      @@GreentopLandscapes hi Johnny,
Would it be possible to do a vid on different types of sand cement mixes and what they would be used for ,with regards to landscaping and building works I can see you generally do touch on these matters.
Also price differences across the country per m2 you could expect to pay (north, East, south and west of England)

Clarity is always important. That's why we were back and forth making sure the quote included all what we needed and it was clear for both parties. Any work requested at the time of the job which is outside of the original quote I'll be happy to pay for this additional work.
On a personal note, having bad old and being very particular I would never accept a quote that wasn't written. It's definitely important for both parties and not just the consumer.
Always appreciate the honesty in the chats. 👍🏼

Great stuff again john on pricing , the key thing is experience mate , we adjust our prices and wordings on our quotes as the company evolves , and this is usually out of mistakes , ref it has cost the contractor 😓 ( us ) money 🤪 nothing sharpens you mind , and state what your doing ? We put in red capital letters on our estimates if it’s not in our schedule it’s not priced for , and we call them estimates as of 30 days from writing cost will rise due to increase in materials , keep safe mate and thanks for the videos mate and ❤️👍🙏 keeping us all informed 👍

I've just started a landscaping business up on the side Johnny. Obv would appreciate advice on personal contact.
I'm up in Scotland and I can do this like yourself to same quality but I have a real problem where my business skills let me down. I have lost 5k on this job and after 4 weeks on 95m2 indian sandstone install with retaining wall, raised kerb edging x2 and a grass install.
I work my own job and do this on side. I find a major downfall aswell is finding labourers who deliver for wage and not only that I'm hemridging money on labour that takes longer. Its a balance I can't find. I can send my portfolio but I would love to chat. For my boys livelihood
Your video are amazing on info. Keep up the effort fella 👍

It has come to a point that every landscaper needs to show the rate of inflation n the price rise of materials, to the customers that question if they think it's well over-priced, just to give them clarity n confidence that your not ripping them off

I have an 80m2 patio to be replaced. The builders charge me 6000 pound for labour only. The job includes 1). remove the old slabs; 2). compact existing base which is sand and soil (no hardcore); 3). lay sandstones on mortar. I am not sure if this is right.

  • @peterdunne1717

Honestly, I didn't start to make money until I started charging properly. Fear of destitution will put you out of business before charging a proper price for a proper job. Also, don't try and just get a wage out of your work...you MUST have business profit. As you get older you will not work as much and as quickly as when you are younger...so be aware of this factor. While you are earning less in your labouring, as you get older, others are earning more in their government jobs, etc. You MUST know your costings...each job will, more than likely, take you LONGER than you think...regardless of experience and so price accordingly. Doing this you will be a much more satisfied and fulfilled contractor. Keep in mind that birds of a feather flock together and if you are working mostly for well-off people and you do a good job, then most of your future clients will also be well-healed...it works both ways. Finally, be professional and give a comprehensive and detailed quotation. If you get the job and are asked to do extra work then you MUST charge a fee for that extra work.

@@GreentopLandscapes Thanks mate wouldn’t want to put you to any trouble. We’re up in Scotland and I’ve had 2 quotes one of them less than half the price of the first quote. Not sure if that should be a worry that the work would be of poor quality? The base is solid just relaying like for like as a couple of the slabs are damaged.

I'm looking for some advice and hoping I could get a reply, I'm in the West Midlands and I need to have my old patio taken up and a complete new patio laid, the area is 45 square metres and we have so far had 2 quotes both coming in at 6 thousand pounds, that's in Indian sandstone, that's for complete removal of old slabs a complete new sub base with membrane and 45 square metres laid, I'm just a humble lorry driver so 6k is basically all I have and then some,, but it needs doing really bad now I'm willing to go for it but just wandered if this price was in the ball park or am I being ripped off, if anyone could give me a bit of advice then it would be really appreciated, thanks in advance
