hahah Matti calling me out for rigging my 48" softbox light directly onto my wheeled portable RUclips setup that I use in every video lollll IT WORKS JUST FINE OK MATTI!!
After seeing this video I tried something very similar but with the lights, I was able to get a 35 inch soft box off to the side. I had to change to a C-stand though, otherwise it was too tipsy. Usually I set up a little differently and prefer to shoot my videos around 120mm to get the ultimate compression! Here is a link to the video I made if anybody is interested ruclips.net/user/shortsF-PDARH1Epg
I have been following you online for 3 years now and i feel really grateful for your contribution to the youtube space and to my life personally! I appreciate you brother!
I have been trying to create a portable set up and this video definitely helped me a lot! Never thought to use the arm for the tripod for the articulating arm. Thanks for the tip!
I have an articulating arm for my mic on my desk, makes it so easy to adjust. You need some wheels on that tripod! If it's stupid, but works, it isn't stupid.
Agreed having the light separate from the camera/audio rig! It’s not practical for big softboxes & positioning the light. Unless you want some flat AF lighting
I can't remember the creator who said that, maybe Caleb from DSLR videoshooter, but this one stuck with me: If it can go on wheels, it should on wheels. Instead of a tripod, try a beefy lightstand with wheels, then with the manfrotto supperclamp, you can add arms left and right all over the lightstand for a ballhead/tripod head, monitor, phone. And with the top of the lightstand, can easily boom a mic!
Is this "Show My Camera Setup" Month? This is now the third video I have seen like this in the past few weeks. Or maybe there is something in the RUclips water? 📷🌊
Phone clamp on the tripod is so simple but awesome. I just can’t read it that far away 😂 maybe I should try an iPad clamp or see if there is a tripod shelf extension I can put my laptop on..
I don't usually comment on many vid's but I am slowly cooling to your channel. From the evolution of Travel Feel's to your library of how to's I have loved watching. Lately the uploads seem more of "we need a video to hawk another sponsor". Seems like I am just watching commercial television. I will hang in there with you but just wanted to share.
I still enjoy his videos but there's a certain feeling that new ideas are not running as high as before. That's why Matti suggested 2023 might be his last year on RUclips at least in its current form.
It's tough to produce original content when you have been in the game as long as Matti. What I do love is how genuine he is, he has solid values and has never tried to financially rip off his subscribers... Which a lot of big RUclipsrs are guilty of!
@@ollie.kirwan Being a honest down to earth guy is a great asset for Matti no doubt, I still watch almost all his videos (I have no interest in Apple stuff) but the truth is that he has 1.2 million subs and most of the time he struggles to pull 100k or even 50k views on a video. This one for instance was watched by less than 5% of his subscribers, which is a ridiculously low number. Some of the recent videos really made it seem he had a sponsorship deal to fulfil so he had to build a video around it. Even though I think he still likes doing RUclips, he might have started being drawn to other creative activities and as a preemptive measure he already suggested this might be his last year on the platform. It's totally fine if it comes to that, we cannot just assume creators will be with us forever, they are people just like us with personal goals and aspirations.
I really like this setup! The only thing I’m wondering, why not use an autocue thing? They are pretty cheap if you use the iPhone or iPad for projection and then you never need to look to the side to read your bullet points.
Ok, but where did you get that coat? I've seen it in several videos and I need it, can't find one like that. That or your lightning makes it look much better than most.
Very nice... that module looks very handy, definitely you nee put some wheels on that... BTW, what do you advise, like a prop external screen or a good app on an old iPhone 8 or some?
My favorite focal length was the 24, definitely. Camera aside, my big question is how much did the individual pieces of this rig cost to get before frankensteining them together?
It's ALL about what works. I think it's great! And I personally have always liked the 35 - though - I use a 24 in my office bc it's soooo small. And lighting tips would be awesome - it always seems to be my downfall.
Havent finished watching, but you should put the tripod on wheels, or mount it all to a rolling steel stand. Way quicker and easier to move around and do fine adjustment.
Your lack of zip ties, gaffer's tape and velcro straps is bothering me... Just kidding, pretty ingenious setup. My eyes would need and iPad where you have an phone for the scripting though...
The drop in and go setup is really handy. I bought a cheap sit to stand desk on wheels and attached a desk mounted camera rig with four arms on it. (it's like litterally a vlogging rig think it was like 90$ on amazon) Lets me mount a mic, a laptop, a small ring light (which I've replaced with a second camera for table top shots), and a primary camera.
If it looks stupid, but it works, it's not stupid. Everyone who works in this have made extremely ugly setups with what they have, and make them do the job done.
What was your fav focal length? Anything you would add to the rig???? or take away LOL
35mm. It feels crisp, but with room to breathe.
I actually use that PD tripod for my built out Ronin 4d 😂
Sandbag???
24
24, that's why I went straight with 24mm F1.4 from Sony
Definitely not a dumb setup. I'm also using a friction arm to send my microphone out in outer space! 😅
It’s the best haha
The energy with Isaac is sooooooo fun, please give us more
You have proved your skillset... you can rig however you want and take it wherever you want!
I like this way of thinking 😊

Thank you Matti !
Always great seeing pro studio stuff. And that is is a great idea.
Caleb Pike, DSLR Shooter. There, I’ve said it. Go look at his *moveable* studio setups.
This was pretty awesome to see. I need to try that dual camera mic mount setup vs the 2 tripods I run now
Yes, i like the light set up because I am on the road to setting up a small studio. Nice vid!
I have been following you online for 3 years now and i feel really grateful for your contribution to the youtube space and to my life personally! I appreciate you brother!
It doesn't look stupid imo. It looks like its made to do a thing and its doing that thing. It looks like a tool that works. I like it!
Yay I’m not a complete idiot
Isaac might leave when you keep saying thick boy! 🤣🤣🤣 Never say it again! 🤣🤣😭😭😭 9:32 Savage Creator! 🤣🤣🤣
Would love to see how the lighting set up looks/works!
A phone clamp next to the camera is big brain. I gotta do that for my talking head shots so I don't have to keep looking down at my phone.
Omg when you switched to the shotgun at the end… even on my trash phone speakers!
Haha makes a difference right lol
Love this setup. I might do something like this for my home office set up. Thank you Matti ❤️🔥
I have been trying to create a portable set up and this video definitely helped me a lot! Never thought to use the arm for the tripod for the articulating arm. Thanks for the tip!
Very cool and inspiring to see your setup. It works beautifully. Great look achieved: ✔️
Always love more Isaak in the videos 🙌🏻🤓
Thanks for sharing. There is tremendous amount of hand movement sheesh.
Great video, thank you so much for this, Matti!
🙌🏻
The microphone arm is hilariously genius 🤣 and I’m going to rig mine up like this literally right now
Fun vid Matti!
Great video! Thanks for sharing 🙌🙌🙌
🙏🏻 😊
Super effective set up. Love ya man!
Like I said stupid but it works lol
@@mattih you gotta own it man 💯💪🏼
this is genius! I really enjoyed that 24mm!

You’re right 😊
The handle hack is genius!
Agreed having the light separate from the camera/audio rig! It’s not practical for big softboxes & positioning the light. Unless you want some flat AF lighting
Yea just not worth it. Doesn’t need to be on there.

Not dumb just wildly functional!
I roll with 24mm for my talking head too, I feel it works best. The rig looks great, at least it's got character!
lol, you're such a joker Telegram Matti!
"Stupid is as stupid does, sergeant!"; Forrest, Forrest Gump. ;-)
Get it together Isaac!!!!
Seriously

Ahah 1st time laughing in a setup video, ty Matti! YOU GENIUS
Loving Isaacs vibe😂
I love that you were like if you want to know will watch a video
"solo film maker" has somone filming him the whole time lol i love matti

Def inspired to make one myself... good stuff
Awesome video thanks for sharing!
Stupid but works, awesome!
tripod arm is the genius move!
For a long time I was wondering how did you create that huge magic arm ! Great engineering !

Thanks for this Matti, gonna put some advice in practice + I'll add a teleprompter I just received to pimp my version of your rig 🤣
Cool!✌️
Nice setup
Hey Matti, have you tried the new “el zone” false color for exposing on the 502? Such a game changer, I really really love it.
I haven’t! Now I just take a look
@@mattih coolio! If you are like me and still love the trusty old exposure values, this is the tool for you. Makes correct exposure so easy.
My favorite focal length was the 24, definitely. Camera aside, my big question is how much did the individual pieces of this rig cost to get before frankensteining them together?
Yea it’s hard to price now cause almost everything I bought around 6 years ago. But I bet you could do it for around $1000 fairly easily.

35 is a lovely focal length but I feel you! It can get a little tight in a small space! What do you need help with when it comes to lighting? 😊
Nice shotgun mic, but I have to ask, what not just use a decent lab mic?
I like your stupid idea men 😂😂
Kaleb from DSLR is a genius to have so many people copying him
Matti does Artlist have monthly plans I only see yearly Thanks
Yep monthly and yearly 🙌🏻
@@mattih Thank you Matti going to look into a monthly plan. Hey man your setup is not stupid at all kind of cool
👌👌👌
you have solved the problems i face. Now i need to find a silly looking arm for sound.
it doesn't matter how stupid it looks, as long is working well for you...happy days!!
@MattiHaapoja01 really....
Havent finished watching, but you should put the tripod on wheels, or mount it all to a rolling steel stand. Way quicker and easier to move around and do fine adjustment.
complete setup
Your lack of zip ties, gaffer's tape and velcro straps is bothering me... Just kidding, pretty ingenious setup. My eyes would need and iPad where you have an phone for the scripting though...
❤
We all know that feeling of building something that works really well lol
Have you tried triad Orbit stands?
nice👍👍
Stupid or genius! Love the rig Matti!!
Is that the iPhone 14 Pro or Pro Max? 📱
I don't know man, I think you are under selling your rig. It's a well versatile rig you got there
lowkey Black Satin is smth i knew i needed but didn't know it was called Black satin.
Definitely sponsored by Bubbly lolll
Could you put in the links for it please?
Nice stupid rig, I like it. 👍
Instead of wheels use those furniture moving disks. To slide it easily
The drop in and go setup is really handy. I bought a cheap sit to stand desk on wheels and attached a desk mounted camera rig with four arms on it. Its been a couple weeks. About time Matti has another "I'm quitting youtube" video.
Matti, giving me serious Jean Reno vibes from the movie “Leon:The Professional”. If you haven’t seen it, check it out.
Haha is that good or bad???
@@mattih All good.
The articulating arm is called a ”magic arm” 😊 Industry standard.
I too put a little piece of gaff tape over the front "Sony" badge on the XLR handle.... what's your logic?
@MattiHaapoja01 "Who Da Fuq R U?"
Den är sjukt grotesk, men har en funktion som duger. 😎
I’d buy that mic setup lol
This is like the opposite of dslrvideoshooter’s clean setups.
If it works, then it's not stupid
Learning editing from India 🇮🇳
Where can I get this rig?
I liked 24mm the best.
thumbnail looks like jack harlows album
"havent spent too much money on that" dude the tripod is $1000 haha any other budget beefier tripod recommendations?
Lol you haven’t seen the “real” tripods then
@@mattih hahaha only from afar
It's only stupid if it doesn't work. As for the wheels GOOGLE: rolling platform for tripod.
