Three Days - Three Emergency Landings Boston Logan

- Bad slats, flat flaps, an open door and broken air speed indicator, just a typical few days at Boston Logan!! These folks are all pros, the pilots, ATC, ground, Logan Command. I like to piece the story together and am amazed at how calm and cool everyone always is! It seems like these maintenance issues happen fairly frequently. ATC is courtesy of liveatc.net, the aviation resource for all us plane nuts! :)

I like the way you mixed the ATC, maps and actual footage of these incidents as it makes for a fuller explanation of the events. I have filmed a few emergency landings myself never want anything bad to happen... and your video proves that thankfully in the vast majority of cases, nothing does.

Hi Daniel - as far as I could tell from watching Logan Command inspect the plane , they thought they were having an issue with a right rear door. All appeared to be well when they landed - which was very good!!!

Boston is always the pilots first airport in that sector. They have the equipment and the runways.....Too bad Swissair couldn't make it to BOS. We had you guys!

Thank you! I must send you a video of an amazing French telecommunication vessel I saw passing by today! It is named after the great French mathematician Gaspard Monge. ATC mentioned it when I was filming the emergency landing, "ah, the French!" they said!!! :)

air speed indicator wasn't working
Hey Chris, so on that flight, from what I cold hear, I think the air speed indicators malfunctioned. But, all ended well! :)
actually i may go down the week after this coming week for a day got any good spots for me :), ill give you more info on when i may go.

what's Slats?
a part of the wing that extends to make the wing bigger so that the plane could fly at slow speeds. it's use for landing so that the plane slows down faster on the ground.
Flaps??
same thing helps extend the wing but in the back of the wing. slats extend the wing in the front of the wing.
