I work in agriculture. Whenever commodity prices drop, usually due to overproduction, the grocery store prices don't change at all. You only get them lower if you buy wholesale or maybe at an independent fruit stand.
It honestly comes down to COGS, cost of goods to be sold and supply & demand. Prices on grocery store items do fluctuate due to those 2 things. If we have an overabundance on wheat and the market drops, farmers will plant less wheat and plant more, say, corn, cotton, or soybeans if the market is up on those things then we'll endup pushing a shortage on wheat creating a demand, the price goes up and farmers start planting more wheat again. It's all market driven
