  • The Division 2 announced plans for year 6 of the game at Ubisoft Forward last week and it is safe to say it was met with some very mixed reactions when it came to seasons 2.0. This called for the next episode of our Safehouse Podcast. In this episode we sit down and break down each of the updates they announced and share our opinions on them. WIth seasons 2.0 being a very hot topic just remember that everyone is entitled to their opinion as you are with yours. Please don't attack anyone in the comments because they share a different opinion to you.

    My understanding of seasonal characters is that
    1. Start at level 1
    2. Only seasonal character Accesses seasonal content
    3. Seasonal xp gained is added to your main character after the end of that season
    If that is the case does seasonal character have a separate stash space from your main character and if so how do you use seasonal items acquired on your main character.

    I'm a returning Division 2 player. I left shortly after WONY and completing the second raid. The new seasonal characters are actually what has me the most excited. I always found I ran out of stuff to do on my main character. Having the flexibility to have low-level PvP again is also super cool.

    There wasn't enough information given to the community due to them being shoved in at the very end of the post show during the event. I also think that for some players time isn't going to be on their side. If they have a limited amount of time to play then essentially they're going to have to make a decision on whether to play the seasonal content to get the rewards or play with their main character. Again I don't know because we didn't get hardly any info on how this is going to work. I think it would go a long way for them to set up a live stream to further explain things but they won't because that's been the trend with them for a good while now.

    I get what you're saying but of right now people can play anyway they want. I have 2k+ hours and have not made a striker build. I find it boring. So "they" decide that the season will be striker build "fun". So now I've spent money on something I either have wasted on, have to force myself to play, or miss out on the new content. "Forcing" everyone to have "fun", the same way isn't really for the best because you are pushing people away.
    At any point anyone could have restart a new character to make it "fresh". No one I have ever talk to or heard of have or would make a new character every 4 months just to make it new and fresh.

    • @GCROCK
      @GCROCK  4 месяца назад

      The whole specific builds per season was just an idea of what they could do. I doubt this would be the case to be honest but I personaly like that Idea because I like challenging myself with other ways of playing. Pretty sure nothing like this would be done.
      I think we just need to see how the seasonal characters will work. I think for the most part of the season we will still be doing whatever it is we choose to do now on our mains.
      Seasonal characters will have weekly activities to do but beyond that it seems it will be just a tailored experience each season for the seasonal activities alone. This is what will keep it fresh.
      I look forward to seeing their next communication because then we will know for sure how they will work.

      @GCROCK Yeah, I was using that as an example. I didn't mean it literally. Someone thought that the college missions (forgot the name) was worth doing, and not really anyone plays it. What if that is the season?
      I'm still playing and still going to give the season character a try. Just don't have high hopes for it.

    So my 2c here. Right now the biggest problem isn't really Season 2.0 it is the lack of communication and clarification from Ubisoft/Massive. They are allowing players to have their own vision of what is going to be Season 2.0 and not clarifying what it will be for Division 2. There should have been a large blog post breaking down exactly what Seasons 2.0 would have been to inform the community on what it is going to be so everyone right now is right on what it is going to be for Ubisoft isn't telling us what it will be. As far as what I think Seasons 2.0 is going to be is a fresh character that has zero access to anything we spent countless hours earning and when the season is over everything that was earned on the seasonal character is moved to the non-seasonal aspect. In some ways I am thinking it will be like a new variation of Descent where you have a character that is in some kind of bubble so anything they alter or change during the season won't break the non-seasonal game and you will just earn what dropped during the season.

    What about div one all we’ve on that game got to level 30 survival underground and more. Div 2 came out but our character from div 1 we couldn’t carry on to div 2

    My first comment was deleted so I’m trying it again and I’m going to condense it
    - people are tired of grind as content
    - the seasonal characters are coming out at a time with many other games coming
    - since players know this is filler some are just going to wait til the dlc comes
    - seasonal character games hallmarks are adding in new areas, missions and classes and gear for said classes, but we know we are not getting anymore specialization and since the rework for them were put on indefinite hold what do you have forward to look to? It still leave the problem players are still play the same content
    - the issue of stash space, a lot of players are either close to completing filling the space or have none left and adding a character is not going to help and the players know we are not getting any more stash space per words of Yannick.
    - Modifiers issues, we have directives ( I.e fragile armor being broken since directives were added and etc) to enemies still being stuck in walls and doors, time trials bugging out missions, a reason that why some people just play the game on lower, and the way the devs try to force players to play a certain way never works cause players will always find a way to circumvent things and play the way they want.

      Yeah me too, hopefully we get much better customization. But they also mentioned showing off your efforts better. I know they added a patches option to the crafting station so potentially that is linked.

    Same Maps, Same Missions, Same Routes, Same Enemies. After 5 Years? Grind,Grind,Grind....do it all again. I love The Division, but the repetition is tough to take.

    My only gripe is why lock the story behind the seasonal character what’s the point of that give the player the choice that’s it the game is 5 years old if they haven’t gotten enough new players by now why make everyone play the the way they want makes no sense I’m sorry

    • @GCROCK
      @GCROCK  4 месяца назад +1

      I do get this concern. I think it will be more like Descent in that respect, where you have to play descent for a big part of the story delivered in comms.
      I think the main story progression will be in the DLC which we will be doing with our mains.
      Hopefully they do it more this way as it only makes sense to keep your main character involved with the main story.

    As a solo player that's hasn't been able to play a raid (I have played count down) and being forced to play with a random group doesn't sound like "fun".

    Sorry I missed this live. The biggest argument I have noticed is that people don’t want to change how we play the game. People want more content. I’m with everyone on this topic. We want to use our characters we have put so many hours into for all content. It just feels like Ubisoft is saying they are going to give us something good, but only if we are willing to give them something in return (doing what they want us to do with creating brand new characters for seasonal content while those of us whom have been here and supported the game from the beginning through all of its shortcomings). It feels like a big middle finger to the community that has grinded regurgitated content over and over and over. We aren’t a casual community. We are a very invested community. What is happening right now feels more about what Ubisoft wants opposed to what us as players and consumers want. I don’t think that Ubisoft understands that we became the division when they abandon it and now they are finally doing something and it feels more like betrayal to so many of us that has been starving for things we have been asking for for years now. More stash, more content, different areas to explore, new enemies, more stories, all with the characters we have invested hundreds and thousands of hours into. It is by no stretch unreasonable for the community to be in an uproar of this. So, if you are frustrated about all of this, you are right. If you are willing to give the new change a chance, you are also right. But Ubisoft, ask us what we want. You arent playing the game. We are. I think the big question here is, when is it about what we as the division community wants? When is it about the changes we want opposed to what Ubisoft wants for us? Sorry for the long post. This is all from what I’ve seen from the community since Ubisoft forward and my own personal thoughts on the topic as well. Hope everyone is having a great day. See you in the field agents.

    They are doing the Season Characters because our present characters are too powerful for that content so it makes it challenging and if the bring something new n that is OP or Broken they can fix it without it effecting the other part of the game

    Yall CCs keep saying “there is a lack of information”. Massive came out and stated that all future story/manhunts/content will require a seasonal character to play. We don’t want THAT, period. For me pretty much everything else is gucci. Opening up the end game is awesome, having weekly activities is awesome, new gear is awesome. I want to do all that with the character I have built over the years.

    • @GCROCK
      @GCROCK  4 месяца назад +1

      They never said this though... they said they want to make their seasonal activities more immersive. They want to deliver the seasonal content in a way everyone is at the same stage throughout.
      We dont know how they are going to do this but they will be using seasonal characters to do it.

  • @H3llo4000

    I would love to see something like gear is tied to completing the season with your seasonal character, that can be transferred at the end to my main.
    For example, classified gear sets! Something like this would make the seasonal stuff even more worth it in my opinion. Or gear pieces that have two talents on it.
    Forgot to say that on the podcast but I would absolutely love the grind to try and get better versions of the gear we already have and think it would work really well 🙌🏼

    • @GCROCK

      I do like this idea. It would make it so much more rewarding.
      Have the normal season track attached to main and then have additional seasonal only rewards that are new altogether.

    I might be in the minority but I think we should just wait till it drops, try it out, then we will have something to base our opinions on, right now it's all speculation, just my 2 cents worth. The only thing I'm not liking is this 4 man master mission, there is already enough in this game that solo players can't do.

  • @stephenphillips7699

    I don't fully understand what a season character actually is. What I hear is, we start a new character at level 1 and try to get to level 40 but only have 12ish weeks to do it and then the character goes back to level 1 and then do the story missions all over again?

    • @GCROCK
      @GCROCK  4 месяца назад

      This is what a lot of people are thinking but my take is this;
      You start a seasonal character and your scout will give you a set of weekly objectives. Once done with these objectives you are then done for the week.
      These weekly objectives will be your progression and will take you to level 40 towards the end of the season.
      This is all guess work but that is what it sounds like. Yannick used the words of everyone advancing with their seasonal characters at the same pace so it makes sense this way.
      I imagine there will be reason to play your seasonal character after the weekly objective but it wont be a must. Your seasonal characters world will be set up in a way that they can modify the game experience so this excites me a lot with what they can do given they don't need to worry about the main game/server.
      I don't think this is going to be like anything we have seen with seasonal characters on the likes of Diablo. Division is a completely different game and experience so I feel they will be tailored to how this game works.
      Lastly, I say this to everyone, think of how much time we spend on seasonal activity now. Its this proportion only that they are advancing. You should have plenty of time left within every season to still do your main character progression.
      Again, all guess work. But thats my take. We will find out for sure soon when they speak more about it.

    Was a nice session, really loved it, despite some of the recent lesser-nice people here and there.
    My take as said during the session, for now I couldn't care less. But I know once it goes live it will be implemented in a proper way, so no need for panic. I consider it as a kind of Descent like setup, when you want o play the season just load in, get your new toon or start at your last progression save. And once you had enough for the day just return to Washington as usual. Nothing to wory about.
    As for the next rating exotics one: Only 2 tiers, tier 1 the few we all use, tier 2 components :D

    I really like your videos and I've been enjoying a lot your Discord channel, so don't take me as a hater for what I'm going to say about this:
    I play Diablo 4 a lot and seasonal characters work good there (just good, not great) because we have classes and gear that's exclusive for that class. We gotta farm every piece with every character because what's for the Druid won't drop for the Rogue so on and so on. The Division doesn't have a good point for a seasonal character. Unless they plan to add something like that for the DLC and since day one for The Division 3, but we, Division 2 loyal fanbase playing after all the downs, shouldn't be ''testers'' for this.
    I've been playing both games since release, both pre-purchased and I understood every wrong in the first game because it was a new concept, but I'm tired of watching the game I've been playing for years going in the wrong direction again.

      This is just sharing your opinion, I don't mean this when I describe the hate train etc. Thanks for sharing your views.
      Just for those that may read the comment, my issue is with people that attack another for the opinion that they have. Instead of discussing things like SeaBeyond has done here, they choose to target the person personaly in an effort to get their view across and heard.
      I believe something as big as seasonal character changes is going to have a huge difference in opinion. Please do feel free to share your opinion and views on what we know so far ❤️
