if your friend still has that remedy, tell him to mullet it! :D got the same bike, and mullet makes it so good! 160 29 Lyrik or 36 + 60mm stroke shock (the stock Select+ can be easily converted) makes it a really great descending bike, but keeps the agility. Also, the frame can take up to 65mm stroke, but 60mm is more than enough for just additional bottom out travel.
