The test lab is open at certain times I got notifications on it when it opens
You should add personalities to animals. For example a pet will be sassy and when asked to do a trick they will refuse. Or pets that will get hungry more often or pets that will have a lot of energy and jump around. Or a pet that will just walk slowly at the park instead of running around
Yeah, pet traits is a really interesting idea. It might be complex and add more complexity to trading if it's carried over and shown in the trading menu... And if there are some rarer personality traits and more common ones...
Hopefully it wouldn't become like Pokemon natures where people decide not to trade for a pet because it has a trait they don't like-

@DavidBishop-dg4sf not really, they just added that pets make faces or different noises. Like when you take out food while they are hungry they will have heart eyes
