The Neutral ending is just so good. Fixing the world, undoing the apocalypse, essentially flipping off Lucifer. If trouble rises, again, this main character knows what to do.
There's a reason the Demifiend is considered especially badass even among a huge stable of badass SMT protagonists.
What was "fixed"? All that accomplished is someone else choosing in a Conception and MC marking himself as an enemy towards that goal.
It's no better than neutrality in the first game. Which is to say, you got your children to stop bickering for about a week. They'll do it again later after your temper cools down.
True Demon ending is the best one; end the circle of creation, escape that reality (which is now just a void) and go kill YHWH an infinite number of times.
The freedom ending does seem cool. His want/ Ms. Yukao's want to undo the mistake that'd been done to their world but I mean. Choosing Freedom means ignoring all beings being forced to suffer that cycle of death and rebirth in the Amala Universe. Also knowing the fact that YHVH is gonna come kill you as Kagutsuchi and Lucifer say.
It's good in a human perspective but for an SMT perspective the True Demon one was the best one because god is no santa claus. In real life god is no Santa Claus either, but more like a two faced dictator.

@@Nyrufa Oh? I see Chaos as the absence of LAW and far more synonymous with Freedom than Yosuga. The state of the world is definitely different though... it's completely obliterated in Chaos. I'm not sure how Musubi is synonymous with Freedom. Musubi is creating your own world for selfish happiness. Freedom is like this world, where you have no choice but to share the world with everyone else. I think if the two were the same, Isamu would have had no reason to pick Freedom instead of Isolation. I don't think Yosuga has to be synonymous with endless war either. It's a world where the strongest person rules and law is set by they who wield the most power. Maybe that means Alexander the Great style conquest, maybe that means establishing an unbreakable new order... or maybe that means endless conflict sometimes :D
It's because you aren't allowed to have your own reason because you're part demon, but can still follow someone else's.

I went for the TDE because I knew beforehand that it was the one needed to 100% the game and fight every boss but in retrospect I would have probably gone for the Freedom ending if it was up just to my personal taste and I understood while playing that you could achieve going back even if Yuko had no reason. I mean, Aradia just looked so shady and creepy that I couldn't really even trust in their talk of freedom, so I probably would have failed and ended up getting the Demon ending if I didn't finish the 5th kalpa.
It's intersting how to achieve what is (arguably?) the happiest ending, Neutral, you need to go very close in risking what is (again, arguably?) the worst ending, Demon, and to do so you are supposed to have faith and blindly trust in the woman who awakened you at the beginning, setting everything in motion and asked to trust you while progressing through the game you see her constantly being deceived, used, fail and be sad.
That's just how life works sometimes. There's a reason that "failing upwards" is a phrase.
exactly how i felt (and still feel), i usually go with the path thats the hardest/or has the most bosses, but when i finish the game, i wish i could leave the ending up to my true tastes
Damm, why do all good endings have to have the least bosses, Persona 5R and Devil Survivor Overcklocked are the best examples.

Sorry for replying to this so late, but I just beat the game last night for the first time ever lol and I didn't expect to see a comment with my exact feelings. I was mad that there wasn't anyone who sided with the Manikins so I was like fuck this world and went TDE. But in my mind the Manikins are with us at the end since you can fuse Futomimi and Sakahagi, which makes them technically demons right... Just let me have this haha.

Now i know why this is the best Atlus' game.. These endings are just beyond me, especially True Demon ed. there is no *right ending* , it truly depends by the player. As a gamer one should choose tde, but as a person Neutral ending would be the best ending. Anyway, maybe i'm a bit late but thanks for sharing. Well done :)

The Amala Network makes every ending canonical. Hence why you can still play SMT IV Apocalypse even with IV being there.

Multiple demi fiend exist as demifiend in SMT 4 Appocalypse killed by lucifer after destroying kagutsuchi which dont make sense in any nocturne end. even so in true demon end where he keep his power as luci promote him personally. Thanks to this case, multiple dante can also exist

isamus ending always cracked me up cause he was reduced to just his hat lol. the freedom and tde are the best they fell the most like your choice and control instead of some one elses. Granted coudl be said the same for the latter but in that path your choosing once again to fight and it matches the menu screen to the game haha

As the Demi-Fiend's role is to "confirm" the Reason, everyone wanting you to advance their goals is quite mandatory. It helps that this DF is on the gullible side (see TDE for more information). Much of the thing with SMT3 is that "how do you want to live your life" and based on that you pick a ending.
Reading these comments is annoying. The Great Will is not YHVH. In Nocturne, the equivalent is the Kagatsuchi. He and YHVH are twisted versions of the axiom the Great Will, created and deified by humans after centuries of misremembering of what the actual Great Will was.
It's like a parallel to the real world. If God is real, he's certainly a quiet God in modern times, and the version we know is probably nowhere close what the actual God is like. It's like an inter-generational game of telephone. It keeps slightly changing. Christianity today is different from Christianity 100 years and very different from Christianity 1000 years ago.
the axiom is the will of the universe itself. (and those of other universes) the collective will. YHVH is merely someone who has transcended into a 4th dimensional being thanks to his methods of persuasion and dethroning of old gods being successful. he has so many followers in his faith that he gained powers above everyone else. but it still only allows him to control things within the universe, not the universe itself. the universe has its own will, and that will despises YHVH for trying to take the reins. the axiom wants YHVH gone, and so does stephen. which is very likely why stephen as another transcended being could perhaps be like an agent/ally of the axiom. as he constantly tries to offer a world that's free from YHVH's control and lucifer's suffering. if anything, atleast his philosophy is very much aligned with the great will.

Why would Stephen help him then? Stephen also says something about the Messiah being "able to surpass the axion"...

That's how I understood it too. You know I like to debate who is the strongest overall Atlus character, and if my theory, that YHVH from Apocalypse is the equal to Kagatsuchi, is correct, then True Demon Demi fiend is the undisputed most powerful, broken MC of Atlus. And the scariest part is: Technically he did this all by himself.

Wow, the graphics are impressive considering the PS2 limitations. Played this game in 2010 and unlocked the true end. The one where i fought n beat satan. Awesome game.
Don't take this the wrong way, but Lucifer and Satan are two separate entities in SMT.
Even in Nocturne, where Satan doesn't have a playable appearance or a role in the story, he's a separate entity from Luce, being a Magatama.

I know according to the mystery schools Lucifer is the Light Bringer and some claim Jesus and Lucifer are the same and that Lucifer is good and brought intelligence to be a god to Mankind- IMO the last (secret) boss that I faced IS Satan not by name but by the fact that when I beat him it made me king of the demons- as Satan is supposed to be.

I'm playing this game rn and just got to the obelisk. Is there an efficient way to get all these endings easily or should I just go for one?
Meaningless to get all the endings. The only ending you want to go for is the True Demon ending since that gives you the true final boss to fight.
A late reply (you probably beat the game by this point), but I disagree with what +BuffMaister said. You should probably get at least a "normal" ending (Neutral ending or side with any specific Reason) and do TDE on a second playthrough, as you gain access to Press Turns and no level restrictions when summoning demons.
lorenzo romano i just recently beat the 5th kalpa and started the tower. If I had time I'd do another playthru but I don't so I'm satisfied with tde

Try downloading a different version of the game and inserting the safe files there. It even works when transfering from a version with dante to a raidou one. See if you can beat the game there and watch the ending.

I just finished this game. I ended up with the neutral ending because none of the 3 Gods pleased me and I was too lazy to 100% the game. I was 50 hours in with only 53% demon compendium. I don't have the patience to grind out more demons. Very enjoyable gameplay and story though! This game reminded me of a demonic pokemon meets silent hill.
Should’ve gone for the True Demon ending. You get the most out of the game if you do it. Not only that, you get access to some very busted party members, like the Harlot and Dante.
It would be really cool if Demi-fiend in SMT IV is from Freedom Ending because he looks like he have happy live there.
Sadly that isn’t the case, the demi fiend you see in smt 4 is from the true demon ending since he was fighting lucifer at the time
Actually no. Smt 4 demi fiend is killed by lucifer after he destroy kagutsuchi. In true demon luci promote demi fiend to led demon army instead. There is no reason for luci to kill demi fiend there. Smt 4 A demi fiend most likely come from another ending that not covered in nocturn as amala network is hub between cluster of alternate universe.
@TIBdOBiNSON MCgLOBiNSON im using source material from smt4 A. It was written demi fiend killed after he destroy kagutsuchi and in TDE demi fiend win vs lucifer and no he didnt die in TDE. Luci congratulate demi fiend to win and call some of his follower to follow demi fiednd. SMT 4A DLC only possible if demi fiend lose and killed by luci which dosent fit any nocturne end.

Glad I went for TDE on my first playthrough. The other endings for the Reasons are very similar to each other, so they seem less worthwhile.
Anyone feel they kinda forgot that Chaos and Law aren't inherently evil and good? Cos I feel like the Chaos endings were really driving home you're a terrible person when I don't trust that floaty headed freak (I mean, it reminds me of the Tower of Babel in Devil Survivor... And that thing was basically a demon tower).
I 100 percent on my first play thru on hard with TDE...in like 2 weeks...god it was the longest 2 weeks ever but worth it

Shijima and musubi are pretty good worlds in my opinion. Give away that little freedom that we have for eternal and guaranteed peace would really be the heaven for me, in the world we live or at least in the place i live there is always risk that someone would hurt you or your loved ones. And in musubi everyone will be able to create their own world and i assume that you would be able to create living beings as well, of course since you created them you will be able to know exactly what they will do and they will be no different than AI but considering that there is no proof that the world outside of our thoughts is real would it really be different?
Personally, I always agreed most with Shijima's ending the most. What's the point in restoring everything back to the old world when you know there's a chance someone will just try to repeat the events in Nocturne.
I would rather have a world, void of conflict if at all possible. So no can die needlessly, so no one will suffer. If it means we have to give up our free will to get peace so be it. It beats having millions dead because of war or something else.
@Nao Good points as well. YHVH probably will work in his way somehow. Because none of these worlds were perfect and I can imagine Lucifer will always do the same thing.

I'm personally in the camp of SMT where I believe all the endings are canon somewhere in the Amala Network it makes too much sense to say otherwise.

The Axiom doesn't really favor law or chaos. The Axiom thinks both God and Lucifer are pricks.
You're still killing everyone. Taking away life's value in the SMT multiverse.
And even as big of a bastard God is at times. He still cares about human life. He's just a giant fucking asshole who is willing to wipe out humanity and start over if they don't do what he asks of them or don't pass his tests.
Or at the very least wipe out a good amount of them.
And even than if Devil Survivor Overclocked is anything to go by he's still willing to abandon humanity if he doesn't see fit to watch over them anymore as shown in Yuzu's ending on the extra 8th day.
But if we look at Lucifer what makes him much better? He wants to wipe out existence. That is worse. At least God is giving humanity a test, choice, whatever. Lucifer has a goal in mind and is willing to take down anyone who stands in his way.
I don't know, I believe life has value in the SMT multiverse.

The idea is that when the world runs out of batteries, the conception is the process of going to the store and buying the new batteries to replace the old ones. You just get to choose what brand of batteries that you buy.

While the TDE is likely what has taken place/ or smt A is used for smt5 I prefer the neutral ending myself. Sure your now an enemy of yhwh but from what I understand of the email the demifend is still a demifiend and can hold his ground. While sure it's still in a cycle destroying it would likely remove humans from existing. It's why I like the marine nutural ending from sj redux.
I can go for either true demon or neutral as my favorite, I think they both have a good side to it

@@thecoolestprinz885 and that is mostly correct. However what lucifer didn't know was raidou's true power. Guy is superior to Mido who's on par with Stephen who's infinitely above Yhvh. And demi fiend stalemated raidou. Lucifer didn't know that. And felt the need of having a fight the demi fiend to bring out his true power

@FBI Alypstick I mean the storyline and character depth. Each to their own. But for me personally, I prefer real time.
Literally the best part about this game is the Press Turn system.

An accurate representation of the mythical beings that our ancestors worshipped and died for? Is a games mechanics of zeros and ones more intriguing to you than that? I'm genuinely curious how you are more interested about game mechanics than the story in this game?
cameron blake I like the overall story but to answer you, yes, I like the RPG aspect more because it’s a game. That I bought. To play and strategize. The story is a part of that whole experience for me but it’s more undermines by gameplay because that’s literally what video games are. Games you play for enjoyment.
@@Yakubi I disagree, I find games (especially this one) to be informative lessons on the history and psychology of choices in ideologies. so, the only good endings are the Neutral and True Demon. Everything else is boring as shit
The neutral (1st) ending is absolutely the best ending to the game X)
