  • Holy pickles were not in the shop. Today I wanted to show you some of my everyday adventures. Just because the name says transmission doesn't mean we can't do or don't do more.
This customer has been a long time family friend and we're happy to help keep his truck rolling down the road whether it's an ignition lock cylinder replacement or a whole new trans were going to keep him going. I personally feel this way about all of my customers I want each one to know how much we appreciate taking care of their family.
Check back soon for more videos of all kinds of shinanigins in the shop. Thank you for watching our videos. Feel free to check out our Facebook page as well at the link below.

Thank you, sir, for making this video. It was extremely helpful because my manual wasn't so clear, especially on how all those little parts fit together and come apart. That's the power of the internet: two years later and this video is still helping people.

Thanks for the video! Just a little tip for the diyers like myself. The little two pronged switch didn't want to go back in for me. It kept getting stopped by a plastic tab on the lock cylinder. The tab moved real easy. I used a zip tie to hold pressure on the tab(like I would a screwdriver).

While replacing this ignition switch Dave subtly tosses out the following: "When I was 19 I did one of these ignition switch jobs without the use of a steering wheel puller." I cannot overstate how difficult that would be. I would say it's impossible and most mechanics would agree. But Dave did it. For that reason alone I liked & subscribed to this channel; a transmission repair channel. If I understood Dave correctly when he attempted this job so many years ago HE DIDN'T EVEN KNOW THERE WAS SPRING TENSION ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THAT CLIP. So when he finally tore the clip out BANG he was startled by the release. That is called Follow through. In the Oxford Dictionary under the word determination it should just have a picture of Dave with a caption underneath that reads See Him.

Hey bro, ive already replaced the ignition switch just like in your video...fast forward a few years later which is now...my ignition switch started to act up or what i thought was ignition switch...truck would intermittently shut off while driving then it got worse and i noticed that if i rotate the switch forward almost to the crank position then the truck would stay running...i thought it was bad switch because i used non acdelco so i got new oem switch and that didnt fix my issue...truck will crank up just fine but will shut off when switch returns after starting...WTF?...im gonna go to dealership and see if they could print me off a diagram from alldata but was wondering if you could help...i may just bypass all of it and just run a switch with a push button like the race cars have...its a 94 chevrolet k1500 auto 4x4 5.7
