I hope you all enjoy this video of one of mine and Barb's favorite paddles in the Adirondacks. This can be a day paddle or makes for a nice overnight trip. If you have any questions I'd be happy to answer them. Happy Paddling.
I can't think of a better way to spend a day than canoeing down a beautiful river with amazing scenery and sharing that time with the wife. That's about as good as it gets.
It is the perfect day trip loop. Such diverse waterways. The stretch of Fish Creek between Floodwood and Little Square Pond is my favorite. Thanks for watching Dan.
I’m deployed overseas and can’t wait to return home to the ADKs, to the water, to the woods, to my kayak and carrying a different type of backpack… Thank you for the gorgeous video.
Thank you very much. My respect for our service men and woman is through the roof.... so it makes me super happy to be able to give you a piece of home. Thanks you for your service. I am heading to the ADKs in a few hours and will be filming several new videos.
I have made this trip several times, but have never camped there. I always go on my paddleboard, but in 2024, I will buy a canoe so I can stay there for a couple of nights. Thanks for sharing this great video.
Thank you. It's such a great area...the waterways so diverse. Perhaps you watched this video already but Barb and I spent 3 nights on Floodwood: ruclips.net/video/6j8IHi2JhG0/видео.html
Hey Jim. Thanks for watching. I've had a few people mention the same thing about getting in and out of the boat. This was one of my early videos and I didn't think of showing that. And now understand it is something people want to see. So I make sure to show it in my videos now. Here's one in particular that shows me getting in and out several times. ruclips.net/video/lYanXKuuyXI/видео.html Happy Holidays and Happy New Year
What a fantastic video, well done to the both of you. My family is blessed to have a cabin in that area putting that route right in our backyard. Thanks for your call to support local.
Thanks for the nice comment Jason. You are one lucky guy to live so close to such an amazing canoe area.. We live about 3 hours from here but make the trip without batting an eye.
Greetings Igor. We used to kayak but much prefer the light weight pack canoes you see in our videos. For us the main reasons are they are so light they are easier to carry from pond to pond. The seats are super comfortable... and I like having my legs exposed to the sun and air and having the ability to dangle my feet over the edge and into the water. This web page pretty much details the reasons why to choose a pack canoe over a Kayak: placidboatworks.com/why-a-pack-canoe/
Nice video. We will be there in Sept on C loop. While watching your video I noticed the area just north of the boat launch where there's been down trees that have been a little work to squeeze through. In your video it looks like someone cut away the tree and opened it up? We have a new Crescent Crew 2 person kayak that's a big boy. We were concerned whether we would be able to get through it in the bigger kayak. If someone did open it up that's awesome.
You'll be able to get through. The DEC goes through from time to time and opens up blocked waterways. We actually got out of our boats and removed some more branches at that spot too. The water is shallow there so no worries. Enjoy your trip in September.... the best time to be there imo.
@@CanoeCampClimb Yea we go every Sept for the fall foliage and lots of hiking. We are tenters though. It can get cold at night. We are trying C loop for the first time to try and get less wind off the lake. .
@@MrTbo69 we tent sometimes too. We actually camped at Fish Creek on opening weekend this year in our tent. Still some snow on the ground and the ice on the water. Did you see our video of that trip? Here it is: ruclips.net/video/LeGCsXnnJX8/видео.html
Hey Kevin. That is a fabric portage yoke that Joe sell's at Placid Boatworks. It is super lightweight and comes with a small bag that attaches to the thwart behind the seat. It simply uses a velcro system to attach. Barb generally uses it on any carries over a 1/4 mile. I have one and don't use it much.... only because I prefer to just throw the boat on my shoulder. But it is a nice product for anyone with neck or shoulder issues.
Thanks for the feedback. I often get people telling me they love the silent videos... but then others say they like it when I/we talk more. I think in 2023 we will have a better mix of silent videos and videos with dialogue. We have several ambitious adventures planned that will definitely require us to talk more to explain the route and challenges we face. Thanks again for the helpful comment.
As a general rule of thumb black fly season is from Mother's Day to Father's Day. Then it is the mosquitoes and horse flies from father's day to about mid August. After that it is glorious. That being said.... the sites at this campground generally have a nice breeze coming off the pond and help keep the bugs manageable. Black flies in particular are very hit or miss.
I hear you. We used to have 65lb kayaks we’d take on this trip. What a workout. These lightweight canoes weigh between 22 and 25 lbs making the trip a lot easier for us

Very scenic and looked relaxing. Was the water cold?
@@robertbraun6827 the surface waters are pretty warm.... Flood wood and Rollins get a lot colder the deeper you go.

I have to agree Nicholas. I'm thankful Barb enjoys canoeing as much as I do. Thanks for the nice comment.
Paddled this water 100’s of times , absolutely one our favorites, excellent job capturing the experience 💪
Thank you Gunther. It is a super fun route. A little bit of everything.
❤
I've done that trip dozens of times through the years and it never gets old, always beautiful.

Wow thanks for posting I noticed no shots of getting in or out of canoe

That beaver dam made things difficult for my son and I last May. Been down through there many times without a problem before that.
Same here Charlie. We usually just paddle on through. Its a favorite stretch of ours
Thank you for creating and sharing this!

My wife and I did the Rollins Pond Loop this summer, in our tandem Wenonah Fisherman. Fantastic. You guys inspired us. Keep it going!
thats awesome Rob. Comments like this really make all the effort worth it.
Videos look great, well edited, gorgeous country
Thanks Dave. I appreciate it. We love the Adirondacks.
I'll add this to the to-paddle list. Great video guys- thank you.

So calming
Glad you liked it Mike. I really enjoy making the peaceful type videos.
I made this video this Spring. It's the one I watch when I need to de-stress.

Might you be able to say when BUG season at it worst at this campground (mosquitos, deer flies and/or black flies)? Many Thanks!

Thank you. Pretty much the same in NH, VT, and ME.
We usually just launch from Rollins because of all the gear we have makes it too difficult to portage.

The carries are pretty much wheel friendly.
How’s the fishing?
Hey Chance. The area is great for fishing. Brookies and bass.
