This is the best walk up and down lesson that I found on RUclips. Your explanation makes a lot of sense, and it’s up to the player to pick which notes to play. Well done. Thank you.
🌿🌹🌿 Brian! You have unlocked the mystery that has been haunting me since I picked up my guitar after 20 years of laying it down! I jam with a blue grass group and have been aching to play during breaks. I can figure it out now! God bless you for your teaching us newbies, making us feel as though we matter, also, and that we can be taught at any age! Many blessings to you and yours 🌹
Your are a gifted teacher, Brian. Very clear and basic approach to all music lovers especially those new to learning guitar. May God gives blessing to you for happilly sharing your knowledge.
Thank you Brian, your lesson was a lightbulb moment for me, so well layed out and explained, without any assumption of prior knowledge. I now know why Sweet Virginia by the Stones actually sounds so good, thanks to you I understand!😊
One of your subscriber. Just found this clip on "walk up and down" Yours is the best on how walk down works. You showed us how it come about unlike others who don't. Great teacher and thanks for the enlightenment. Much appreciated and thanks once again.
Brian appears to teach the "why" in this lesson, which few guitar teachers ever do. I'm going to look into his stuff further. I'm looking for teachers like this who "crack the code".
That demonstration of how you "figured out" the major G scale at around 15:30 was valuable to me. I'm a book learner, and somehow that made things click in my brain.
Thank you Brian. Great lesson. Can't afford to sign up at this time. But you are a great teacher. I'm using Mel bay teach yourself atm. But gonna check circle of 5ths so while practice chord changes and scales the chords sound melodic also will help remember how to find 1st 4th and 5th. Thanks again
Back in 2006, on a deployment in Iraq, I had a buddy show me how to play a few easy songs on the guitar like "Glycerine" and "wish you were here". That was the first time i ever touched a guitar, and was the last time until about a year ago. I got out of the military in 2010'ish and have worked at a custom meat locker since then. Killin and skinnin beef, hogs, buffalo, deer, goats, ect.,everything that walks or crawls at some point or another, and also boning them out and cuttin em into steaks, or whatever and so on.So between doin that holding a knife all day everyday ,for at least 10 hours a day over all them years, and with a few self inflicted injuries here an there due to either anger issues, along with the occasional outbursts of rage, or by unforeseen circumstances caused by drinkin multiple alcoholic beverages everyday and not eating 3 to 5 days straight give or take , and occasionally over indulging, for at least a good 20 years minimum,.....needless to say, throw ina few car wrecks, poor circulation and high blood pressure,...my hands and wrists sometimes give me fits. Anywhere from bein numb, sore, swollen, or alot of mornings ill wake up and have no feeling or coordination at all. It may last anywhere from the end of a morning piss , to taking 30 minutes to button my pants, to a couple days or better. With that said, and without writing a book, i bought a guitar about a year ago with the hope that playing it, in what little sparetime i may have, to see if it would help with the poor circulation an such in my wrists and hands. Im no Yngwie Malmsteem or anything like that by no means, but i can play several songs fluidly of a wide range of genres, and can learn new songs fairly quick if i have the tabs or chord progression in front of me but thats about as far as my guitar skills go. But after watching this video, I know believe i have a pretty good understanding or at least a hell of alot better understanding of how the whole fretboard works. It kinda reminds me of when Forrest Gump said somethinlike, "Guess we dont have to worry about money no more..One less thing." Because now i dont think ill have to look up notes or chords quite as much or as often if there's a particular song id like to learn to play......One less thing.I didn't mean for this to be so lengthy of a reply. Please excuse my ignorance.
I'm not sure what you mean exactly. In the key of E major, you can build your 7 diatonic chords based off the scale. Emaj7 F#m7 G#m7 Amaj7 B7 C#m7 D#m7b5...so you could use any of those chords if you want to remain 100% in key!
Hey Russell, the numbers come from the scale degrees from which each chord was built from. Example: C major scale is: C D E F G A B There are 7 notes in that scale, and each note can be labeled 1 through 7 in roman numeral notation. Example: 'G' would be the "V chord" because it's the 5th note of the scale. I made a whole lesson about it here: www.zombieguitar.com/understanding-diatonic-chord-progressions-triads-and-7th-chords/

What an absolutely superb lesson! All makes absolute sense to me now. You are an extraordinarily gifted teacher. Thanks so much.
Amazing lesson. I've been playing for about 8 years and this was still helpful to me. Thank you!!!!!

Great lesson Brian, and thanks for the time and effort for teaching and sharing, besta regards!

Thank you so much for this. I had a hard time grasping this kind of stuff before stumbling upon your vids!
One of the most detailed tutorials on yt. Thanks bro
Best lesson ever made by any human being... Respect from India 🇮🇳
Haha, thanks man!!

This guy has the knowledge we need.
Circle of fifths, never knew how it worked until now, thanks for that.
Really like your simplistic, down to earth approach......Subscribed today.

That was a thing I'd always wondered about and you figured it out by ear. You should donate your ears to a music museum when you die. Amazing.
Thanks for checking out the vid! Glad you liked it. I appreciate the comment 😀

What are the full chords when you walk down to the E chord from b7?!
I'm not sure what you mean exactly. In the key of E major, you can build your 7 diatonic chords based off the scale.

🙋💓
I see the future smiling at you, I swear.

Why are chords designated "I" or "IV" or "V"? Looking at the Circle of Fifths diagram, I never see these numerals. Thank you!
Hey Russell, the numbers come from the scale degrees from which each chord was built from.
Example: C major scale is:
C D E F G A B
There are 7 notes in that scale, and each note can be labeled 1 through 7 in roman numeral notation. Example: 'G' would be the "V chord" because it's the 5th note of the scale.
I made a whole lesson about it here: www.zombieguitar.com/understanding-diatonic-chord-progressions-triads-and-7th-chords/
