watch movies, but i hve seen sme of his movies,he is good but for me thats not the best part, i hve watched ALL, ALLL OF HIS INTERVIEWS, he is one genius man, his wisdom,his philosophy, each n everything about this man is just so inspirational. you guys might have no idea but that last statement was such a powerful statement because truely after shahrukh's generation we dont really hve THE STAR in the industry anymore .there are good actors ,better actors but the stardom that srk's generation enjoyed is no more may be because of the generational shift in the audience or due to the rise of ott and internet accessibility.hence, as he said SHAHRUKH IS THE LAST OF THE STARS.

I really recommend My Next Guest with David Letterman interview first for your next SRK's interview. Open up more sides of SRK that can be understood by an international viewer like me; of course the fact that SRK and David conversed in English, it helped us understand easier. The topics are not too much into SRK's Bollywood filmography but you will learn a lot of him on a personal level.
Then after you've watched a couple more of SRK's films, come watch AIB interview because this interview is pure pure gold, insightful and more authentic of SRK. He is way funnier and raw in native interview like this, but it'd be helpful if you have seen a few more of his films to understand better. Hopefully you will get around to these interviews - SRK is very witty and personally very very intriguing and charismatic as a person.

Did anyone consider that the break in releasing the new movies was caused by the pandemic? All SRK's movies are worth watching. When I saw behind the scenes regarding 'Zero' my mind was blown :O. Even 'Fan', my husband did not like it, but I think it was interesting, and the CGI is really good. My favourite villain role- 'Don' :D

In 2010 he was in Berlin for the "Berlin Film Festival". I (who live in Germany) wanted to buy a ticket on the internet. I was there at 10 am when the sale started and after one minute all the tickets were sold out. I didn't get one even though I tried very hard.

Tom cruise might the biggest Hollywood actor in the world and Tom cruise gets paid green times more than SRK when you convert the money ratio but SRK IS STILL BIGGER then what Tom cruise could ever be.
