Papatūānuku - Aho Wahine: Book One

This is an interpretation of an aspect of the Māori creation story, from Aotearoa (New Zealand), told from the point of view of Papatūānuku, the Earth Mother, which describes how she and her husband Ranginui the Sky Father, were eventually separated by their son Tāne Mahuta and his brothers, so that they could live with light and space to reach their full potential.
Produced in association with Copyright Licensing New Zealand Cultural Fund, the Aho Wahine series of digital graphic novels breathe new life into the traditional stories of Aotearoa/New Zealand, by re-imagining them from the point of view of the female characters.
“Aho Wahine” originated from a concept developed in 2013 under the creative direction of Rhonda Kite ONZM.

As an Indonesian, I admit that the story about Ranguini's son, Tanggaroa, the sea god, is very famous in several tribes, such as the Talaud tribe. My ancestors were sailors⛵🌊🏝️

this is the most heartbreaking thing ever! Thank you for this video it is absolutely beautiful, yet it made me question, is this why it is so hard for us to find love? for in the separation of it, we grow? And if we are able to find our way back home to our source, isn't it possible that our divine father and mother, joined each other again, but in different forms? This story reminds me of Egyptian mythology, it goes in deeper depths in other forms, for this version goes deeper in the separation itself. Keep shining, i couldn't stop watching and wished it never ended!

That is not the story I was told as a child. The children were angry at rangi and papa, for they were crawling around in darkness and wanted more room. Thats why the sons separated their parent's. Rangi and papa did not want to be separated. You make it sound all warm and fuzzy. It wasnt
