I am Brazilian and I am 50 years old. I heard this song in the early 80's as a kid. I grew up loving this song and proud of the spectacular musician that is my compatriot Sérgio Mendes. Thank you for the emotion I'm feeling right now.

Sergio Mendes won the 1993 Grammy for Best World Music Album with 1992 Brasileiro on the Elektra label . Compositions by Carlinhos Brown, Ivan Lins, João Bosco , Guinga and Hermeto Pascoal.
The 1972 Primal Roots ( Raizes)album also
featured some of the best Brazilian composers and musicians -Dorival Caymmi, Baden Powell - with authentic Afro-Brasileiro, jazz/samba arrangements by Sergio Mendes.
The Circle Game /Jogo de Roda written by Edu Lobo and Ruy Guerra, was an almost 19 minute long track on the flip side of the Primal Roots vinyl LP featuring Airto Moreira on percussion, Oscar Castro-Neves on guitar and Tom Scott on flute!

Vibe etc saying the singers of today aren’t as good not sure. Top singers are trained young to sing properly classically or otherwise. That hasn’t changed. There are good singers today but not as much maybe in the pop radio world maybe that’s what you meant. I do agree you you
do not hear much beautiful vocals. Like you would with this amazing Song and others. Back in the day. With all that said just looked at the latest and ‘ greatest ‘ they’re ain’t much special there !! Adele maybe Beyoncé Adam Levine wouldn’t consider a lot of the artists to be actually good vocalists wouldn’t consider Taylor swift to be a good singer or billie eilish … even though they’re considered good singers

I'd say that the vocals were absolutely stunning, but then again just about anything Pina touches turns to platinum. You make it look like it's just another day at the office, but we all know how difficult it is to achieve that level of perfection and how dedicated you all are to the music. This ranks among your top 5.
Fabulous vocals by Glen and Pina. I can't help but floating with such smooth and soulful delivery.

Wow! Great vocals Glenn and Pina. What a gauntlet to run through that song is. One of the best HSCC songs of all time!
Some say a song like that is written by a fly dipping its feet in ink and wandering across the manuscript, but it was actually a hop-scotching hornet,, they take bigger steps!
And nobody got stung!
What a fine accomplishment.
It's actually more subtle than that. The writers took the melody line, line by line, and shifted the harmony at the resting points to the most distant keys they could (harmonically speaking) while maintaining the melodic line. The next line would start from the new harmonic starting point and move in a natural way until the end of the line. And so on. The real genius is that the song still works. Songwriters tend to mould the melody to standard harmonic structures, rather than the other way round. The song is actually only tricky for the singers in a couple of places, where the intervals are a bit strange. Most of it is easy to follow as the transitions from line to line are within a tone of the last. The instrumentalists, on the other hand...

It is really amazing, that no matter who Pina is singing with that she blends and makes the other singers sound better in the the blend than alone. Love her voice.

The HSCC is simply an amazing group of musicians and vocalists, always turning out the very best music, and I love listening to all of the tracks they produce but I can’t take my eyes off the gorgeous Pina.. sad but true!

Never gonna give you up and welcome to the world of a thousand and one key changes, I always wondered if anyone `Down below´would attempt it. Great musicians have played it, and great singers have sung it, it`s not easy to reach the ranges of Joe Pizzulo, Liza Miller or Kate Markowitz but you guys did an excellent jog with a truly wonderful song, thank you one and all.

Well done. This is one of the craziest songs to learn since it has so many modulations. Strong keyboards by Mark Fogliano and Dave Ross. You can't even think about covering this song without two really good keyboardists. I just love the variety of tunes you're choosing to re-imagine. Não canso de ouvir esta música com a HSCC. Na minha opinião conseguiram deixar melhor que a original. O Engenheiro de som está de parabéns, os músicos perfeitos, agora, nunca vi alguém "saborear" uma melodia como a Pina Del Re neste vídeo, aliás, Glenn Cunningham e a Pina Del Re é a perfeição, cantam com a alma.
