      There will never be too many of those jokes !
      Speaking of it : Yours isn't supposed to be sitting so close to the wheel. If you have a look at 24:58, you should quickly understand why you feel that the car is too small. It simply isn't compatible with the long chair position.
      Have fun with your Coxster ! I kept one of those for 5 years as a daily driver. They are good cars, easy to maintain and surprisingly cheap to run. Just be a bit careful on snow and ice. It might try to kill you when you least expect it.
      Grüsse aus Wallis

      Cockster referred to Boxster, technically not Cayman as they are not the same car according to the manufacturer Porsche!😊
      Edit: The Cayman is tha Gayman a close resemblance to his older sibling the Cockster. 😂

    Just to note that the 987.2 base engine is a 265ps 2.9L with port injection, so doesn't coke up. However, like the DFI engines, it's not supposed to suffer from bore scoring. In the UK, they cost about the same as a 987.1 S, or roughly half the cost of a 981 base.

    I like the car. I find a lot of modern sports cars to be too fast. there's such thing as "usable speed." also, it's more fun to drive a slow car fast than it is a fast car slow. there's a reason people love the miata so much. good purchase, Mario!

      Good point on cars being too fast (for public road) !

      I really want the Honda Beat after seeing Sreten's (M539 restorations) video with him driving Jason Cammisa's Beat. So expensive though after you import one from Japan...

    I love this a lot, that is the first proper car you own, well done! 😊
    If I would have been in your shoes I would have sold all 4 cars you currently own and would have replaced them with a 981 Cayman S or GTS.
    Think about all the headaches and tax money you could save 😁
    One more thing: A Coxster is a Boxster and Cayman is a Gayman 😉

    Ciao Mario! I've been following you since your days with the SL, which I desperately wanted to own at some point. Eventually got a Cayman, which is also the car got for yourself. I'm excited to see your future adventures with it!

    I have to wholeheartedly disagree with the comment about the back being ugly. I personally think the 987 Gen Caymans have one of the best looking back ends on a sports car, especially the 987.2 generation Cayman, where they redesigned the rear lights and made them more petal or eye shaped. In conjunction with those curvaceous hips (rear wheel arches) and how it flows to the front, it's side profile is absolutely stunning. It's partly why I eyed more towards a 987.2 when buying a Cayman, which i've now had for 2 years now

    Ugly? There isn't a bad line on the car! I love the rear 3/4 view on my 987.2 2.9 manual.
    Love those wheels.
    Good luck with the IMS and bore score on the new motor!!!

    That in-car soundtrack was amazing. True engine induction noise. So old school, so nice. How many revs was that? And if it's a summer car, do you really NEED that radio?

    • @swisscarguy
      @swisscarguy  Год назад

      I think I took it to 7 a couple of times. But I did 6k for sure in those clips. And the radio is always good for when poodling along in traffic.

    I truly dont want to know how much you pay for parking per month in Zürich for 4 cars 😢

    • @swisscarguy
      @swisscarguy  Год назад +1

      Luckily, I don't live _in_ Zürich, so my spots are a reasonable CHF 135.- each (which incidentally is more than I pay insurance on any of the cars 🙈).

    Congratulations on a great buy Mario. You said it best yourself: "This if fantastic. I enjoy this A LOT". Can't get any clearer than that. How tall are you? I am a bit hesitant to the Boxster/Cayman since I am 192cm. Considering the 911/997 due to that.

    • @swisscarguy
      @swisscarguy  Год назад

      I am 1.83m. Best way to find out if you can fit comfortably is to find one and test sit (or even better drive it). I still reckon a 911 will give you more leg room.

    That engine sounds really good. I think it's the perfect sports car for narrow mountain roads. Do you plan to drive in during the winter? Cheers.

    • @swisscarguy
      @swisscarguy  Год назад

      No, as soon as it gets cold (and the roads get salted) it's Lexus-only time. It's also the only car I have winter tires for.

    I had a 2009 cayman s for a couple of years. It was ok, tho I found the clutch was a bit heavy, and also did not like having to fully depress that heavy clutch to start it . I prefer to start a manual car in neutral.

    • @DavidEverson77
      @DavidEverson77 Год назад

      Even in neutral, it is best practice to depress the clutch pedal all the way in. It means that there is less load on the starter motor so if you have a slightly suspect battery, it stands more chance of successfully turning the engine over.

  • @rkan2
    @rkan2 Год назад

    Maybe you too should consider a Honda Beat. Based on what I've seen from Jason Cammisa, it sounds and feels like you are doing 200km/h when you are actually doing only 120! 😅

    My only note of dissent is: why a Chinese head unit from Aliexpress instead of something really good such as a Pioneer or an Alpine?

    • @swisscarguy
      @swisscarguy  Год назад +3

      Because on the top brand units you cannot install any apps from the play store. They are stuck in the past. Did the whole top of the line Pioneer thing 10 years ago (in my 996 incidentally). Nowadays I spend one quarter of the money and get a better experience, which also integrates more harmoniously into the interior.
      I will make a video once it arrives and I install it.

    Kommt der cayman an den Z4M coupe ran? Dann wär's ein schnäppchen, die BMW gehen ja preislich durch die Decke. Ich schaue auch immer ob's 996 mit revidierten Motoren im Netz hat. Dies wird jedoch immer seltener, da die meisten nicht mehr viel gefahren werden.

    • @swisscarguy
      @swisscarguy  11 месяцев назад

      Persönlich mag ich den Cayman besser. Ich fahre die Autos aber auch mehr oder weniger wie eine Oma. Jemand, der mehr am Limit fährt und ein besserer Fahrer ist, dürfte andere Vorlieben haben. Der Cayman ist innen geräumiger, die Schaltung fühlt sich besser an und das Auto hat auch mehr Traktion. Mittelmotor ist schon etwas Spezielles. Der BMW ist aber sicher schneller und drift-freudiger, was aber für mich persönlich kein Pluspunkt ist.
