Baalo Paat - ಬಾಳೊ ಪಾಟ್
Traditional Kodava folk song usually starts with the words ‘Baalo Baalo’ and is hence colloquially called ‘Baalo Paat’. Baalo is a common blessing which means Live Long and paat means song. Most Kodava songs are traditionally sung by four men beating small drums called dudis. Each line has about 7 to 8 syllables and the song is sung in a simple tune of four or five notes to a slow beat. These songs are generally sung during temple festivals at villages.
