We are all suffering together, Graeme. Just got off the phone with my cousin, who is spending the Summer at the family cabin on the south end of Coeur d' Alene lake, in Idaho. She has 102 degrees there, and her husband just had a truck break down when he was returning a rented excavator to Coeur d' Alene. I am down in the desert north of Palm Springs, Ca., and we have been dealing with 105-plus every day for several weeks. I have a 30 year-old quarterhorse here, who seems to be doing okay, but I have been hosing him down every night before his dinner. My Vet cancelled our dental visit Tuesday, because they don't do well being sedated in this heat. She says we will wait for it to get below 100 - good luck with that anytime soon... I have been watching another horse channel, Homestead Horsemanship, out of southern Missouri, and they have a nice deep river on their property, and are giving all their horses a turn having a nice swim! I am envious - what I wouldn't give to go get into some cool, deep water. You need to load up the boys and girls one at a time and go over to Golden Ears park and do some river splashing too!
It seems to me that bringing out carrots or not, all of horses want you the carrots are just the bonus. You are so loved by these magnificent creatures. Thank you.
Good luck on your surgery. I guess someone else will be helping take care of the horses? Your horse family will miss you terribly. We have been having `100 + degree temps for 3 to 4 weeks with more to come.. Watching you with your horses is a great escape. Will look forward to your feeling better & back with your horse family. That was so funny watching Lena nose to nose with Luke, hoping he would drop a piece of the last carrot for her 😂 Boy, is Mocha being a big girl protecting Luke now 😂 You live so close, but being near to the ocean we haven’t gone over 28C one day and now and for the next week they predict 25C. I had a tooth pulled a few months ago, and I set my phone to go off every 8 hours to take my meds, and iced my cheek the first day consistently. That is the best way to go…….trust me! Sending healing vibes to you after the appointment!!
Here in the UK we still have temperatures about five degrees below where they should be, a lot of rain and very windy. It's more like Autumn really! Hopefully better to come at the end of July. Hope all goes well with the dental work and have a speedy recovery, won't be long before you're back out there with your beautiful horses

You need one of those hats that you can move the ears back and forward, so they know you want them to get out of your way. That would be an interesting experiment!

Yeah it's hot here in Sacramento CA 109 degrees today and 112 tomorrow, and it continues.... Even though I am not a morning person, have come to the conclusion that early morning is the only time to get out or do my out door chores. Have a fantastic rest of the week.

Hot here in Massachusetts, too. Our central air is not working, and it's been in the 90's. So far, repair estimates range from 7400.00 to 9400.00 🙄. Since we just sunk $8000.00 into my jeep, we're trying to come up with a solution. Just a quick note...please understand that I'm not criticizing, just sharing my own experiences so that you can have it in the back of your head. Please supervise your babies when feeding them whole carrots, apples, etc. I've seen/had horses that have choked on whole veggies. After the episodes my horses went through, I just cut everything up before I treated them. Just trying to help, not interfere. I had one of my wisdom teeth removed recently. Done the same way any tooth was removed as it wasn't impacted or anytning. Good luck and sending good and positive thoughts for an easy extraction and a quick recovery! ❤❤

Took me about a week to recover from all 4 being extracted, but that was 1974. Had a lot of bruising. Hopefully by this time they've come up with better methods of extraction. Anyway, good luck and be ready for a few days of liquid diet. (Not wine. Ha!)
I also had all 4 removed at once - impacted. Took awhile before I could eat more than pureed food with a baby spoon. Pain meds and ice packs very welcome! I wish Graeme the best. ❤❤
Absolutely love your horses! When I got surgery to remove my wisdom teeth (that were still in my gums) the next day I was on pain meds but eating good sandwich hahaha.
I have no idea where horse flies come from but they’re nasty buggers for sure. Has David moved? Lastly, good luck at the dentist’s. Impressed that you’ve managed to hang onto those wisdom teeth for so long. Thank you again for another great video!
Hello Graeme, I have always had the impression that the horses are yours. Now correct me if I am wrong. It's hot in Europe too, tropical night in Romania, it's over 29C at 9AM. I also had the impression that where you're living it's cold weather even in summer. I would also like to ask you about something that occurred to me recently. Horses' manes being braided/woven by weasels in the stables overnight. Have you ever encountered something similar? Or at least heard of this? Yes I read there was a heat wave on the Western part of North America.. Very very hot indeed. Here we are having a dreadful summer cold and wait almost every day with the Olympics starting in a couple of weeks, a real nightmare for Paris citizens.
